Live Love Laugh vibes .
If you want more lore accurate racials that richards one is perfect, 2 HS locations as humans put up homes everywhere.
You don’t have portals from org to inn in amirdrassil.
Hearthstones are great for binding them to places closest to current raid tier. Nevermind that it’s op for collecting legacy content.
And it will be…?
Yep it’s bad.
If it had been the ability to set your hearthstone to two different locations, then that at least could have been somewhat interesting. But what they went with… Bad.
I disagree, I find the hearthstone timer being reduced and having a second charge MUCH MORE useful than 10% more rep points.
10% sounds like a lot, but it isn’t.
If you get 300, rn you will get just 30 additional rep.
If you get 30, rn you will get just 3 additional rep.
It’s not that much.
Unless you are constantly in your day-to-day gameplay getting reputation gains, this racial serves no purpose in overall gameplay.
10% is quite a lot, you save 4200 rep per exalted rep, that adds up quite fast over time.
Most of the time the reputation rewards are let-downs anyways? At least in the last few expansions.
Reps being rewarding or not doesn’t matter when you can save potential hours or days doing rep in light of something else.
And the Hearthstone change wouldn’t save time either for people using them regularly?
With that logic I could also say a racial that gives you a 1% chance to loot a resource node twice will save you 15-30 minutes of gathering in a year.
Still time saved, right?
It’s not that easy.
Footnote: The Reputation racial of Humans is a remnant of a time when Reputation Grinds were more present in the overall gameplay experience. These days you need the reputation gains only for the major factions of an expansion. But once you step your foot into the Endgame, you don’t really get any rep gains from Raiding, Mythic+ and such activities.
For the people playing only Open World content, for them it is useful all the time. But for the majority just playing endgame content, it really isn’t.
A hearthstone racial meanwhile benefits everyone equally.
For me personally: I have engineering. So I currently have (on my main):
1 Basic hearthstone.
1 Dalaran (Legion) hearthstone.
1 Garrison hearthstone
2 Dimensional rippers (Area 52 and Everlook)
8 Wormhole Generators to various locations
1 Jaina’s Locket (WotLK Dalaran)
1 Cloak of Coordination (Stormwind)
and 1 Admiral’s Compass (Garrison Shipyard)
This new racial does nothing for me.
Difference is one is completely passive and the new double HS is pretty pointless when you consider everyone already pretty much has it with normal/dalaran HS.
Lets say you start a new character and wanted to get 100 reps for mount, would probably take you 1000 hours of playtime to get it but a human would only take 900 hours.
Im not saying don’t replace the racial, i think it should be replaced as its quite broken. What im saying is atleast replace it with something thats not completely useless.
Look the other way around too. For me, the reputation racial is pretty useless, because I am not doing world quests and such in DF and onwards on my human alts.
And with TWW it becomes account-wide anyways for the Warband characters. There is no need for this reputation racial anymore. Because you share it already with many characters.
Aside of that, leaving it as it is would pressure people into making a human character to “level faster with a faction”, which in turn hurts so many other things too, like PvP and Realm population balance by pushing more people to the Alliance side.
It’s the same issue with the Orc racial during SL when everyone was going Horde for that one. Just for the other side this time.
We should actually be glad that Blizzard learned their lesson in this case and takes prevention measures BEFORE a problematic incident unlike during SL.
Personally I would give Humans instead something like:
Equine Heritage: Mount speed on ground is increased by 10% and Ground Mounts take 50% less falling damage.
It’s related to Humans history in WoW with them being very cavalry driven in the RTS games and gives a benefit that is regularly useful.
I get that. And I understand why they’re changing it.
It’s just what they’re changing it into, is what I have an issue with. I’m fine with them changing the racial in general.
Meh. With skyriding now being a thing, ground mounts are all but worthless.
That idea would see even less use than Blizzard’s current one, honestly.
Yeah, I’m surprised it lasted this long.
Back in TBC reps were just optional side content like Ogrila or Netherwing.
But since Legion they’ve gated so much of the game and there’s been so many of them. Pathfinder was locked by reps for one thing.
So I can see why it had to go. But 2 charges is just so meh.
10% extra gold might have been ok. But a 2nd hs location seems the best option.
We also get Ground Mounts with special abilities, did you not see that in the previews? I think it was mentioned at some point.
They haven’t talked about that. All we had to go on was some datamined stuff way back.
So it might have been scrapped or not planned until much later.
Also: I don’t WANT any of that. I hate that travelling around is being made into ‘a game’.
I have no interest in that. Mounts are for 2 things: Look cool/thematic and to get from point A to point B. And that’s all I want them to be for.
That’s your opinion.
In games like Skyrim and Elder Scrolls Online traveling around makes a lot of the game fun. Sure, you can just fast travel to every location you already found. But if you walk you likely will bump into a random encounter, like a Dragon attacking you, a merchant group, a Thalmor patrol or similar.
I am pretty sure if WoW had such random encounters too, you wouldn’t think that way.
Yes. Hence me saying “I don’t want any of that. I hate. and I have no interest.”
So… The rest of your reply doesn’t change ANYTHING about my opinion.
Opinions matter. Because it makes a game fun or not fun for someone.
That’s why I share mine.
No, I still would. Because WoW just isn’t that kind of game. Encountering stuff on my way to do something annoys me. It costs time and effort that I want to spend on something else (the thing I was traveling to for instance).
Anyway; let’s try and keep the discussion on topic. This is about the new racial being a bad replacement for what we had.
We were still on topic. Remember, you said you dislike my racial suggestion.
I personally see almost no other “interesting” alternative that isn’t in some way or another already in the game on a race.
Like I said earlier: I would be okay with having 2 hearthstone locations instead of one.
Still not great, but more interesting than what they came up with.
