I’m 15 rep away from 1500 this is such a task.
Same thing happened to me, Before greedy there were people everywhere. Now at least on the Sha’tar you can not find even 5 for a rare. If you put in the 15- 20 mins to kill a rare with only 2 you get 25 rep and crap reward MAYBE. So now I seen LFG for reach not zara

Yes researchers under fire and digs and few events or WQ with loam 15 rep buff and it’s pretty fast
Just in case you did not know : the biggest boost is indeed the “Researchers under fire” event but that one is a weekly quest, the second biggest is the Niffledigs IF you get a bonus quest in there (I’ve done them all, got the Achievement, but I did not get a bonus each time), and finally the Dragon Races and WQs in the Nifflen Cavern all give a small amount of Renown, and those reset on realm restart day AND Saturday around 6 PM CET, so you can do TWO sets of “single player” WQs each week if you time it right.
The “multiple players” WQs and the various World Bosses give better Renown, and the “multiplayer WQs” also reset a second time on saturday, but the problem here is to actually find other players because trust me, soloing them is a nightmare … 10 million HP Bosses with lots of mechanics are meant to be hard, after all !
No rares you haven’t killed? They should drop a bag with 25 rep. Same for the popup events with the little yellow hunting horn icon.
Usually I find clearing the cavern of dailies (skipping elites), doing researchers and picking off a few random events will get to 1200+. I try to do that somewhere weds-friday, then take advantage of the midweek reset to get the last on sunday morning.
If you haven’t done the campaign; do that too. Every stage rewards a token worth 1500-2500 rep, and you do not have to immediately exchange them. I sat on 3 and just didn’t do any cavern activities for the first weeks 
It’s literally super easy to finish the 1500 without 100% or 200% rep bonus (if u are an alt up to 10 or up to 20 if your main is maxed).
1000 rep researchers under fire
250 rep you get from doing digs (you get BoA 250 rep token within 3 digs. One scroll dig is free, one is from vendor, one is from weekly Q. If you get your 250 BoA token first two tries save scroll for next week. If you didnt get it means you also completed weekly 1500 so you can save the 250 BoA for next week.)
WQs Reset day (you don’t even need to do them Saturday when they respawn lol)
Rank 3 contract is an option too.
Skip rares they are waste of your time. You could do some mini events that reward 25 if you want.
Only issue i can think about 1500 rep is if someone doesnt do the researchers and doesnt do anything at cave till Saturday and miss first set of WQs.
