Mage Tower Availability Extended and Tuning Adjustments

I joined theater of pain +14 earlier trying to raise score on my druid, tank was like ā€œi’ll pull all into bossā€. I pointed out that it’s bolstering. Then he pulls everything into boss and we wipe and he leaves while calling us noobs. Maybe would have been doable if not for it being bolstering and tyrannical together. Guy had timed a 19 as his highest key.

Exactly! If you don’t actually know dungeon mechanics and affixes, you can be 252 geared and still fail.

Nerf freaking Xylem please ! Doing it on my DH, the dps at the end is so tight I literally cannot do it.

I finished after 5 tries in Legion expansion when I could kite that Thing of Nightmare if you dont soak. But, this patch 9.15 you cant. Just die insant why? Sometimes it spawns when you soak it, I dont even know if it was bug.

If you compare Legion expansion and this patch, it is much harder than Legion expansion.

The main adjustment the mage tower needs is for it to also give everything it had at legion.

I already have them all but others do not.

Then all the previous ā€œchallengeā€ content needs to also be back just like the mage tower with all the transmogs from back then. Even if they are harder than they used to be.

The game needs such evergreen content and not time limited mobile game style events

This game is already way past its peak so if you want to keep more people interested for more than 1 month’s sub per patch, you need to give them things they will happily come back to like good transmogs from the past

Apparently the top of the top. According to wowhead there’s 1% of profiles that has the achiev (ofcourse thats probably not the entire picture since not everyone has a wowhead profile, but still).

I’ve been bashing my head against this challenge for at least 12 hours over the last week, i’ve made it past stage 1 a total of 7 times. Made it to the final stage 3 times out of those 7 and one of them it was bugged and the boss gave me ignite before he jumped giving me no way to loose hp and we wiped when it went off. I’m so tilted by this challenge i unsubbed just so i could send in the feedback form (which they probably dont read).

I know i can do it, but taking 30 attempts between each time i get past stage 1 tells me stage 1 migt need just a bit more tuning. Also those stupid npc’s dont even attack the same target, dont know how many times i have wiped to having double soldiers up both at 50% health cause the npc’s just attack randomly and not my target. Fun healing through that many double blade dances and double fixates.

I never had that last phase bug. That would force some ā€œholy cow!ā€-shouts for me :grimacing:
And yeah, the stupid group can not decide which soldier to kill after killing the mage. It is facepalming :frowning:

Oh you’ll notice, all the nerf MT topics will be replaced by all the elitists crying that MT got nerfed :sweat_smile:

So now I can throw all my hours of gear farming to trash because Blizzard nerfed most of old enchants and gems. Why those devs are so trash people?

I laughed but in a wincing empathetic way!

I spent more tries on the tank challenge than was reasonable (I’m stubborn, ok!) Now I’ve moved on to the healer challenge, in fairness, less than an hour in and I’ve been to phase 2 three times. Those eyes are meaner than I recall from Legion though, I’ve already racked up comedy deaths!

I can’t conceive healing through 2 blade flurry things, I’m guessing those mobs aren’t hex-able?
I essentially cc every single blade flurry or I’m toast. Luckily and surprisingly a pala has good tools for that. I’ve seen really really good priests fail the healer challenge so I’m not coming out of retirement!

Good luck though, persistence (or in my case blind stubbornness) can be a positive trait.

No they are undead, so i can cap totem the first one, the rest i just have to heal through. I think the different healers struggle in different parts. A druid friend of mine had alot of issues with healing the ghosts in stage 5 as an example while i just heal them in one riptide + healing surge. The mages damage is also alot higher for resto shamans cause we can purge and interrupt.

I’m stubborn aswell, thats why i’m still going. Gonna cave in and try some bfa consumables now (if there are any to find on this ah, server is more then dead).

Edit: First try with bfa consumables and i got through stage 1 without even burning all my cooldowns. Maybe i got lucky, or maybe that 40’ish extra int actually helps!

It seems alot more doable with the bfa consumables. Hopefully i’ll get it done tomorrow. Got the endboss to 75%, but need to find the sweetspot for my own hp and focus a bit more on keeping the npc’s topped. Too tired to try anymore tonight (been at work for 13 hrs).

no, that would suck.

Been doing it on and off on the paladonk this evening. First time I got cleanly to the end, BL, pot, got it even worse, he somehow jumped on me and missed so I was at 100% health and went full jihad on my party members. Colour me impressed.

I get through the first room 9 times out of 10 though, I’m just a bit special in some other spots :grin:

      • Blood Death Knight, Vengeance Demon Hunter, and Guardian Druid
        • Nether Storm no longer recasts immediately after being silenced or interrupted.
      • Guardian Druid
        • Reduced the size of Inquisitor Variss’ Aura of Decay by 0.5 yards.
    • Thwarting the Twins
      • Fixed an issue where players could get out of range of Raest Magespear’s spells. Raest Magespear’s damage bonus when Karam Magespear is defeated first has been reduced to compensate for the change.
      • Fixed an issue that caused enemies summoned during the encounter to despawn prematurely.

Not sure what good that will do. I never had a problem with the aura, it’s the knockbacks that kill me.

So they have closed off the only way to clear this so now you are forced to take shadowbolt spam.

This isn’t a nerf this is a bug fix to make it even more unenjoyable.

MT shouldn’t be even about your own gear.

Each player should have fixed stats applied to him the moment he enters the challenge which replace w/e players has. This way everyone is tested in the same way, and it’s easier to balance MT.
