The encounter is bad because it sends the last person standing down and resets pretty much as soon as your feet leaves the ground. It shouldn’t reset, let me do the stupid gauntlet even if he target me with the freeze and comet storms during it.
Actually as a tank i got sent down first with all alive to this day no idea why but it can happen .
Seems like a bug
I was like why is the happening to me
It’s designed like that so people dont just go around soloing entire dungeons with no problem
What is problem with soloing dungeons ?
There is a huge difference between:
“The boss can reset the fight by itself with its abilities.”
– versus –
“The boss can reset the fight by itself – when there is only one player left – with its abilities.”
The reality is - neither dungeons nor raids are meant to be done by a single player, nor should you blame ‘the fight’ if four of your party died. That isn’t a boss problem - it’s a party problem.
There are numerous encounters throughout the game that have this, be they dungeon or raid-based. I recall people struggling to solo-farm the WoD raid back in the day against the two giant bosses near the start because one of them will grab a player for a suplex and become untargetable in the process, resetting the fight if the bosses are not dead beforehand or if there are no other targets.
There’s a fight in a Legion raid where the encounter would reset if a solo player spent too much time inside the bosses cauldron, and so forth.
In almost all cases, the issue eventually becomes non-existent during mog-farming thanks to scaling in terms of older content. In newer content, you can’t blame the boss for your group getting smashed to a point where it resets with only one target left, regardless of whether it had 1% health or 100% health.
Funny then how nalthor is the only boss that does this in the dungeons we’ve got now.
The only other boss that could potentially reset is tredova but you can stop that from happening there.
Regardless of whether you find it funny or not, that doesn’t change or even address the point that was made.
There are countless mechanics in dungeons and raids across multiple games that, in some way, involve more than one player. It is, after all, group content, be it small or large-scale. There’s a reason why Blizzard specifically chose PF for a solo-based achievement and not something like NW.
I inwardly cringed - especially in the past - when dealing with Hellfire Citadel siege as a solo-player, or had to solo the airship battle in ICC, as easy as they are now thanks to scaling – but one can’t complain because, again, they are not designed with solo-play in mind.
5-man dungeons are 5-man dungeons. Your group failed due to four dying to a boss with a teleport mechanic. That’s the short end of it.
But players dying isn’t solo-play.
See above post.
There is nothing in it that justifies this trash design of a boss resetting itself with its abilities. He should just send the last target down to the gauntlet and wait for them to come back or die in the gauntlet.
You can immunity Dark exile so it won’t drag you down. You’re on clock after that tho since when the debuff expires you die.
This is not a design problem, any boss that has “mind control” or “teleport” phases that sends away a number of players and continues fighting the rest has this type of behavior.
It is a technical limitation that IF the boss must attack a target, and a target is NOT present, then it resets. Think of this like a “wipe”.
There is a number of such bosses that have mechanics that make it almost impossible to solo. Think of it like Muezala from DoS, if at the start people die to mechanics, you can try to solo it, but unless u can as a tank, reliably solo kill the ghosts, you will wipe.
Seems like you are blaming “poor design” when in fact you got no1 to blame but yourself, and maybe your teammates.
Nope.
In BFA you got pulled to it if they couldn’t attack you or they got pulled to you. How do I know this? Because I accidentally ran over one of the boxes by Harlan and got pulled into him. Harlan didn’t just reset because you ran over a box and became unreachable for him, he pulled you to him.
Kul’tharok also doesn’t reset when someone is untargetable, instead he’ll start casting an ability that does damage.
Yes, I’m to blame because the boss is badly designed and reset itself.
Oh, also, I forgot to comment on this:
I got dark exile as the healer, while people were alive.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the tank can get it while people are alive as well
You can see that they are on the platform on the minimap, with the tank. Yet I got dark exile.
Harlan was actually an exemption because of an abuse that got fixed (that bugged the boss and people could get loot).
I do not know if Kul Tharok can be reset, but that ability you are referring to is if he has no MELEE target (which is another design, same as last boss pf).
The thing is that blizzard chose to make the boss, require more than one player. Even if he did not reset, there would be a huge stacking aoe (like the aforementioned boss), or the boss would follow you and do every mechanic at the same time.
If your problem is that the dungeons are designed for 5 players then there is nothing to be done for that.
Why are you linking to a page with bots and other hacks?
Because this was the first result for harlan reset protection, and it actually explains how they abused and that blizzard fixed this. I did not pay attention to what forum that was so will remove the link to be sure.
RIP Solo content and mount farming…
