Maybe no flying in new zone next patch (spoilers)

“Then again, it is worth noting that the island is fairly small, roughly the size of other Battle for Azeroth island expeditions”.

Small space = no need for flying.

Its not everyones cup of tea but I’m looking forward to the no flying.

At least until I’m sick of the place and just want to do whatever we have to do daily (I assume) and get it over with quickly. So hopefully there will be some kind of pathfinder to unlock it eventually or have increased mount speed / other more convenient ways of getting round.

Good. And later unlock it via achiev ( and make it an achiev all players have to do, and not only the players who prefer steady flight…).

This the first time in 20 years of WoW’s history that I’ve lost interest in a piece of content before it even hits PTR, nice going Blizzard.

I do remember Korthia, and I spent as little time there as possible, the place was dreary, unfun and repetitive.

Timeless Isle was playable, but flying wouldn’t of made it worse.

Flying has been around since Burning Crusade, this discussion has been dead for 17 years, why Blizzard tries to bring it back continually is as bad as the high elf threads on these forums.

100% agree with this
I personally had always more fun during the first few weeks of expansion when there was no flying.
Big pvp fights always happened
now everybody just stays above and attack when they see your HP being low xD

I don’t PvP nor do I find being killed by other people a fun part of the daily experience, thanks for reminding me of another reason why flying was awesome.

This could actually be interesting depending on how they do it

Usually i would say that if there is an achievement to unlock it then it’s fine, but not this time. Dragonriding, unlike old flying, has gameplay attached to it, and that is the reason why in my opinion they can no longer limit flying for patch content. If it turns out that we can cross the tiny island in 5 seconds then the problem is not flying, but using a tiny island as patch content.

It’ll be like Korthia, as the 1 person who’s pro this content stated, meaning we go there for 20 minutes a day to get the ring, tolerate the no flying as it’s for 20 minutes, and the island will otherwise be wasted.

A shame, but if they wish to treat players as they have this time out, we’ll reply in kind.

I have a super hot take:

If you want to explore the zone on foot, you are free to do so, but don’t force the same on me, okay? I prefer to fly.

Also using Korthia as an example of how things should be done is simply laughable, given how almost everyone hates Korthia. :joy:

If people don’t like fast and easy leveling, they can take off their armour. If people don’t like flying, they can run. But why the hell are you trying to impose your preference on other people? Sit down lmao.

I remember running 500km to reach rare elites before they die in 2 seconds. So much fun was it.

You can stay on ground, noone force you to fly.

Is what Blizzard said to the cry babies who wanted flying :woman_shrugging:

I’m not the one whining about flying destroying muh preshush connection to the MMO world here. :joy:

Let Blizzard do what they want with the Island, when the activity there is far below expectations, they’ll allow flying, like mounting and the maw.

Inb4 time based events that are over in a minute so unless your there when it starts you’re missing out for an hour.

Have not checked out the prepatch myself so going to take wowheads word on that its the size of the BFA island expiditions. In which case even regular flying will be pointless. I do hope they allow ground mounts at least.

My only real concern is the number of players per shard, as we already know the more there are the harder the servers strain. Lag will most likely be a secondary factor of why the zone will die a sudden death.

Let us hope they have learnt from the past and do what they did with Korthia and put a 2 minute plus bubble on the elites. Either that or make sure their HP is so high that nobody can solo them.

Wouldn’t it be better to then ask to not have the grind extended to months and instead allow us to be done with it within X weeks, where X is the burnout point?

It’s always disappointing when they choose to ground us. It was a breath of fresh air in the Forbidden Reach to be able to fly in an end game zone.

Good news - it appears that the new ring offers a way to unlock flying in the new area!
