Their heritage quest is the number of unique story quests across the dragonflight expansion. They donât use mogs. Not really.
Finished the Dawntrail MSQ, not sure why there was so much bile towards it, or what people were expecting.
Coming down from Endwalker its pretty impossible to raise the specte higher than that, so of course the adventure was going to be more low-key. For once I enjoyed my character not being the be-all-end-all focus of everything going on. I enjoyed the FF9 references, both direct and oblique.
Iâm really not quite sure why people want to hate on it, itâs a worthy introduction to the second big arc of story. The problems it has are the same ones the game has had since well forever.
Poor quest design, archaic system design and occasionally pacing goes out the window.
The Alexandria Arc of the MSQ at one point feels like youâre on a whirlwind tour and the next in the final zone youâre literally in a tourist attraction. Itâs not hard to tell Creative Team 3 canât divide its attention between a mainline game (FF16) and a full on expansion (FF14) and both Endwalker and Dawntrail have clear indicators of this.

Gtz on finishing it. As ive said before theres an overlap on players who played 9 and those who didnt in terms of the haters and enjoyers. fave ff so its gonna be refferences i enjoy.

Common criticism of Dawntrail:
- It has a primary protagonist in the form of Wuk Lamat. Some people dislike her because of her bubbly genki girl attitude, some people dislike her because of how much screen-time she gets, some people dislike her because the previous two expansions revolved around the Warrior of Light as a protagonist, and some people dislike her because sheâs voiced by someone who is transgender.
- The pacing is all over the place. I have heard masses of complaints about the first half of the story and how they were unable to engage with any of the Turali cultures and how Dawntrail was simply unexciting up to level 96.
- A lot of the story beats were a little too similar to previous expansions, to the point where some people felt as though the game was lacking originality. I have heard some people complain that Square Enix is trying to phone it in because of this.
- I canât recall any characters which had a dramatic positive impact with the player base. The last two, maybe even three expansions have had characters that a huge amount of players really enjoyed. Off the top of my head, I canât recall any such character for Dawntrail.
I think those are the primary reasons for the mixed reception. Wuk Lamat definitely seems to be the most common sticking point though, for many different reasons.

I literally, LITERALLY just want to be able to use the darkfallen skin as a visage for my dracthyr hunter/rogue (I still havenât decided what would be the better class for him in the long run)

Also I love how the outward phobes who played male orcs seem to have shifted to male kul tirans now. Same crap, different day.

Iâve wanted to play a high elf paladin for so long that my desire to play one is nearly old enough to buy alcohol
probably since TBC, but definitely at least Wrath with the high elf/red dragon captain
note: i would also need the void form changed to some kind of arcane/light look, turning purple the second combat starts was such a pain when I tried playing a high elf
