What the Kul Tirans are based on the Cornish?
I don’t know any Cornish people personally but I know I’d be miffed if someone called me fat and said I reeked of fish.

I’m shocked! i moved to southwest of uk, came to wow end up loving the kultiran druid even made a post about how i love drustvar, but never realized that kul tiras is actually inspired in england even tho i know they are speaking same accent as south west. now makes sense tiragarde, stormsong are very british style areas. sometimes im just dumb…
Kul Tirans are based on witches from San Francisco who ate too much McDonald’s not some viking era pagans of South England. In case you missed the memo, most of the population starved or was malnourished back then. Not obese
It shows how ill informed you are you know nothing of UK and how the history of it is and KT are not fat they are burly a very different body type .
Seriously ? What about the Ice Cream ?
The Pasties where used by the Tin miners for their lunch break so they had main course and pudding in one easy to handle package.
Traditionally the crusts where thrown away as that was the bit you held the Pasty with and would be contaminated with nasty stuff from mining the Tin.
If you want to make a real Cornish Pasty then you have to find a kitchen in Cornwall to make it in, if it’s not made in Cornwall then it’s not legally a Cornish Pasty
Sure thing sweetie. They remind me of Robert baratheon, kinda like the petty kings of old lol
Please do not speak to me like that i am not your sweetie thank you .
The similarities are unparalleled

To give the place a genuine Cornish vibe they should have NPC’s called ‘Grockels’ dotted about…
…and lots of Cornetto adverts plastered all over the buildings.
How corny of them!
Of all the silly UK accents (Gilneans, Void Elves, Kul Tirans, Dwarves) I think KT is the only one even remotely close to an actual accent.
Yeah, the KT is definitely a regional accent but I’d say its more broadly South West than specifically Cornish. The rest of them are caricatures of what Americans think we all talk like.
I think it’s difficult for non-Brits to quantify how many different accents there are in such a tiny space and how much emphasis the Brits put on them displaying social standing.
Yeah the KT one is probably closest to the actual accent (male PC KT specifically).
The second point is often a bone of contention amongst brits, particularly when (usually americans) go “the british accent is really nice”. There are probably well over 50 (probably closer to 80) accents in Britain and they are very diverse. Someone from Kensington speaks nothing like someone from Bristol, whom speaks nothing like someone from Wales, whom speaks nothing like someone from Newcastle, whom speaks nothing like someone from Glasgow, to Liverpool, Birmingham etc. I’m a British native born and raised and despite us speaking the same language I have difficulty understanding people with thick Glasweigan accents or people who drop hardcore Newcastle lingo at me (ironically my accent is very close to the one KTs are meant to portray).
And yeah, spot on about the classism of it. “Regional accents” tend to be seen as indicators of lower class, whereas the kind of “mixed pot” of “queenish English/received pronounication” tends to be seen as indicators of higher class. The joke is more people in the UK speak with regional twang than they do the received pronounication stuff, but that tends to be what media focuses on as far as portraying Brits to other countries. Most of us don’t talk like that at all.
Recently moved to the west coast and i love the accent and hearing it in game is great. My new main is going to be my KT warrior i reckon
the Innkeeper certainly has a west country type accent
Accents in the game are generally to my liking except the hometown american spoken by “those good old boys” the pandarian farmers.
May I offer a slight correction here - the term 'Grockle ’ does indeed refer to people on holiday in the general SW region of the UK but the Cornish have a specific term, that term being “Emmits” ( I think that’s how its spelt). I’m originally from Weymouth in Dorset meself, not that it has any relevance
Wow that is a very dumb thing, these celts were in Cornwall and Devon before the actual Roman Empire.
Also the idea that everyone in history was unwashed or a literal stick figure is kinda like… not entirely true. Starvation was a bigger issue than today, but I like how you think some characters being bulky completely invalidates the clear Celtic Pagan roots of Kul Tiras
Indeed this is true, the Celts are actually the original English that where driven out by the Romans to the extremities of the Island (Cornwall, Wales and Scotland)
Yep! In fact the furthest Roman settlement in the SW of England was Isca (now known as Exeter actually, that city has Roman walls and tunnels and everything)
