Gear should have stats that don’t change like they used too.

You idea is silly sorry to say and nothing like the MoP system which in my view was a good one . But no yours is awful .
Rather than choosing your own stats on an item, reintroduce static gem slots again. People would then be able to add stats to their gear, and it would definitely make jewelcrafting on par with herbalism in terms of gold making. Imagine a crafting profession being in top 3 professions, wow.
better idea, bring back specific gear from specific places and remove the STAT RNG entirely, give us something to actually work for.
Reforming is very different to what your saying.
Reforging allowed you to transfer a specific % of a stat across to a third stat. It didn’t let you translate 200 haste into 200 critical. It also had limitations in it.
What u propose is the ability to turn a piece of gear into your BiS for that ilevel. Which is very different
Reforging was good it allowed you to turn a worse piece of gear into a more useable piece of gear, however a BiS list still remained and hunting specific pieces was still a thing
As you still needed specific items to then reforge into the best combination.
Yours is worse because it means every drop in the game becomes a BiS and gear would lose further meaning due to it.
I say no to hard choosing our full stat priority but I fully agree with the OP that we live in a time where due to every piece of gear having a variation of every combination of stats it is highly frustrating to see stats you don’t need over stats you do need, especially considering the amount of gear now vs gear then, you’re much less likely to find that one piece of gear you want because the pool has been bloated artificially

It should go against the game itself and try out new things. Gear tweaking should be 100% in our hands. Do you clowns really love this rng rng rng? Are you seriously enjoying when wrong pieces drop purposefully whole time? Game needs way more player agency and less casino elements, but since 12+ people quit its not going to happen anyway. Gearing sucks and we are served with zero choices. Gear should be choice and falvour. Now its nothing but static and passive annoyance. If you feel good for gettinf rng pieces you seriously have something wrong with you. Not meaning directly you but most modern player base really dont know what the hell is going on. 99% probably never played real RPG anyway. Gear should be choice. You honestly worried developers would have less job to do? That would be extremely good thing. Let bos drop and we can tweak it however we want. And add sockets and enchants to it too. Random gear stats is bad gameplay/design.
You should stop making numbers up, it doesn’t add any weight to your OPINION. You are entited to your opinion and so is everyone else, people that disagree with you are not automatically “clowns”.
PvE items have fixed stats. You can look at the adventure’s guide for loot from specific bosses. Neither the secondary stats nor the azerite traits are randomly generated. So you can pick an item from a specific boss and go grind it out if you want.
But… that’d mean he’s wrong!
As much as I hate RNG, that idea is not good idea.
So, make sure all the stats have a somewhat equal value compared to other stats, and maintain this balance throughout the expansion. This way you can actually try different builds without messing up your output severely.
And while we’re at it; Reintroduce main stats on rings so a higher ilvl with the “wrong” offstats is actually not completely worthless.
Wrong off stats and rng stats is nothing but timegating. Fixed stats and reforging back thank you. And sockets and enchants. Let us interact with gear more. Its already boring passive stats anyway. D&D items are on whole different level.
I am going to tell you a Story.
I have almost 440 Ilvl, mostly heroic gear some M+
for MONTHS i had almost no crit, pure mastery and versa.
my best stats are crit and haste.
Right now my main stat is still mastery, Then crit, Then versa then Haste.
The items i need, The Rings, The gear it just doesnt drop. Its not as bad as a few months ago, but its bad.
My Azerite Traits are even worse. The Traits i need are not on my gear apart for 1 Item, My DPS Is decent and i wont really bother replacing alot of my gear because of the new patch.
My point is, I got high ilvl, but my numbers are slightly lacking because of the wrong stats on gear and the terrible TERRIBLE RNG and Luck on my part( Tough two titanforged trinkets … both bis… damn)

Yeha like current system is bad bad and bad really and there are people actually defending rng on rng. They sure are going to love Corrupted in next week which has TEN LAYERS OF RNG AND YOU WILL NEVER EVER GET FULL POWER. Gear should have full power. You only get full power now by luck. And its wrong.
Doing PVP should reward only gear that is useful in PVP and PVE should reward only gear that is useful in PVE, like it was in old days.
I agree. Maybe we could alter PvP stats from gear when it drops if it worls only in PvP. Since PvE heroes want random stats as the above indicates it wouldnt hurt them. Static rng gearing sucks no matter what you do in game.
If PvP gear is not coming back next expansion then templates must come back and work in duels and world-pvp also. Or noone going to participate. I still remember Legion 10 million HP Druid Tanks in W-PvP and it was ridiculously bad.
