Someone clearly used Raúl Esparza for the face of that Rook and I can’t get past thinking about Chilton somehow ending up in yet another bad situation.
as cool as the whole trailer is i fear dread wolf solas jumping for a dragons throat is gonna live rent free in my head for a while
They promised me a dark, gritty narrative showcase and then dropped goofy lyrium ogres and a skeleton with goggles on me
the worst thing for me is that the heads are too big and everyone looks far, far too smooth
Story seems to at least to actually lean darker?
But no persistent gore setting shown off so far doesn’t help either ._.
I really hope there’s a way to disable gore.
I’d kiss both those monsters.
I am, but disk space still!
this is just you and blythan
Its funny because I do indeed sometimes wear glasses.
I refer to my previous statement with this.
Only with consent of course.
they never let me in the eldritch meeting because they don’t look down to make sure I got in the door
Do as Leo does and yell your discontent, then be a wedge that won’t move without some force applied.
Summoned at the start of Stormveil for co-op.
Cleared the entire castle, ground up, all three mini-bosses, three invaders (NONE of whom were hackers or using DLC gear/not level 60 gear) AND still scraped through enough HP to beat the main boss.
I even parried one of the invaders (He failed the Vigor Check)
I think that’s it, the peak, I dunno if it can get better than that
I clicked on a video
Youtube casually unmutes the preview on all the videos
autoplays a bunch of them my mouse ghosted over
until it switches to the video I clicked on
I did a little dying
I think the biggest flaw of FFXIV’s worldbuilding is that the setting lacks a compelling thematic build-around. It’s a kitchen sink.
WoW’s is “comic book colorful D&D-esque fantasy with steampunk”, which is not the most original build-around in the world, but it’s a build-around.
FFXIV has cat people, bunny people, cutesy doll people, and totally-not-elves-we-swear in a land with vaguely Enlightenment to Industrial aesthetics against a very high tech empire, with continent shapes vaguely based on the real world. Why? Lol, lmao, that’s why.
I think a big part of this is because the entire franchise itself has never had a fully distinct & specific setting, with it sometimes being sci-fi, sometimes fantasy, sometimes a mixture of both but almost never in the same actual world with few exceptions.
It would be like if all of Blizzard’s titles had all been published under the “Warcraft” tag.
To be honest, most FF worlds aren’t super coherent, though it does vary from game to game.
FF10? Generally pretty solid.
FF8? Not so much.
Yeah just imagine…

But it’s great still.
It lives in my soul.
