Oblivion is another spell with enormous design problems (as well as having a name and graphics that do not go well with the Affliction theme). Two shards, a long CD, channeling that is not diminished by haste, also requires a setup with all DOTs to maximize damage. But all it takes is a half knockback, a kick, a necessary shift that you lose in the order: time, a talent, two shards
While I agree that Malefic Rapture is still an important ability, even as Hellcaller, the specilization does not revolve around Malefic Rapture, like Soul Harvester does. You can clearly see that in the damage profile.
For me Soul Harvester is a very fast paced hero specilization and where your main damage dealer is Malefic Rapture whereas with Hellcaller, you can make the build around your DoTs rather than Malefic Rapture. Plus it plays a lot slower than Soul Harvester.
But still, you have to spam MR due to stacks or gear bonus everytime as possible… Or not, but then your dmg profile will be weak
It’s just so boring, sometimes im generating so many soul shards that I can keep spamming it. I wish it would cost at least 2 like Chaos Bolt or Demon Bolt. Or spend all active Souls Shards for extra DoT time or damage or something.
Or just a talent that would boost the damage or UA and make it cost a Soul Shard haha
Well in demonology you have to spam hand of guldan instead. And shadow bolt. But still it is somehow more funny
Feels much more impactful and diverse imo
im really enjoying playstyle of aff warlock both soulharvester/hellcaller, we could use some %tuning and maybe add soulburn/SoC instant that be amazing
To be fair, since the buffs I have been playing Hellcaller and it indeed feels rather good. However, yesterday while raiding I thought “I’m going to switch back to Soul Harvester for a boss or two”. During the fight I immediately regret the decision. It was really hard to get rid of all the Nightfall procs and spamming Malefic Rapture at the same time. It feels like you need to be on steroids to be able to do well with the class.
It’s safe to say that I immediately swapped back to Hellcaller after the fight. It feels so much better in terms of managing your resources. It’s a shame that the spec is played by less than 5%, except for Silken Court. And all that because Soul Harvester does a bit more damage, people are putting up with a spec they don’t enjoy, while Hellcaller might be more what they’re looking for.
For me it doesn’t matter, even if Soul Harvester does a bit more damage, I’m staying with Hellcaller because I’m having fun with it.
I think the main reason why ppl play more SH is comfort. Seriously for normal world playing it is superior due to nightfall procs. For mobs, lets say to max 20M health, it is more comfortable. And, of course, it is one skill less to manage. And for raid single target it is not so much problematic to manage nightfalls. However, it is sure more boring
Soulburn needs to add more adition :
- Soulswap /adds all dots to your current target
- Seed Of Corruption / becomes instant with bigger aoe
I’d love to see changes to nightfall exmpl:
- Drainsoul become castable while moving (if you play with DS talent)
Soul rot reduced to 30sec like in SL/DF
Burning rush dmg needs to be reduced, what we have now cant be even used on pvp ><
(those suggestions are for aff/SH)
What did you expect… Bliz is more busy doing recoloring stuff at the Trading Post
And updating Mage and its visuals as well as Void Elf racial updates.
