Tbh I used to get annoyed by it, was all ‘Im straight not cis damn it’ but that was primarily my being averse to any and all change. Even at work when things change I -must- enforce a new structure or I’ll go mad.

Can’t really imagine getting annoyed by it for other reasons though.

But for the hyperconservative anti-woke lynch mob, it´s not just a word. It´s a personal affront, because they immediately assosciate it with a liberal mindset that doesn´t fit into their neanderthal picture of how the world is supposed to function, and is in their opinion the entire reason that the world that pampered them for all of their lives is slowly crumbling all around them, and they´re becoming afraid of being left behind and /or on the wrong side of history.

It was the same with Women´s equality in the 80s and 90s. It was the same with Black rights in the 60s and 70s, it was teh same with Slavery, and so on and so forth. And even now, decades or eveb centuries later, they still refuse to accept even those changes, much less anything new.

And because, historically, they ALWAYS lose in the end, even when they go so far as to start a literal war over it, it absolutely scares them :poop:less because they know that their archaic mindset is on the way out, And so they can only hope to perpetuate it for as long as possible using any means at hand, just so they don´t have to watch humanity evolve faster than they can :wink:

And this is coming fron a 55 year old, the predominant demographic that this mindset still resides in … when my generation and the ones before us are finally gone, the world can start to actually improve, because the younger generations mostly already grew up in globalized melting pots where these concepts were already widespread. As opposed to people my age running around still hating “the black man”, despite never actually having met one in their entire life becasue they never left the family farm :wink:

One would think so… but prejudice towards other humans based on things they never had any control over (Skin color, playe of birth, gender, sexual orientation, etc) Is already irrational in and of itself. We all bleed red.

So therefore when those prejudices become the prime motivator in their actions, it`s then hardly surprising when those actions too are irrational :beers:
