be very afraid, eldenringers.

I’m not afraid, I expect it.

Had one in every Dark Souls and Bloodborne had one too.

As long as it doesn’t lag like Blighttown, I’ll be happy.

So this isn’t a pet peeve so much as a lore question.

We know the Void whispers to those attuned to it, or otherwise vulnerable to its influence. Granted this all but invariably leads such individuals down a path of madness and servitude, but do we know why this isn’t the case with the Holy Light?

I’d imagine (thus this is purely headcanon) that the many possibilities, voices and views the void will present drives people mad.
Where as the Light is more mono focused, so less likely to make you go mental… just a bit/very zealous.

Only the Light doesn’t directly whisper to anyone at all, unless I’m mistaken? The closest thing we have are the naaru, who clearly aren’t unified in their methods of recruitment - though possibly in purpose.

Well, no. Not invariably. There’s the Void Elves and varied warlocks and priests, to begin with. I’ve also always treated the whispers as coming from things that dwell in the Void, rather than the Void itself. That could be headcanon, though.

Alleria herself said they’ll turn to madness in the end. Or at least she will. Its part of the deal, eventually you go mad.

Literally? Perhaps not.

Overwhelmingly? Evidently so.

Between statements from Prophet Velen, Alleria, and Lothraxxion, to say nothing of the army of mindless Void / Old God drones we’ve killed by now, it seems to be the case far, far more often than not. To say nothing of the Void Elves being more or less accepting of the fact that, in time, they too might lose control or unmake themselves to avoid such a fate.

tl;dr Don’t make an Shadow Priest OC with a retirement plan.

Terms are used interchangeably in-canon. Quite often however, voices from within the Void are attributed the Void itself. Unless we’re talking residential Old Gods or Old God spawn on Azeroth, of course.

Two exist. Only one can remain. The winner shall have it all. The loser’s technological and biological distinction shall be added to the winner’s own, for the loser shall be assimilated into the greater Kaity-collective. Resistance is futile.

Welp. So Metzen voices his brave, unorthodox, and totally sincere opinion on Shadowlands…

Bleugh, in ten :unamused:

This is just disgusting.

Short version: Riot Games sent a DMCA takedown notice against an independent comic artist just because her comic had the word ā€œArcaneā€ in its title.

Can we please repel DMCA? Or at least hold corporations accountable for fraudulent DMCA claims?

Ideally reform copyright law so it isn’t skewered in favor of megacorps with armies of lawyers, and doesn’t de facto hold the accused guilty until proven innocent, but fat chance of that happening.

While we’re at it, can we please stop using the term ā€œintellectual propertyā€ that’s an intentionally misleading conflation of three different branches of law and [three-page rant expunged]

Whoops! Whoopsie!

It was set up in the first place to favor big corporations. As long as they can benefit from it, especially the Mouse, nothing is gonna change,

Depends on your definition of madness. The Lightbound were converted from peaceful coexistence with the mag’har into doing a mass genocide. Enough Light influence forcibly given seems to change your entire outlook on life (Lothraxion, what would have happened to Illidan). It definitely seems to speak and direct certain people (Anduin’s magic bones), and even when it isn’t the Light exactly (Abbendis) their worshippers clearly believe it is, indicating it’s not out of the question for believers.

Anduin specifically refers to following the Light’s will a number of times, asking it to show him the right path because he’s a child playing at King who can’t actually make decisions on his own.

What a corporate friendly statement.

In reality the man just publicly announced that he is fine with the end of his legacy.

I have 3 bigholes in my leg that won’t stop bleeding.

Not deep obviously, just a lot of surface area.

It itches so much.

I’m not that up to date with my Void Elf lore, but if you’re right and them going mad (also curious what mad is, exactly, and whether it’s a spectrum) is inevitable, then inviting them to live as citizens of Stormwind really made even less sense than I had previously imagined. I honestly thought the whole point of them joining the Alliance was based on Anduin’s belief that they’re capable of overcoming their darkness, instead of succumbing to it - which was the main reason they were exiled from Quel’thalas, the fact that they pose a great danger. Is that right, by the way? I’d only completed the Void Elf intro once, so I can’t accurately remember all the details.
