Pet peeves: The return (Part 2)

it’s literally what i just said, general forum goons got angry we used to dominate the old Popular Topics section because AD forums were the most active sub forum in the entirety of EU

they tried to launch a crusade to “take back the forums”, copying many of the social threads we had at the time* but they never took off so eventually they resorted to coming here to try and troll us because roleplayers  but they ended up getting owned majorly. The one thing we hate more than each other were off reamers and oocels. We baited them really easily into saying Gamer words, then reported them.

*yes even the would you date the character above [forum fun]…

In fairness, they could be new? Back when I started, I struggled with healing Qarn with Cure and Cure II alone before I realized how much easier Regen made everything. But not using any kind of healing is inexcusable.

So I’m doing the 4.0 finale.

Finished the dungeon, then queued for the trial and… forgot to clear my selection before queuing. So I queued for both as a healer, didn’t immediately see that I got the dungeon rather than the trial, and clicked Accept. Left immediately, and now I’m stuck with the 30 minutes penalty timer.

Why isn’t the selection automatically cleared aaarghhh

How to offend two countries in one stroke.

Get well soon.

Hope you and yours will get past it and those afflicted will get better without any lasting problems.

I’m in the same boat with illness.
Haven’t been able to go outside since Thursday.
Though I can taste, the coughing and my breathing are hell.

seems like they’re still stuck in like 2016 when those threads were the rave here with some trying their hardest to be a forum pillar of general chat in the wow forums lmao

I did exactly the same thing but with the ShB ones, I feel your pain

I finished it. I’m really happy with the story, and I have to say that after 3.0 set a high bar, 4.0 surpassed even that, for me at least. I know it’s an unpopular opinion.

And while I had seen the final scene early in the story (in fact, it was what made me look forward to playing it through in its entirety), seeing the scene in-game with my character in it was very, very satisfying.

Looking forward to post-SB and especially ShB.

Fellow Stormblood friend!

If you enjoyed Stormblood I think you’ll 100% enjoy the patch content, which I’m also going to say is some of the best patch content the game has to offer.

This is the current situation in my brain.

Oh, I have no doubt. I love it when the game goes into politics and worldbuilding. That’s the meat of the story for me, and a goldmine of RP ideas.

Also just for my own gratification, I’ve recorded the scene I was looking forward to, just so I can endlessly rewatch how it looked in my playthrough. Massive Stormblood 4.0 spoilers, naturally.

In that case, you’ll really enjoy the post ShB-stuff I’m currently doing.

Without spoiling, there’s a ton of both world and nation-building that happens

Sending good vibes to you and your family

FF14 peeve: I think I’ve mentioned it before but Doom (and other debuffs) sometimes being esuna-able and sometimes not with no clear indicators besides “just know”

There’s a glowing blue line below the icon if it can be esuna’d.

But then you’ve got your other types, which can vary between:

  • The healer must top you off before the Doom timer runs out, or you will die.
  • You must perform this mechanic correct before the Doom timer runs out, or you will die.
  • It can’t be removed in any shape or form, when the Doom timer runs out, you will die.

And you don’t know which Doom is which because they all look the same and have the same tooltip text, unless you’re familiar with the fight. I can understand the frustration with this mechanic, especially as a healer.

These ones say as much in the tooltip, at least.

It’s been a long time since I’ve played a game just for fun.

Like, I always play for fun of course, but there’s always some goal that I am pursuing or other when I go and do something.

But for once, I spent an afternoon doing EW trials and max-level content, even though I won’t get any XP and I am tomestone capped/gear locked for the week.

Just because this is so good. My class, the instances…

That’s somewhere WoW never managed to go, at least. For all its obsession with giving players carrots to do X and Y, it never produced content that I actually went and did without any.

I don’t expect this to become a habit or anything, but it was quite the realisation when I thought ‘Wow, I won’t get anything more from doing this, but I want to anyway because it’s -that- good.’

Also for whoever was interested, there’s talks of resumming sales of FFXIV from next week.
Note it’s just talks, but it’s something at least.
