It certainly needs gnome druids.
Nah, keep a little class fantasy, thereās not much left but there are some things that shouldnāt be like goblin druids.
I think it will be too many racials. Racials can be removed, of course, but then race becomes transmog and you know what happens with transmog - they go in the shop.
Generally, I enjoy the restrictions more than I would enjoy the freedom. They add a ton of flavor. I wanted to make a nightborne woman paladin and I was disappointed that I couldnāt but also it makes sense. So it was fine.
I really dislike games where the race is a purely cosmetic choice. Generally I consider weighing cosmetics an inherently bad choice.
They basically already have become just that. Just look at the new races.
And to be honest⦠id really like that to be the case. Let Race be a transmog and Faction the choice part.
Iād love me an Alliance Troll Druid. Canāt stand the doom and gloom atmosphere of The Horde.

Except the Alliance at its core will never tolerate trolls and trolls have a personal grudge against the Alliance.
90% of other MMOs fail because they fail at one thing - making the world interesting and making sense. This is also why FFXIV succeeds. Even people who donāt care about the lore and the world need the game to make sense at a core level. There is no successful MMO where the world doesnāt matter.
I donāt want WoW to become Fortnite. It is already going down that path, letās not accelerate it.
If a choice doesnāt have gameplay ramifications, it shouldnāt exist.
Yeah, i used to think that way too⦠long ago. But these days im more interested in getting as much of my funsies as possible. Lore has been shredded and adapted so often by now that iām sure its in the realm of possibilities that a lone Troll could get asylum from the rightious Alliance⦠especially one as talented as mine.
Lets agree to disagree.
There are many choices like that⦠the racial skin of my characters should not be among them as far as im concerned.
The choice is in the Class and the Faction⦠not in the skin of the character. It would make the game infinitely more interesting for the casual gamers⦠you know, the ones that fund everything you see by sheer numbers.
I get it, but games that sacrifice the integrity of the world for short-term fun never works. For a game to last 16 years and if we want it to last a whole lot more, it needs to maintain a world weāre all interested in. It benefits from getting us invested in Horde vs Alliance drama. You canāt have that if Orcs can join the Alliance or if Night Elfs can join the Horde. Then the choice between Horde and Alliance becomes akin to a⦠choice between two discord servers. Completely arbitrary and⦠fashion.
In fact, the factions only make sense in their different gameplay. While I donāt think faction-exclusive classes are a good idea, I think faction-exclusive skills, like the racials, are what makes that choice valid. If thereās no difference between the faction, why bother choosing? The entire playerbase will shift to one faction just so they can play together.
There is not one successful MMO that has traded world integrity for short term fun for the players and lasted to tell its story.
And how does racial skins changes the integrity? The Argent Crusade has members of all races and factions.
There is nothing more realistic than the watering down of the original devides through changes of insight or convictions as time progresses. In Lore there already are plenty of examples of characters that donāt stick to their origins to serve a common goal. There is no reason whatsoever that this couldnāt spark characters to join āthe other sideā. It would only make things more interesting.
The choice between Horde or Alliance would still be that, regardless of race. Because its a choice between perception of the World and ways of living. Colour of skin has nothing to do with that⦠just look at the Elves⦠they are all over the place.
Actually, if anything i believe it would make that faction choice more meaningfull. If Race isnāt a boundery anymore what does steer your choice of Faction other than what that Faction stands for.
It is especially weird for Paladins or Druids who actually DO bridge that gap in Lore to not have that choice as a player.
I think all classes apart from Druid / Shaman should be race wide but Personally I dont mind
Tauren rogue here I come!
No to goblin paladins as they donāt respect the ways of the light. It was bad eneogh with troll paladins!
