You know, i’d be fine with that. But at least the motivation that drives the Horde forward is a tangible and valid one.
Even if Genn isn’t as bloodthirsty as he is portrayed to be (yes, it was very over the top), even from an Alliance perspective we know he’d rather push said attack even further. This dialogue, is still motivational enough for the Zandalari to tag along this war and have a solid reason to hold their animosity against the Alliance.
Also i’m really happy that Rastakhan was portrayed as regal as he was. And thats basically shared for both points of view.
Is it a shame they didn’t have a more aggressive and flawed stance for Genn? Kind of. But it doesn’t really bother much.
So far, i’m just glad the Zandalari are given such an obvious casus belli. At least they will have no problem regarding taking this war wherever it takes.
I’ll also hold my thoughts with this whole “unreliable narrator”, as it could go in plenty ways. Including creating a biased lens from even players perspective.
That bastard lost his son, his daughter went to play knives with Shaw, and now wants to take our troll women to raise them as his…damn him and his Dog Lineage!
To be fair, and I say this without reading the other 23 comments, I doubt being a vassal-state of the Alliance is worse then being a vassal-state of the Horde…
When Sylvanas decides she wants to make Silvermoon her home, and is willing to sacrifice every Blood Elf on the frontline while doing so… There is literally nothing Regent-Lord Lor’themar Theron can do against it, except rebel.
When Anduin decides to make Shadowforge City his new seat of power, they Dark Irons can just tell him to sod off. Because he holds no power whatsoever with them, except over the troops they lend to the Alliance Military.
Long story short; if you look at the overall picture; being a vassal-state of the Alliance is probably better for any race then being a member of the Horde in that regard.
Funnily enough The Alliance is an alliance of nations, not an actual country/empire of sorts. People and nations can freely join and leave it.
While sure there is a High King but that is basically a military title which the various nations don’t have to follow as seen by Tyrande.
I dunno’ how an alliance would subjugate another nation, would it be forcing them to join the alliance group? Is it just an vassal state of Stormwind or what?
Zandalari are the first faction of the Horde that won’t have Warchief’s authority over them. They’re allied race in the very meaning of this word, and Talanji twice emphasised it, that Zandalari will only bow to the throne in Zul’Dazar and their faction is joining Horde as equals, not subordinates.
And I believe that giving princess again as hostage to be at Alliance mercy, disabling Zandalari and her father to act for possibility to harming the only heir of the throne is the worse condition.
Rastakhan’s death not only reignited rage of Zandalari but it did something that Zul failed at - it united all troll tribes. It’s not gonna be just Darkspears and Zandalari that will take this invasion personally, but the tribes that were previously not getting along will join their cause.
Rastakhan knew what he was saying when stating that Zandalar will previal no matter what will happen in his chamber.
In fact (Sorry Morri) I believe his stance and his sacrifice already makes him a far better leader than two nelven lovebirds that are currently in leadership. Zandalari will born a new generation even more determined to achieve greatness and who will fight even more fierce than before.
Night elves still cling to the stuff from the past and put all their hope in the leadership, but I don’t see any new face coming out that would be ready to take things over if the worst would happen.
I read that before, and I firmly belief that is nice! I just wish the Sin’dorei would’ve been the first to do that. Because to be fair, the Horde has been in need of that change since Vanilla WoW.
Abit late, in my opinion, but a good chance I and I like that Queen Talanji keeps emphasising this. Now if they would show as much. Because with the dialogue of High-Chieftain Baine Bloodhoof getting arrested, she sounds a damn lot like just another subordinate of the Banshee-Queen instead of an equal.
Why? If he would give her over to the Alliance, I am fairly certain Anduin won’t just randomly throw her in the Stockades but treat her with more respect then the Warchief has ever given any Horde-leader. The only reason Talanji was probably throw into the stockades before was because they were an enemy they fought in Pandaria, and proved to be an worthy enemy to boot… WHich was trying to align itself with the Horde.
Have we any proof of this? Because I for one would love for that to truly happen. But as it stands now, the Horde is still slaughtering its way across multiple Troll Tribes, alongside the Alliance.
I doubt the death of one, although respected, King is not enough to make the Trolls suddenly forget what the Horde and Alliance alike did to multiple Troll Tribes before that.
No need to apologize for that. I to admit that Blizzard has failed at portraying High-Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind and Archdruid Malfurion Stormrage as leaders equal to King Rastakhan or King Anduin Wrynn or even King Genn Greymane and Chieftain Vol’jin!
We agree on that. Even if Commander Jarod Shadowsong returned to the Kaldorei scene alongside Archmage Mordent Evenshade, they are “old” heroes. WHo have been around since the War of the Ancients and the Kaldorei, alongside many other races, are severly lacking a new generation of leaders and heroes who are more relateable!
I mean how can we, as simple Human beings, ever relate to the many 10,000+ years old characters who lead the Kaldorei?
Still shouldn’t princess of the Zandalari get a better treatment? That is not an ordinary troll after all, and in the end it was Alliance that tried to sink her ship and kill her.
And lastly, Alliance never had any good history with trolls, quite the oppsoite. Talanji at least knew Darkspears and Vol’Jin so she reached out to faction that she felt she could find some common understanding.
This is during his funeral.
I don’t think that it means trolls would join the Horde, they’d assist Zandalari alone, and the reason was that Alliance struck at their most holy place, the cradle of their civilization. So I think it would be more like other troll tribes would not interfere with horde and would hunt down Alliance. But truth to be told I doubt it would be shown in game at all.
It’s very unlikely to happen seeing incoming content of patches.
I liked Staghelm more anyway. But gotta say I regained some respect for Malfurion during War of Thorns.
At least one fresh face that is simply competent and is occupied on making nelves prevail would be good enough.
I think that super long living races has the biggest danger to become underwhelming as their failures hurt more. You cannot give them free pass for being young and inexperienced it’s always refuced to - “Gee, all that superior intelligence, super long lives, and even magic/ technology - and you get owned by some regular stuff”.
And if they act like teenagers it’s even more embarrasing.
Risking his own life and the lives of his people, forcing them to live under the thumb of a death god while burdening his daugther with such a dark power for the sake of pride is not a smart descision.
It doesn’t bother me at all. Death is natural part of life cyckle and Darkspears were cool with him for years, Vol’Jin was his favorite and he didn’t have any issues. Bwon was also so nice that right afterwards he made an offer for freedom if Talanji would kill Sylvanas - so abomination in his eyes.
Perhaps Bwonsamdi’s powers should’ve been used more carefully- maybe Rastakahan on his death saw same thing Odyn saw - that is a speculation but Bwon isn’t malicious being. He is just doing his job as Hades.
I didn’t like Rastakhan’s line but so far Bwonsamdi haven’t done anything bad yet - quite the opposite. He helped defeat blood trolls, he helped defend Zuldazar directly twice he was even directly participating in fight beside the king. He is really doing his part of the deal. Who knows - maybe Talanji will warm up to him.
Well who are the one telling the horde players about the “alliance advance”?
I mean ofcourse the faction who tells the story will alter it a bit to change the narrative, in their favor. Horde will see alliance as “savages” who didn’t even offer Rastakhan a chance to surrender in a honorable fashion, even go as far as to claim they wanted Talanji as ensurance.
I bet if we really analyze the story from both perspectives there will be quite some more differences in the retold dialogues and events. However hordes reaction between Gelbin and up to Jaina will most likely be very much influenced by the retold story of the alliance initial assualt.
