When the siege upon Wildhammer Stronghold had been lifted, all efforts went into uprooting the demons in the infernal pit that was called the Deathforge. Days prior, the enemy's legionnaires had marched there in preparation for their siege, and now, the defenders of the stronghold suspected that something within the Deathforge was preventing them from travelling by portal.
Time was not on their side. They needed a means by which to leave the valley. The single road into Terrokar Forest was blocked by the Hand of Kharduum, and the demons' fel cannons contested the sky, making any aerial crossing through the ashen clouds perilous. If they did not find those means to access the world beyond the blackened borders of Shadowmoon Valley, they would rot in the wastes.
The demons were waiting for them, entrenched in the wasteland that surrounded the molten pit, but a courageous charge across the plains beneath a rain of felfire broke open the Hand's defences around the edge of the crater, and one of the three towers was secured in the name of the Alliance.
A few days later, the last push into the scorching, sulphurous gloom of the Deathforge was made, and it would be the knights of the Order and their cohort of convicts - many of whom were now seeking penance and tutelage under those holy crusaders - that spearheaded the advance into the dark. Therein, they overwhelmed the fel lord, Tzaraman, and discovered the observer, Xhaggidok, who drank upon the currents of magic that fed the mages at Wildhammer Stronghold.
Emboldened by their resilience in the face of the enemy's commander, knights and convicts alike scored a deep and devastating blow to the demons that night
Yet as they marched home to the battered walls of the dwarven keep, the roar of fel cannons on the western ridgeline reminded them that the battle was far from won. How many demons had escaped the Deathforge in the days since the battle began there... and how many more awaited them on the jagged and fel-scorched slopes that barred the way to Terrokar Forest?
The Order is coming up on the end of the first chapter of its epic crusade in Outland, yet the path ahead will be both long and dangerous for them. With travel to and from Stormwind re-established, perhaps you will become the next to join them on their conquest of the Hand of Kharduum?
