[Khaz Modan RP] The Highland Games - Spring 2021

Absolutely welcome to! While it is especially made for the folks of Khaz Modan to participate in, you’re always welcome to come and socialize/spectate. Perhaps after a game day you might enjoy some of the games in the tavern, where the stakes are less high and the ale flows more freely ^^

Dons Dwarf hallow’s end mask, enters the competition with nobody the wiser. He’s just a really, really hairy and suspiciously tall dwarf.

This does sound cool, wish I had a dwarf or gnome to enter the contests with but I might come cheer on my favourite gnomes.

Light Schedule

We’re now closing in on the date, with under two days to go! Below you’ll find a scheduling for the three days, can’t wait to see you all there!

Friday 23rd April

19:45 - 20:00: Introductions! Thane Stormheart will host a large welcoming within the courtyard of Kirthaven, taking you all through a few house rules as well as lodgings and catering. It’s here we’ll meet and greet and divide into our teams for the next three days!

20:00 - 23:00: Without offering too much time dedication, but able to fit in all the desired games for the evening - our first night will consist of the following:

"Thumper's Bane"

Taken from the head of ‘Thumper’, Thundermar’s infamous and temperamental Ram. He boasted a staggering sized set of horns! Upon his death, the townsfolk claimed them for the trophy and placed them upon a plaque - Rekkr Stormheart snagged one, seeing it fitting that the boisterous beast was honoured in a more rowdy way. Filling it up with an absurd amount of ale! And seeing if anyone has the stones to see it all off in one go - or chunder trying! To this day, it’s been a challenging feat to finish Thumper’s Horn!

"The Great Barrel Ride"

As dangerous as it sounds! In days of old each Dwarf would’ve finished off their own keg, upon doing so they’ll be granted the right to participate! Each Dwarf to participate will await at the top of the chosen hill, slope (or mountain). Upon the word “Go!” they’ll all mount their barrels and race to the bottom. Well, that’s the idea anyway.

"Tug o' War"

That’s right, we’re to work as a team in this one! Show off your prowess alongside your kin and hold fast - stoic and un-moving to your opponents’ struggle! Grasp hold of the large double-knotted rope, align the ‘centre’ with a marker-stone. Upon the word “Go!” you’ll pull like you’re trying to steal a wagon of ale!

Finished / 23:00: Onwards, the scored games for the evening have officially ended and the rest of the night will be held for merriment, stories and boasting from the days activities.

Current scores and placement will also be presented to the teams.

Saturday 24th April

19:45 - 20:00: We’ll wait for everyone to re-group and find their teams once again!

20:00 - 23:00: Without offering too much time dedication, but able to fit in all the desired games for the evening - our second night will consist of the following:

"The Boulder Toss"

A game that’ll test your arm and your might! It doesn’t take long to understand, but a fair while to master; though we Wildhammer aren’t keen on technique.

"The Thunder Road"

Adopted by Clan Wildhammer from their Stormpike cousins to the far north, a game of competitive team drinking! A game that was said to have been even a favourite of Alteracs’ very own, Vanndar Stormpike. You’ll buddy up with kin, lined up opposite your opens to create a road as long as any grand mead-hall. Upon our ever favoured word “Drink!”, you’ll race your opposing team down your line of comrades. The aim is to finish your filled mug one after another - be sure to sip quick and slap your next in line, but don’t you dare spill a drop!

"Pink Belly"

A game shared throughout the Wildhammer Clan to test your hide and brawn. With this game, each participant will fill up a mug of their chosen mead or ale, the first person will place the filled mug on top of their head until balanced. They’ll then welcome a punch to their stomach from the rest of the participants involved. Not wanting to lurch or shift too much else they’ll spill the mug atop their head.

Finished / 23:00: Onwards, the scored games for the evening have officially ended and the rest of the night will be held for merriment, stories and boasting from the days activities.

Current scores and placement will also be presented to the teams.

Sunday 25th April

19:45 - 20:00: We’ll wait for everyone to re-group and find their teams once again!

20:00 - 23:00: Without offering too much time dedication, but able to fit in all the desired games for the evening - our third night will consist of the following:

"The Wall"

'The Wall’ is a dangerous, half-fallen cobbled stone construction down a lane beyond Kirthaven’s courtyard. Most would note it down for repair work; but not Stormheart - no! It’s a challenge, cross the decrepit wall without falling and you’ll earn points for your team! Oh, one more thing, the other teams get to hurl large rocks and pebbles at you!

"The Grim Mile"

A challenging, brutal game of remorseless drinking, created amongst the many foul-mouthed patrons of the legendary ‘Grim Guzzler’. A drinking game so mighty, that it managed to creep out of the darkened halls of Shadowforge and into the drunken arsenal of Clan Wildhammer.

"Spitting"

A crude tavern game invented by Grahda Stormheart. It entails two challengers to go at it with their gutter-trash talk in the hopes of being the “quickest” and most creative in insulting the other. The winner usually gets bought a drink, or whatever the wager may have been.

Finished / 23:00: Scores will be counted, a winner of the 4th Highland Games will be crowned!

NOTE:

Between all the point earning games, refreshments / food will be catered for with the aid of Bronzebrew Meaderies for any and all who require refreshments!

There will also be opportunity for folks to sell wares / trade during the evenings.

A nail-biting final day ended with these scores:

The Bronzebeard: 5 Points
The Wildhammer: 8 Points
The Dark Iron: 9 Points

THE DARK IRON WIN!

And so ends another Highland Games, I’d like to personally thank all who attended this event. It’s always a pleasure to host, alongside our catering companions of The Bronzebrew Meaderies for supplying us all with the heartiest of grub and the sweetest of nectar!

Although it wasn’t meant to be for a first Wildhammer win, having fell at the last hurdle against the impressive Dark Iron. Morgrim Coalhammer bested Stormheart’s own Barkor Thunderfist in a tie-breaking game of Ramshead!

Can’t wait for the next one!
