va’s voices and performances change over the years. for better or worse. no va from wrath sounds the same now. (and i guess at this rate he needed a way to differentiate brann from muradin, bolvar, the headless horseman etc…)
Ah yes.
“Next time, let’s use some harder-hitting moves.”
“Next time, let’s come up with a strategy.”
“Those webs’ll summon nerubians, don’t stand in 'em.”
Strangles the mf’er after the umpteenth Underpin ?? wipe.
Ah so it still -is- the same one then?
Edit: I looked it up and holy cow, we may aswell call Carlos Larkin “Mister Dwarf” now, he voiced all of the Bronzebeard brothers aswell as Thaelin Darkanvil and even the dwarf rifleman all the way back in WC3.
“Let’s keep a strategy in mind for next time” I will kill your entire bloodline
Yes its still the same Brann, just using a different pitch/register
playing wrath classic was a trip hearing the likes of jaina and sylvanas when laura bailey and patty mattson first started as them vs now. i hate how you can eventually start to hear the marvelisation of the vocal direction
Dagran Thaurissan I did nothing wrong.
Mhm, I just found out.
As for Laura Bailey and Patty Mattson, I would have to listen to them again from earlier and later. When would you say said ‘marvelisation’ began?
And speaking of Patty… much as I loathed Sylvanas as a character during the Shadowlands, but I will miss hearing her voice. Even if she voiced more things in WoW.
I would think around Legion at the latest, warlords at the earliest. You can distinctly hear the way nearly every NPC speaks since then. A dramatic build up before a slight pause and then an equally dramatic finish. “Now mortals…follow ME…into the abyss.” “Find a way to stop the jailer! And save…Azeroth.” i can go on
i really wish she would because the other mmos are at least letting her flex her range beyond what sylvanas allowed. even a gacha game is letting her. shes a talented woman, they should have made better use of it.
While nowhere near that level of horrible, it did remind me of another thing that showcases how nasty people can get in competitions.
There is a yugi-oh card that makes it so you can offer your opponent a handshake. If they accept it, you both gained life points. However the card also states that if you have another card called “Unity” the opponent MUST accept the handshake.
So in tournaments people started using that combo and doing things like shoving their hand down their pants or covering it in…gross stuff (Like actual ) before playing to bait their opponents into refusing the handshake and abandoning the match.
Eventually they rules were changes, so now the card no longer requires a physical handshake, but simply a mental agreement on one.
Burdened by guilt, as it were
It’s definitely Warlords. It came with our promotion to ‘Commander’ and the Khadgar quest where he’s our slightly rude but in a funny way friend.
They’d been building up to it since at least late wrath though, though we get a bit of a demotion in MoP.
Filthy Gamers.
It’s like a modern day greek drama.
Explain?
add in sharp short quips and you got marvelisation. which completely coincided with the popularity of the mcu.
True, the dramatic pause is definetly noticable from that point on now that you mention it. And the slow speech.
Oh I see she was also the Argent Confessor Paletress! I knew of Hyrja and Deios, but not that one. Huh…
But yes she’s definetly capable of more, would love to hear her again.
It’s, IMO anyway, worse than his old VA/VA direction.
His on-click lines, and older scenario/quest stuff, didn’t make me grit my teeth like his Delve stuff does.
I can absolutely believe/atest to seeing people in the wild doing the whole “They didn’t STRUGGLE and SUFFER so they don’t DESERVE anything!” schtick. Nevermind the pull-up-the-ladder-behind-them types. See also: so many politicians.
It’s tiring. I genuinely don’t understand the ‘I’ve got mine’ people and, frankly, I don’t want to. Repulsive attitude.
How much of the annoyance is that he is constantly belittling you at annoying times as opposed to shouting exposition about a quest thing or an NPC bark and how much is the actual performance?
I mean, sure. But I do prefer the pitch/tone of the older voicing. It feels like he aged backwards - which, I guess, isn’t unique to him in WoW at least. Whacky wobbly waving inflated arm flailing voice acting inconsistency…
Though, he’s not the worst example ever.
Isn’t that right, Legion era Malfurion?!
I bought a Switch 2 in stock in a nearby town. Travelled 10mins on the train to get it. Uber’d to Argos. Uber’d back to the train station. All trains cancelled. Ended up on an hour’s bus journey.
Worth it? Totally.
We need to stop blaming Marvel for everything.
These voice acting related complaints especially, predate it (the movies that is). It’s just how a lot of acting goes.
