I’d guess it’s very Kaldorei looking?
Besides that, I’ve nothing to add to Velravyn’s points.

Some Nightborne (Both traditional and Felborne) are actually seen wielding Warglaives - Although, its the single one-handed type that we’ve also seen Blood Elves and Night Elves wield.
Or rather, NPC’s at the very least. If you meant for players exclusively, then yeah. Even if I do wish otherwise.
To the topic:
Even if Bows was rare, or otherwise frowned upon during their solitude in Suramar, surely that shouldn’t prevent any one character to be curious about bows, and wanting to try one out.
Logically, it wouldn’t make much sense if characters cannot learn and train a talent, such as marksmanship.
As some said spellbows work well. Especially with arcane shots and stuff I presume the key reason for a Nightborne to adventure into becoming a ranger type is owning beasts like mana sabers.
For some it may even be a case that they have simply been getting into archery or they want a reliable means of hitting from afar when blasting it with the arcane is not an option.
It’s also a good idea to note that in the quest for the fox mount it’s clear that Nightborne do go on hunts for beasts.
Nightborne in the lore started using bows again only very recently. That being said, the book of Shadows Rising depicts Nightborne archers that are lead by Thalyssra fighting against the Sylvanas Loyalists.
Bottom line, you can RP a Spellbow or a Sentinel\ranger just be sure to recognize that you picked it up very recently, since there were no bow users in the bubble for thousands of years.
You can easily say that you were learning the art from Farstriders and such.
So Blizzard can’t even keep the lore consistent for a race introduced two expansions ago?
I’m shocked. Shocked.
This is what makes Nightborne unironically my favourite race in lore. My only glaring issue with them is, as everyone points out, their poor implementation as a playable race with their limited and janky customisation options.
If Blizzard ever expanded on them, I would main a Nightborne to the end of my days without issue.
If you’re reading this Ion, and I know you are, I won’t ask you again. Sort it out.
Tbh, players shouldn’t be blamed for the authors’ ignorance of the race. Authors unironically are less prepared than we are on these topics. Christie Golden confirms that she had two weeks to write Lords of the Clan, how much lore can you check when you have such a strict time schedule? Sure, now things have changed and all that, but I doubt that whoever wrote the last book got to read much shal’dorei’s lore.
But anyway. Rant over: it doesn’t have to be a retcon- Thalyssra and Silgryn found out that archers aren’t so bad, and created a new division in Suramar after the rangers of quelthalas (can’t have a love interest without embracing his hobbies!) joined the Horde. Or after witnessing the sentinels’ very successful fight in the Nighthold against Elisande.
Can’t believe Akamito will be joining the cool highborne kids now Ion is scared.
Might explain why he won’t do it. He needs me to stay Tauren so they don’t fade into obscurity.
Can’t you ask your uncle Akamito…
We’re not on speaking terms at the moment. I don’t want to get into it too much here, but I told him Shadowlands sucks and he blocked me.
As someone who RPed a Nightborne using the Ironfeather bow for months I didn’t get a single whisper or frown OOCly, got a few glances and remarks IC but that’s just great in my books.
You had to do it, I respect that.
Thalyssra: “But we can just burn them to ash with magic-”
Silgryn: “Or, and hear me out here: We can just shoot them with a magic proof weapon and use -less- energy.”
