Is someone looking into this? It is creating problems with “player offline” when somebody invites me as my old name is now used by another char.
It’s more than annoying because people in community thinks I’m a different person 
Also happening to me. Old/Previous realm being shown on a number of toons, and also the same toons not being shown in my guild roster
have same issue, some actually show online even though I have not logged them in ages (on old realm) plus those that i transferred from old realm and other faction now show as from old realm and old faction, good laughter in a horde guild to see me as alliance 
There is a small patch for WOW this morning and this issue has been fixed for me in game…or not. It came back later.
Mine seemed to sort itself out a couple of days ago … I logged out one day with it broken, and logged back the day and it seemed fine. Although I have been careful since to stick to the one character, as it seemed to trigger, for me, when I switched characters (may have been a coincidence though 
)
Actually … it’s not fixed. It looks fixed to me, but another guild member is reporting that his is showing both himself and my character is on the old realm.
Yes - after logging out and back in a while ago it’s variable. Some people see me on the correct realm, others see me on a realm in transferred from.
It’s very strange - and very irritating.

Tossing my name in the ring of bugged characters. Both this, and my warlock appear online but from my old server. This only started happening post 10.0 pre-patch.
I also tried leaving the guild and being invited back in, and that didn’t fix it. Guild roster has my character at the very bottom of the offliners, but colored as if I’m online and everything, along with a few others (including, oddly enough, some Alliance characters that shouldn’t be able to be in a Horde guild, right?)
My personal working theory is that we’re seeing some bleedthrough of communities being cross-faction, and guilds using the same code to function. Maybe this points to the whole cross-faction guilds thing that could be on the way. Maybe not. I don’t know.
Having the same/similar issue with my priest with just a name change, which I purchased last night. The new name shows on the login screen but is the old name in chat, whispers, on my character info, etc. I have held off joining my guild with the character to spare the confusion. Frustrating…especially for a paid service.
Instead of neverending writing here please report a bug in game.
I can’t speak for others but I’ve submitted a bug report. I would like the issue to be acknowledged as it’s clearly affecting a chunk of players. Same as the stuttering issue elsewhere.

Yep, getting the same here.
This Hunter was previously an Orc on Kilrogg (before moving to Silvermoon via Magtheridon and then onto Dentarg). However when I chat in guild it says Sar-Kilrogg, not Sar-Dentarg.
Same thing is happening with my Paladin, who’s been round the various servers above alongside my Hunter, and she’s showing up as Avengers-Magtheridon, despite the fact that she’s Sár-Dentarg.
Somewhat annoying, and definitely not an addon issue, as I’ve deleted ElvUI in the past few days due to other issues there around profiles not saving, so atm I’m using the Base UI chat.
