New GPU for Shadowlands

Currently Im using LG 27GL850 (1440p-144Hz IPS) and oh my it’s such a good experience. It’s the current gaming sweetspot for better quality at high framerates. Can fully recommend.

As I’ve said, I’m not an ultrawide guy. Literally everybody recommends me to get an ultrawide. I really just don’t like them . All I want is to have double 27" setup, where I already have one that I will use as a second monitor, and I’ll surely get another 27" 1440p 144hz monitor for my main monitor. Yeah it’s kind of crap that my CPU got kind of old really fast, I know that I’ve bought the sh*ttiest series there could be, but I really had to ugprade back then, because my old PC was barely handling WoW. I did think this through back then though, and I’ve got a good cooler and motherboard in order to overclock my CPU whenever I have the need for that. In case I do, I’ll just OC it to at least 4.8GHz, which should give me at least another expansion of trouble-free playing. To be honest, currently my CPU spikes to like 60% only when I’m in Dazar’alor, whenever I’m in a less populated zone, it stays at about 20%, and in raids it never goes that high, so it should be okay for now. I actually found an interesting research about CPU usage in BFA on google, if you’re interested I’ll find it again and link it to you. The conclusion there was that for raiding and just normal playing you don’t need and won’t use more than 4 cores at all, the higher GHz actually does more then, however when you’re in a really crowded space, WoW tends to use more of your other cores, and then you’re actually better off with more cores. Sure, an rtx3070 will get bottlenecked by my CPU, maybe not now, but in the future, however building a PC alltogether is a really big investment, and as I did before, I feel more comfortable buying stuff one at a time. Basically when I bought all of the parts 3 years ago, all of them together were a little bit more expensive than a 1080ti itself. So I had to literally invest double the money to get a new GPU with my build, considering I bought everything high-end.
Bigkeg you are right to a certain point. The whole idea of this topic was “Should I buy 30 series now or wait for 20 series prices to sink?”
What does it mean to get a good price on 2080TI? It’s currently 1350 euro here for a Palit in my country. Considering RTX3070 should be with the same performance (even a little higher), I should be able to buy a 2080TI for 400 Euro or less for it to be worth it.
Abyzou, that Viewsonic looks kind of cool, it’s a little cheaper than the LG that I was looking at. I really don’t like to buy TVs/monitors without actually seeing them in place, so I’ll just go with whatever I can see on the shelf. I’ll surely try and find this one somewhere so I can check it out. If you have any other monitor suggestions in that price range, I’ll consider checking them out!

would be used. they’re going for about €500 where i am, but at that price it’s not worth it imo unless you just don’t want to wait for ampere (assuming you’ll even be able to purchase them early on).

Most will try and sell their 2080ti’s as near to 3070 prices as they can get. But it’s not worth it really.

They’re second hand so you don’t know how much someone has overclocked, run the card constantly for folding at home or finding crypto currency.

So unless you really know the person selling the card and trust their word, you’re taking a risk. If it means saving up a bit more, I would get the newer cards from Nvidia and AMD, then you have manufacturers guarantee that comes along with it, whether a founders edition or a 3rd party card which some are cheaper, some are dearer than the founders.

Forgot 2080ti, go for a 3070 if you have a decent PSU, depending on CPU used, 700-750 watts is needed.

Or Navi 2  Or a sale on 2080 Ti, 2070 Super and alike. In some regions prices on new cards already got a sizeable cut.

Your thinking is actually a little bit off again. Okay, so people will bring their 2080ti down to about 3070 price. The point here isn’t that. You’re getting a ‘used’ card, which means it’s depreciated, it’s (soon to be) out of warranty, etc etc. I doubt that there will be a sale on brand new 2080ti’s and alike that justify the price.
I’m not even going to consider Big Navi, even if they have better performance. AMD drivers make me sick, I want to clean my PC off of this pest.

Nah, that’s the retail price after RTX 3070 stock will settle down. If it will be like 5% better than 2080 Ti then they will have to undercut the price of 2080 Ti below it. Used cards will be even cheaper - as they are used. So depending on given budget you can go Ampere, discounted new Turing or used Turing.

If you go budget , Gtx 1660 “high” not the middle range goes are 200-250 eu.
If you go for high pick up , go for 1080 or 1070 and of course price goes up as well 300-500 eu
