You’d also know it if you watched Pokémon’s anime episode 4, during which Ash cheats and utilises Pewter Gym’s sprinker system to make Brock’s Onyx weak to electric attacks.

It did mean that I took a look at my sheet, remembered I picked the ‘everything is a omen if you interpret it hard enough’ trait and decided that clearly this creature was blessed by Gruumsh if it could reflect my lightning

(Particularly because I completely beefed the concentration check and instantly dropped Call Lightning when it backfired)

I watched it, and though I can’t make out a few words, this really is correct Sindarin that matches the subtitles, and well-researched, using correct Sindarin names for Middle-earth geography.

Someone on TVNZ put a lot of effort into this and I’m so happy.

The Kid™’s interest in WoW seems to be growing and I don’t know what to do. I wouldn’t recommend WoW to new players now over FF and GW2, but WoW does turn out to have the advantage of having a more vanilla fantasy setting, where you can play an elf and fly a dragon. If I tried to explain FF or GW2 to a seven-year-old, I suspect I’d just make her confused.

The good news is that she doesn’t get addicted. She starts the game, runs or flies around for a while, then logs off to do something else.
