Patch 9.3 or the Future of Warcraft Content

The sad thing is, this is so, so, so easy to do.

  1. Decouple Valor upgrade cap from KSM. Just throw that idea away.
  2. Provide 5 Valor from every world quest, and 25 from every calling.
  3. Allow heroic dungeon loot to be upgraded with Valor.
  4. Even solo casual players can now slowly (very slowly) increment their gear in their own preferred way.
  5. It really won’t result in thousands of casuals invading M+ with high gear and no skills. It’s far more efficient to actually do dungeons for gear than to grind WQs for it. But it is something to do for people who simply do not want to do organised dungeon runs.

Korthia is designed to be only for casuals cause if you are raiding hc /mythic and higher m+ there is no need to play korthia according to preach you can do it but he said it will not help you to gain power
it’s there for casuals to gear up alt etc etc

If it works out like that, wonderful!

My main will gear on raids and dungeons; I’ll probably have an alt or two doing Korthia. I’ll have both group and solo content options, and that’s great.

Love to see Blizzard telling us directly that that is the point of Korthia though :joy_cat:

(And I still don’t see why they didn’t just use Valor without the KSM requirement. It was meant to be casual currency but now it’s “get boosted first” currency for the players it was meant to help  )

Doesn’t Korthia unlock the max level conduit upgrades however? Unless these are also elsewhere, like Ve’nari it’s still a unique way to gain “some” power via sockets and conduit ranks even if you can ignore it.

It’s like a version of the 9.0 maw, except doing “stuff” before the reputation thresholds actually gives you stuff, whereas in 9.0 you get nothing at all outside of what ve’nari gives you and most of the stuff of worth is backloaded, and a lot of it concerns only the maw and torg.

To put it into plain terms, it’s like if blizzard made mobs in the maw drop random boa gear, and ve’nari sells tokens to “rank them up” at her reputation thresholds. That’s basically the difference in terms of “aimed at casuals”. So it will encourage people to go there, sure, because stuff of value might actually drop (and be useful) for a char whom doesn’t live in higher content. It won’t however massively change the experience overall, it’ll just be like the maw, except now there’s carrots on the end of the sticks and the questing format is a bit different (less focus on objectives in zones, more focus on the random assaults).

I don’t mind either way, but I don’t see Korthia as a complete reinvention of the maw experience, it’s possibly very similar, with the exception blizzard are now offering you sweets to do it. I don’t mind, as I do maw content anyway and try to keep my rep up and do at least a few objectives/daily quests there every day when i’ve exhausted myself on everything else.

Question is will the new raid and overall patch stuff make them stay, or do we see the same we saw when SL launched? alot of players returning and signing for raids, so many that we had to bench ppl, and then just a few weeks in more and more just disappeared. We need more then just raid and the covenant campaighn to keep us interested. And the casual stuff like world quests are atrocious this expansion. I just cba at all. I’m happy i can just “raidlog”, but i wish the game was made so that i actually wanted to log on outside fo scheduled things (want to, not forced to cause i HAVE to grind something to be viable).

I don’t know if you remember later patches of BFA
but they do something similar with this expansion
people are mad because there is no free gear for casual players
so blizzard will add some stuff to do
during 8.3 you could have so many ALTs because of fast progresion etc
and they will do this again in shadowlands to keep casual playerbase
korthia and redesigned maw is the first step to that direction in my opinion

I have nothing against two patches per exp, but then there should be two very high quality patches. I’m not sure if Blizz can still deliver over two quality patches per exp, and if we look at this exp, even those two are questionable.

It will sate the playerbase’s hunger for Shadowlands’ content.

I don’t see it as a model going forward, nobody can claim that the current state of content delivery (or lack thereof) is ideal. We are in a difficult global situation so we are not out with flaming torches and pitchforks (although there is plenty of grumbling on the forums).

I hope (with little optimism) that lessons will be learnt on providing content more like MOP or Legion and less like Cata, WoD or Shadowlands.
Fire (or retrain) the Systems developers and hire (or train) games’ content developers.

That should have been the case right from the off.

Hmm - would say 5 valour from the elite WQ (the ones that drop 250 anima), but yeah having it drop from the callings is good

I am hoping brawlers guild comes with that and some hertige armours .

My hope is that SL won’t going for 3 years, but i have some feelings that can be possible.

Please do not say that :frowning: lets hope it does not :hugs:

I mean, if they do stick to a 3 patch cycle and the duration of patches is similar to 9.0, then we’re definitely in for a long expansion… :slightly_frowning_face:

I’d rather have the next expansion when it’s good and ready (with plenty of content) than have it late just because every patch of Shadowlands they’re faffing around trying to fix and balance all of these systems that no one asked for…

We get 25 VP per normal calling and 50 per epic calling very small amount and you can only get 100 every 3 days atm :frowning:

Could not agree more on that better late and good than rushed and bad .

Only part of the covens i enjoy as you know is the set mogs :frowning:

I have to agree it does look like it . We know 9.2 is confirmed but i doubt we will see it before Feb next year if lucky .

I doubt it, Ion have said in interviews when asked ‘‘Will they pull a WoD on Shadowlands’’ that they won’t. So i imagine they are going to ride it out and actually make 9.3 happen.

Scrapping half an expansion like they did with WoD is something i doubt they can get away with twice.

There is no ongoing trend… not even since legion… the only trend is .5 to 1.0 patches. Legion had 7.3.5 - BFA had 8.3 - SL can very well only have 9.2 / 9.2.5.

Nope, Blizzard has confirmed there will be three major patches.
