[Leather Gear] Do Blizzard devs don't know how to make Leather gear look cool?

That could have been good. If it had a robe version. Not wearing that until they give it a robe. Or kilt.

I could have sworn I saw a robe version.

Hoping you did.

Honestly, I think all leather sets should have a tunic version, and a robe version, or leggings + kilt.

Leather is used by far too many conflicting specs to be that generic.

EDIT: I was too quick. Says how much faith I have left in the art team :joy:

I clearly said the links don’t work, sorry it insulted you personally to remove 1 space…?
As said, it’s very malfunctioning as I can post links elsewhere. The forum “permissions” is ridiculous.

Your statement stands - yeah, you like them plain and simple with 30% of the details (if even that), and with most leather pieces looking extremely blandly similar to eachother throughout the expansions.

All of them are horrible for Leather. Majority are accross All expansions.
If you can’t bothered to check the links of example why things are different, then you are skipping a big part of my side of the argument of why it’s bad.
I guess we call it a dead standstill due to that.

As a Main Leather wearer for 15 years; I hate the lackluster looks of all of the pieces we usually get compared to others armor.

This is gorgeous.

So far all we have is a clown-plain outfit that is EXTREMELY lacking in detail and love compared to the other sets.

Side"rant":
Since Puny told me some people CBA looking at peoples side of the argument if the forums mess up for them, forcing them to place space in the link, I now did it with the <|> from the start, when in the long respons I did I did not get told I was not able to post links, until I had finished THE ENTIRE post… while I can post links elsewhere.
Again; These forum permissions are really shady and badly implemented.

Colors are really, really dull, and overall it looks very similar to plenty of older pieces we have.

Anyone can do the links with </> button

I am not insulted. I am merely too lazy to faff around with a lot of links that people have purposely broken.

I wrote the -entire- post before I got told “You can not post links”.
Putting 1 space was faster than fixing the Preformatted text for each and every link, and removing 1 space did not seem like a huge effort if one is sincerely interested in a leather wearers side of the argument.

I think you are taking this all a bit personally.

I merely pointed out that some will not bother with links let alone multiple links they can’t just copy/paste or right click.

It was your choice update your post or leave it as it was.

Its not about being personal, it’s about taking a discussion properly or not.
I either listen to your side of the argument, or I ignore it.
You chose to ignore it cause you CBA’d to remove the space due to the system blocking me.

Yeah, editing it is up to me - but I rather just move on as I have stated my point, and those who bother with this will actually take the time to look.
I’ve had occassions before, on this site and on others, where a link can’t be clicked for one reason or another, or multiple, and if I am in a discussion or interested in knowing what is on the other side of those links:
I don’t mind removing a space, or at the extremes: Type out the entire address manually - meanwhile I get that you won’t.
:woman_shrugging:

You will get better engagement with links that work. I explained how you could do links.

Now you just want to argue about the fact that some will not want to bother with broken links.

The fundamental problem of Leather gear is that it is made out of a combination of plate, cloth objects and basic 3D textures and therefore it lacks a unique style and it’s own identity.

Pretty much all Leather sets look like either cloth sets or weird types of plate sets with basic 3D textures pretending to be leather.

This set is classified as a Leather set and yet it looks like any other Cloth set: https://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/928332.png

If we check entire leather collection we can find tones of examples like the one above and we also can find examples for Plate alike sets.

The other problem is that Leather sets are not very creative meaning we usually get either vague plant-based design or deer/owl set and that’s pretty much it. The exception is a bear-themed set which is kinda ok, but it could be done soo much better especially if it had some kind of coat instead just flat 3d texture pretending to be a shirt (which looks dumb on KT btw).

Leather set’s need unique pieces like coats, better 3D models of leather elements instead of 3D texturing or alternative type of robe. Something to make them look apart, different and unique.

They also need to be more substantial and diverse theme-wise becasue sometimes you can see that set was designed after a big cat but that big cat is lost in the entire design and all you see is just clusterf… of patterns which isn’t making much sense.

I would love to see set designed after Llothien Prowler or Vulpine Fam. mount. Also, we should have more druid sets designed around other cool forest animals and not god damn trees or vague plants.

Yes - and no. I believe you’re just not understanding my point of it due to it being textbased only, which causes most misscommunications in the world - I’d argue.
You opposed to my view of Leather, but did not check the links to check -why- I have an issue with Leather in the first place.
This places my side of the story in shade, as you did not look at my example of Same-ism or Bland-ism that Leather suffers from.
It’s very boring design compared to Cloth and Plate (And now also Mail for SL), and it’s color palette is even worse.

So… I’m not really arguing, I’d claim it’s a discussion about “how to have a valuable discussion”.
If one party holds their hands over their ears, the discussion is over before it even started!
Thanks for the link suggestion - but it was “too late” - and I am sure you might have understood by now.

Blinkrush here put it in a similar way as me - where the issue with our gear is the lack of design, beyond “crazy”-screaming druidic (Bear / Moose / Deer / Owl).
We have extremely few (I’d argue it’s perhaps 4-6 parts) that look “badass”, darker and a bit more elaborated.

Leather in itself is extremely plain in design, it’s lackluster and most often half the amount of detail Cloth and Plate gets (And now Mail, for SL).
It feels like we’re the B class, and the rest are A class, eventho there are more Leather users than there are any other type of armor-class.

I’m asking for some more variety.
As it is now, I can scroll to plenty of pages where our gear just looks the same everywhere.
The same pair of design for pants with EXTREMELY small changes happens, as well as the varying colors of Brown / Green (Or the pale/washed out-purple).
There are few pieces that stick out, on perhaps every second page there’s anything of a different color than very basic.

I just want some more hardcore design, more choice, more variety, while also being treated like a valuable player-class/armor-class.

It’s never too late

Also, the more people who are aware they can always do links (using </> button) regardless of trust level, the better.
