My thoughts on Exile's Reach

I’m still looking for the plate boots for my American paladin

Which would you prefer, “mortal” or “champion”?

I don’t know from Fortnite or from Hearthstone, and I don’t think that it is entirely different from WoW. I mean, you want “different from WoW”, just try rolling a Goblin! So while I agree with your general direction, and you wrote it well, it doesn’t seem quite as extreme to be as it does to you.

ER felt to me like some dumbed-down island off Draenor. It was obviously engineered to introduce new players to some of the things they would use anyway, and then kick them out ASAP. My problem with ER is that it has no flavour at all. None. It’s like sucking on an icicle instead of eating ice cream. I hope never to see it again. When I compare it to the atmospheric starting zones of WoW, I have to wonder whether its designers ever played the game.

I support offering ER as the default option to new players, but not forcing them into it. I can … maybe … kinda … support offering BfA as the default option to new players, but not forcing them into it. I’ve fielded a few problems with the forcing already over on Newcomers forum.

I do hope they back off the forcing.

Looked wow to me… or maybe I have been here too long and everything seems to look wow to me by now.

Champion…no talking lizard should be disrespecting a hero of Azeroth!

What killed me was the part where you had to do a dungeon (I think it was the end) where two or three NPCs were part of your party. Like what the hell?

If there are other people queueing, you will be partied with them.

Blizzard obviously don’t want new players stuck there all night waiting for other people to queue up, so if there isn’t a very quick party, they fill in with NPCs.

as a wow vanila player i think that this great to lore new people kids from the new era into too the game remember we are getting older and kids have diff taste than we once did.

I think you’re objectively wrong on this.

It is okey. Just annoying buggy. Open your bag- I open it zilion times and its still ask me to do it,same with spellbook.

‘‘kids’’ like to play dark souls where 1 death means restart

so no. making cartoony, easy content will not attract new players ‘‘kids’’

Genni Greymi Doo!

I had the same horrible experience with it.

If that is what I was represented with as a new player today, I am pretty confident I would not have stuck around.

They really should open up the actual racial starting zones to new players. Exile’s reach can still be an alternative, but nobody should be forced into that in my honest opinion. It does not serve as a good starter experience, when it’s the only option you have.

That’s your problem. I’ve played wow since vanilla and the only ‘bad thing’ for me in exiles’ reach was the constant spam from the buttons telling me what to do. I can only image that new players will tire of that rather quickly. As for claiming the claw thing was ripped right out of fortnite, it’s been done in the game before, it isn;t new. The only new assests on that whole island were parts of the armor sets and weapons.

i want play wow hardcore meen death is perm. like they have in diablo .
if ur the hero of azzorth and u die ur dead no comeing back unless someone els ress u. this is why i level every chacther tru ironman challange death is not a alternative.

I thought it was very well done except for a couple outliers.

I tried to play it from a new players pov and found a couple areas a player could get completely stuck on.
Theres a quest that wants you to go down a spiral cave, the quest marker points you to the bottom of the cave when the actual npc is at the top, the marker changes when the npc has disappeared, not sure why she disappears but she did for me.
After few minutes trying to get out cave i couldnt find a way to get out and had to unstuck, something a new player will not be able to do or rather not know they can do.

The optional elite quest i feel is a bit much, there won’t always be people nearby to do it and after about 8 minutes of waiting i tried to solo it.
Went in no looms as warrior and i had to use potions, kite during cds and abuse victory rush on other mobs to get it down.

It is optional quest, but long term i think this quest will frustrate a lot of new players.
I think even just having an ai npc help out if no player is around would suffice.
Again i know its optional but i also know i personally like to do every sidequest available on a new game, i even still do that on new leagues in poe from time to time.

It was a fun little area and massive improvement overall.

The tutorial is a bit annoying though as it seemed to turn back on after every /reload.

The only real negative i have to say about it is targeted at failed opportunity.
This zone is the perfect start to justify much more race class combos which would really have been a great thing. I think allowing chromie time enabled accounts to play dks, dh and/or allied races would also be great.

so cromie time is kinda time travel so why dont we time travel and privent Shadowlands from happening and everything els … he who controlls times is besicly god of everything becourse time controlls everything.

This haunt my nightmares…

Anyway: i like Exile’s reach. Is really straightfoward. And i dont know how fortnite and hs are.
