No. her people didn’t rely on the Well of Eternity, because unlike the Shal’dorei, who turned into Withered, or the Quel’/Sin’dorei who turn into Wretched… When the Well of Eternity’s powers was cut off from the rest of the Kaldorei, while they noticed its sudden removal; it did not force them into a withdrawel, nor frenzy, nor did Druidism replaced their “lost” connection to the Well of Eternity because they could not live without it(Otherwise they would’ve hailed Illidan an Hero instead of “the Betrayer”).
The groups who did rely on the Well eventuelly had themselves destroyed, replaced it with the Sunwell/Nightwell or learned to live without it or Immol’thar(Who was only around for their immortality, anyways).
They did suffer withdrawal, theyjust learnt to deal with it like normal people who just get on because they ave to , and not selfishly risk the world knowing full well using hte arcane is risky.
Now we know what causes addiction, and how to cure it, it is clear that being infused with nature from the tree, helped balance them faster.
But it must be noted they were all linked to the Well of eternity, and i think they showed incredible self control and discipline to not use their power - they understood the risk, and they dealt with.
Unlike the others who just wanted the good life to continue, and were smart enough to know how to make it happen undetected, but obviously not dealing with the initial problem, it would later catch up to them.
This is the problem I have with the mainly Horde-posters(and you)… When you think mainly Alliance-posters don’t have Horde chars.(Or vice-versa, really)
I seriously think I am one of the few posters in here who is solely Alliance(5Kaldorei chars).
The fact that you need to turn towards some rather inaccurate ‘whataboutism’ means you are already conceding the point I made.
Remarks regarding how some Well creates dependency, changes a race, and turns it into a ‘derivative’ of its former self…is basically how these Dark Trolls came to be Night elves.
Tyrande is indeed being rather hypocritical when marking herself and her people above these sort of things. They were literally the first ones doing so.
And it’s funny reading her getting all chest pumping regarding that in said joke line.
I talked about the Alliance as shown in game, and the single poster Kalibas here.
Both are arrogant and think themselves better (or at least seem like it) than others.
If i say “everyone with intelligence would have the same oppinion as me” it’s arrogant, egocentric and annoying for people with a different oppinion.
Indeed, if you could hear my voice, tone, see my body language, you’d think differently. But then maybe I don’t help my case by the fact that i post my excitement about other races on the races of those toons. Too, but then night elves have had me the mst riled recently so been posting a lot about that.
It’s just my mnaner, it’s not how i think. sometimes people htink French and Europeans from Italy are rude, or africans, because of their short curt responses, but actually they’re not, i’ts just their cultural manner doesn’t have lots of “please” and “thank you” like we do in Britain… so though they may appear as rude to Brits, they aren’t necessarily, just their manner.
I do often go out of my way to make sure i let people know which parts of what they write I agree with. Perhaps its when i launch into the aspects i either don’t quite or I am delving into further, make it seem like I haven’t taken on board their views or opinions I have.
Sometimes I have so much to say, that if i add words like “could possibly” or “i think i might be” the text would be even longer - I often hope it is implied that I think or it is possible, even if i try to shorten the sentence by removing the words, and resist edits that often end up adding more words just to make sure people realise this is not the only option.
Often when I do, people just point blank say they didn’t reead what I wrote. But you would often find I have gone through each option - just probably writtne an essay for each and most people gave up after 2-3 lines. I am trying.
It’s passion, sometimes when you’re erally passionate about something, you can lose a sense of humour if you’re not too careful.
I’m surprised no one has looked at it like this: Tyrande is doing a clever reverse joke because she doesn’t want anyone else meddling in Wells of power because she firmly believes only the Night elves have both the integerity and skill to utilise them.
And as a high priestess, integrity is just as valuable as skill. But to the blood elves, and some of the old highborne under Azshara who lost this, it was skill exalted above all.
Its not quite the same. If they had changed into another type of troll then yes they would be hypocrites but they changed species entirely. Its like the Naga are not a derivative of elf but their own species.
Thanks for that, I’ll take it into account, Random Internet Stranger.
And note how I wasn’t the one that jumped the gun. I pointed out how I found it funny, and Bam! a bunch of other guys started charging against it.
If we are to use that logic, Blood elves and Night elves are entirely different species too. Regardless of their self instilled name they feel like labelling themselves with.
You can draw plenty more parallels between Night elves and Zandalari, than between Night elves and Blood elves.
Both mental/cultural or physically speaking.
Much like H. Sapiens and H. Neanderthalensis, Blood and Night elves are at this point like different species.
Ps: Really Blizzard? I really have to write “H.” to type the scientific name?..
You will have a hard time convincing a Night elf that their species came from trolls. Blood Elves, High Elves, Nightbourne and Void elves all identify as elves.
Zandalari identify as trolls and retain most of the troll culture.
Remember the jokes the Blood Elves played on the Night Elves in Suramar with those Troll statues…but then, ancient lore states that they were just insulting themselves by extension so:
Whats the point of a story forum if you can’t blow out of proportion the mildest bit of story they throw at us?
Whats left to debate? Sylvanas is evul, Anduin is a saint, and coming up next Water is wet.
Didn’t see this topic as specially “hyperbolic”, at least from my part, i just found said remark funny.
You might have missed how much slack Liadrin had for a cheap one liner she has in Stromgarde.
That doesn’t make it any less true.
As I said, regardless of how aloof Tyrande might feel regarding the evident, the point remains that those same issues she seemingly likes to point regarding others, are as much part of her culture as it is of the ones she “criticises”.
And I find that funny.
