Outdoor content and levelling is such a massive waste of time

I like it. Maybe I like quests in ESO more, but as for everything else in leveling and world content, WoW is by far my favourite MMORPG.
I don’t know what to say to people who don’t like it, but still want to keep playing… sucks to be you? :pensive:

sucks to be a person doing tourist-mode theme park world quests and never taking on an endgame challenge.

Woah woah, stop right there your majesty, Theme Park World was an awesome game.

Also a challenge! Smh. But you know some people can’t appreciate that we don’t need to be challenged 24/7 in our lives.

It sort of is; because you’re playing an MMORPG. Questing comes with the territory.
You (and others) wanting to turn this game into a lobby-based matchmaking game IS outlandish imo (and also not okay; again, imo).

And that’s a good thing. I’m already annoyed with the difficulty of the elite areas in DF.
I don’t like them; I try to avoid them as much as I can.

Not everyone who plays games does so ‘to be challenged’.

Should it be OPTIONAL to skip questing? Maybe… I wouldn’t. But it wouldn’t affect me if others could, so… Yeah, maybe. But on the other hand I think that would set a dangerous precedent. I don’t want WoW to become even less of an MMORPG than it already is.

Lot of people dont enyoj them becouse they are too easy. Story campains wont ever be fun if there is no sense or urgency and you just faceroll everything what stand in front of you. Oh look at this big bad annnnd he is dead.

Eh, matter of perspective. Not every bit of content needs to be challenging to me, especially not if it is meant to tell a story for both new and old players. So I don’t mind it really.

Reading through some of the comments…I did play through ff14 , eso and guildwars 2 as well. Personally speaking, ff14’s story while it was interesting, it is notorious for being a chore…more than half of the quests are basically: go and speak to this person, then their friend…and family.

You seriously can’t see the disparity in quality of outdoor quests compared to BfA and prior? Where almost every major storyline ended in dungeon or raid. At least I knew what’s going on and who am I fighting. DF dungeons are weak and there is only one and a half where the storyline leads into directly. Compare the character arcs even to hated BfA, to Jaina’s story, Tyrande story, Sourfang story and many smaller ones like Flynn or Taelia. There is none of that in DF. The only one that comes close is Kalecgos’s story. The rest can be forgotten. Writing in DF is super poor, apart from few insignificant quests here or there. The world is big and it’s empty.

Rot and gnoll arc which was a major part of the Azurespan story leads to brackenhide hollow, halls of insfusion has it’s own quest chain and lore ties, same for neltharius, you literally break through a djardin siege before being told to go in and clear the halls out.

Same for Ruby Life pools, you fight off the initial assault outside during the questline first, nokund offensive is the same, you chase the main villain of the zone off into his ownlands. Out of all the DF dungeons, all of them has a storyline tied to them, minus the azure vaults.

Story ≠ story. I gave you BfA example but let me go back to Legion where Blizzard did the best job with world, quests and dungeons building. Even if you played the game with one eye open you instantly knew what’s going on with drogbar, who’s Odin or Xavius. Instead sure we get Djaradin who appear because dragons appear (what magnificent writing). Or gnolls that just are. It’s not like there is an alpha pack with memorable gnolls as members. No. Everything is generic to the core. So the only storyline you remember is the centaur one where the guy you want dead is actually pissing us off and even appears in a cutscene.

Yes, they do it so well that it was memorable.

Honestly, I found nothing appealing about the FF14 story. I actually don’t remember a single line of it.

Honestly, you have to be into the type of story for it to feel good to you. FF14 isn’t doing it any better from my standpoint. If anything they do it pretty similar from my PoV.

tbh legion so far had the best outdoor content for me, from all the expansions. But again legion was a well known threat that’s been in use since warcraft. Including Xavius.

They are including new lore to the verse, djardin is a new addition and they have a reason to be awake. It’s stated in game, they are elemental beings, when isles lost it’s spark of elemental magic they went into slumber.

I could say the same for bfa’s kthir. We never seen them before despite their lore saying that they have been living under the waves…And they appear now, why? Because Azshara ordered it.

DF is trying to write new villains and enemies from ground zero, it is bound to have a slow start when compared to xpacks that used villains that have been developed since the founding years of warcraft. Not saying DF’s writing is superb or anything mind you.

I would have no problem with people being able to make max level characters purely for instances…
of course they would still be moaning because there would be some ‘thing’ that they wanted from the game that they could only get by actually playing it!

Bro - the devs take more and more RPG content and things out of the game… the outdoor content gets easier and easier, many RPG flavor things were removed - now it’s literally all about end game content and collections. Yes, back in the day quests qwere meaningful, now they are not, and frankly, it’s only Talking Talking Talking and Talking - poorly written and incoherent lore I couldn’t care about if I tried… I wish there was an option, a toy to skip stupid RP talk…
I can’t care about lore that makes zero sense anymore. It just doesn’t - I wish they stopped pretending and just did some outlandish with caverns of time or alternate dimensions or whatever - anything will make more sense.

So you want them to take out EVEN MORE?
That… is a weird ‘solution’.

Yes.

Remove all of it! We’ll just be blobs, no classes, we have 1 ability, and it’ll be auto-attack. No stats or anything.

frankly - if someone wants RPG they can play classic - I don’t wanna bandaid-ed MMORPG - at this point I can’t care - they can just take quests out or let us skip… the quests are stale, poorly written and oftentimes unfun.

Also… they try hard to make new types of quests and cataloging or climbing quests are literally the dumbest thing in WOW. We have flying mounts and we cant fly up and grab things - we have to climb… by jumping from a rock to another rock using some hooks and whatnot… it’s just dumb… cartoonishly dumb. Yeah I don’t have to do those and I don’t! I just did a couple for achieves and ignore them but I show you them as an example of how bad quests are these days. It’s awful all around.

…?

There’s barely anything to FFXIV’s ‘open world’ and pretty much everything in the game is gated behind mandatory quests.

No thank you.

It’s fine you think that, but there’s nothing ‘literal’ about it. It’s subjective.

I disagree. I’m not saying they’re the epitomy of questing but there’s much worse and there’s has been much worse in past expansions. Of course that’s just my subjective opinion.

So we’ll just have to agree to disagree.
