Performance of desktops

Oh no, don’t get one from Argos… There are better spec machines out there from other online stores that do delivery as well.

Let’s see.

Ryzen 5 3600 with 1660 graphics and 240gb ssd with 1tb hdd for £799 at overclockers uk store.

Just add a monitor unless you have one.

(unable to link due to not posting enough to get forum rep. bleh)

Ebuyer has a Cyberpower Gaming Ryzen 5 16GB RAM 2TB HDD 240GB SSD RTX 2060 Desktop PC

  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6GHz
  • 16GB DDR4, 2TB HDD, 240GB SSD
  • NVidia GeForce RTX 2060
  • WIFI + Windows 10 Home
  • 3 Year Warranty

That’s £899.99

Just takes a bit of looking about. But some of the machines have AMD graphic cards than Nvidia.

Thanks, glad I didn’t go impulse buying last night!

I’ve found these Cyberpower ones that are on next day delivery (v tempting):

£739

  • AMD Ryzen 3 3200G Processor
  • 16GB DDR4 3000mhz Memory
  • AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB Video Card
  • MSI A320M-A PRO M-ATX Mainboard
  • WD 240GB SSD

£900

  • Intel® Core™ Processor i5-9400F
  • 16GB DDR4 3000mhz Memory
  • MSI GeForce® GTX 1660 6GB Video Card
  • Cyberpower B360M Xtreme AC M-ATX Motherboard
  • WD 240GB SSD

Should be able to change parts in these later on if I wanted but think either of these would be good enough to run WoW on good settings and not be ripped off?

That is just utter garbage.
2 generations old motherboard and small form factor too.
Forget about upgrading to a Ryzen 4000 series with that.
I doubt it will run a high-core 3900x or so too.
Because the 3200G is not really good for gaming, it is not ZEN2 architecture like the Ryzen 3600. It is Zen+ like a 2600.
Also it has just 4 cores! That is a nono in 2020 and will even impact FPS in WoW.

The 9400F is ok for a budget gaming PC, but since it is Intel you will have to buy a new motherboard for the 10th gen CPUs which are coming in a few months.

So if you want to have a good experience now and for the next few years while also being able to upgrade to a newer gen CPU, there is no way around the Ryzen 3600 with a 400 or 500 series mainboard.

It will save you alot of headaches in the future.

Chances of me actually bothering to upgrade a few years down the line are quite slim but suppose it would be good to have the option.

So you’re saying the 2nd option is decent for a lower end gaming PC?

I’ve not heard great things about Cyberpower in terms of breakdown support, though, which is another thing about not buying from a major retailer.

Well except it is totally overpriced and you would get really good hardware for the same amount if you bought the parts.
Also im very much against pre-built PCs from companies i don’t even know.
Usually they skimp out on vital parts like the PSU, motherboard and also the cooling.
And yes it is pretty much on the lower end of PC-gaming.

Here’s the other components below. Again, doubt I’d bother changing any parts so not too worried about the motherboard:

PSU: InWin A45 450W 80+ Certified Gaming Power Supply
Motherboard: Cyberpower B360M Xtreme AC: M-ATX w/ 4 RAM Slots, AC Wi-Fi, USB 3.1, SATA3, 2x M.2
Cooling: INTEL Standard CPU Cooler
CS_FAN: 4x 120mm Cyberpower Addressable Dual Light Loop RGB 1350RPM Fans with Remote Control

Well at least it’s got RGB! That’s totally important :stuck_out_tongue:

Can’t find any review of that PSU, but i can tell you there is noch such thing as a “gaming PSU”. Just marketing BS.

Intel boxed cooler is not good either, too loud.

All i can tell you is that i would not recommend that Pre-built-PC, especially not since it is way overpriced.
But in the end it is your money, your choice.

Yeah think the PSU isn’t great.

Is that Cyberpower one even better than the cheapest option I listed at the start of this thread? Looks like it has the same CPU and graphics…

@Hoisho - this the one you recommended a few posts up…? If so, it gets my vote, too.

Is that ebuyer site legit?

Yes… been using them as a main source of PC bits for years.

So you think that’s better than the Cyberpower?

That one looks fine, even though i would prefer a 3600 instead of the 2700 Ryzen.
But its got Vengeance RAM and a Corsair PSU.
RTX 2060 is also good.

Too bad it is not available right now. What is the price anyways?

Ah that’s annoying, just moved from Friday to Monday for availability. It’s £940.

Ended up going for this one:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X - 8-Core 3.70GHz, 4.35GHz Turbo - 16MB L3 Cache Processor, Pro OC Compatible (No On-board Graphics)

  • M2SSD: 500GB (1x500GB) WD Blue SN550 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD - 2400MB/s Read & 1750MB/s Write (Single Drive)

  • MEMORY: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4/3000mhz Dual Channel Memory (Corsair Vengeance LPX w/Heat Spreader)

  • MOTHERBOARD: MSI B450-A Pro MAX: ATX w/ RGB, USB 3.1, SATA3, 1x M.2

  • VIDEO: ASUS GeForce® RTX 2060 6GB - DX12®, VR Ready, HDMI, DP - 4 Monitor Support (Single Card)

  • POWERSUPPLY: InWin A55 550W 80+ Certified Gaming Power Supply

Probably going to change out the power supply but everything else I think looks good enough.

Yeah that one I looked at but didn’t take too much time in looking really. Best I could do at the time.

However, the 2700x is still good enough for WoW, not sure if that motherboard will get an upgrade for 4000 series though, the more expensive B450 boards may, cheaper ones are out I’m afraid.

Any 8 core cpu will be fine with WoW at the moment and any other games. Still think FX8350 is still okay just for BFA… No idea on Shadowlands though, could get pushed out of supported cpu’s.

I have a 16 core Opteron, top of the line silicon and it still can’t even handle simper things like SC2

Just FYI, computer arrived yesterday.

Currently running WoW on ultra with over 100fps in BfA. Very happy with the upgrade!
