…
alpha male culture is extremely weird yes
It’s horrendous.
Some won’t even wipe.
I recoil in horror
My personal favorites are the type of guys who will pay like 10k for less than a week of a bunch of dudes riding around on electrical scooters to yell at them while they tell them to do physically exhausting things and pretending that they’re tough, usually with some flavour of pretending to look like what they think cool veterans look like (none of the electric scooter yelling men ever did any kind of service)
The irony is genuine ‘hard men’ types are often very well groomed. Even football hooligans took some pride in their apperance.
These people are just mentally ill.
As much as I dislike toxic masculinity spaces, I’m very wary of declaring people to be mentally ill, even my supposed ideological enemies.
That’s up to psychiatrists to decide, not us. (Also modern psychiatry is more nuanced than just slapping a “mentally ill” label on people.)
Had a friend whose boyfriend at the time would leave skid marks on their bedsheets whenever he stayed over/came to visit. That information haunts me to this very day and now it can haunt all of you too.
Guys… please clean yourselves. I beg you.
Sometimes thoughts can be just inside thoughts
I mean maybe, but I’m honestly not at all wary of calling somebody who refuses to wipe because they think touching a part of their own body makes them gay (which is of course a negative to them) as ill.
It at least implies they can be helped, rather then writing them off entirely.
The truth is most/more likely that they’ve been socialised by each other (and other toxic masculine elements in their lives) and then just started taking it to further extremes. The internet circle jerk, for example, is very good at escalating sentiments to the point of going so far overboard the ship’s no longer visible.
The thing that is very sad about it(among many things honestly) is that basic self-care and cleaning can do SO MUCH to improve one’s mental health.
Just being a bit refreshed and clean can really help with alot of many other issues.
Funnily enough, Youtube literally just threw a video with two ‘oldschool’ ex-crime bosses, one US and one UK, my way. Them discussing growing up, how they wound up with the lives they led, etc.
The US guy was definitely more casual looking, but still smart casual, well kept hair, beard etc. The UK guy was wearing a flawlessly sharp suit, and would probably still be quite capable of teaching the wannabe ‘hard men’ types a few manners.
There’s no benefit to looking like a horrible slob
Vastly superior.
Soba deez nuts
Lmao gottem
One of the dangers of echo chambers is that they isolate you from the rest of the world, because you start viewing all information that doesn’t agree with the echo chamber’s views as corrupt/suspect/planted by the enemies.
Another danger is evaporative cooling. If professing more and more radical views is how one gets status in an echo chamber community, the moderates will eventually be driven away, shifting the average of views towards the radicals and encouraging them to spout even more insanely radical version of their beliefs to further gain status.
That doesn’t even work.
I used to think you were cool.
i find that difficult to believe
