PLAYER HOUSING in MIDNIGHT

I suddenly pictured being able to form neighbourhoods and towns with players, and then on top of that your suggestion. Glorious wpvp, general mayhem, in the middle of the night phone calls to ‘“Come protect our town! It’s under attack ahhh!”

I don’t think people would like that for housing… it’d be great for community building tho! Lol

I just hope it will have customization for all the races… I said this in threads past about this. But my concern is that we will get a generic Human house for alliance. And a orc barrack for the horde. With Human and Orc type decorations.

It needs at least to me to have racial decor we can outfit our houses with that fit the theme of the races we play. Beyond just generic humans and orcs.

This is why I thought player housing was impossible in the past. Because of all the different racial assets and design blizzard would have to make.

Noooo. I don’t want that at all.

Something like SWTOR would be fine. Pre-made homes; unlockable additional spaces. Instanced. Hooks in certain places that allow you to place stuff there. Simple.

I really don’t want to see the outdoor world be polluted by player’s ugly creations. This needs to be instanced.

In swtor you could rent apartment small and large in a world of your choice. If we translate that over to wow terms I hope we get the same.

Like a house or apartment in a capital city of your choice. And with decor and designs that fit your race of choice as well. Would be cool

Basically, yes.

Now; I don’t expect us to get ‘all the styles’ right away. This is an evergreen system and they need to be able to add more to it over time. New locations, new styles.

I think having human and orc style building(s) is a given, to start out with. And then maybe 1 or 2 additional style homes, depending on where Blizzard want to give us our new home(s) to start out (considering Midnight, a home in Silvermoon City makes sense probably?).

But players should not expect every single race to be represented right away. Nor should they expect many locations right away.

i would prefer a toggle. normally im a lot inspired by others work

I think it will be instanced. Imagine going to a zone like Blasted Lands, Tanaan or Un’Goro to do some rep grind for an older mog or mount and you can’t see anything for horrendous looking player houses stacked near enough on top of each other.

Having said that, I’d prefer to be able to create my own in any zone and have it be my own instance. I want one near Blackrock or Hyjal.

Being instanced, would mean an option for others to visit your place.
I could see various options:

  • Closed to all but yourself
  • Open to friends
  • Open to guild (and friends?)
  • Open to all

So visiting other people’s houses and getting inspiration should of course be a possibility - just not forced.

On another note:

On a very basic level I want WoW’s housing system to be a decorating and collecting feature.

I do NOT want it to be a building/construction feature.

I get the feeling there may be race customization housing and I believe they have been following the wish lists carefully. I just hope PH is not a land grab type thing. that all my real wish is.

Personally im indifferent to player housing, but im glad that people who want it are finally getting it. That said, this is going to be a disaster. Its only been a few hours since announcements, and the hype and expectations are already through the roof. We all know, Blizzard will fail to deliver on those expectations, as they always do. Adjust your expectations folks.

I think that’s wise advice. I’m expecting another Horde and Alliance format, with slightly more customisation options than garrisons. They could blow my mind of course, and I’ll be happy for housing lovers if they genuinely surprise us, but I’m cautious with expectations.

I hope they take all the player feedback they have been given in the past and that they’re getting right now on board and think up system that’ll satisfy the majority well enough.

Why would blizz repeat the worst expac? Sounds like a terrible idea

Well theoretically they can adjust expectations themselves in a gentle way by releasing more information about what’s to come.

They could, but they wont, hype sells.

Hype sells. But disappointment backfires so much worse :stuck_out_tongue:

We’ll see what they end up doing in the end. I dont imagine its going to be as much customization as ff14 has got. But I hope it gets there eventually.

I dont play FF14 so cant speak to that, but i hope player housing lives up to expectations, all im saying is history shows Blizz has a tendency to disappoint, and players have a tendency to get too hyped up, a sure rescipe for disaster. It happened countless times, yet neither Blizzard or the players seem to learn from it.

That’s not fair to say.
Yes, they’ve disappointed, but they’ve also delivered loads and loads of times.
Hell, WoW still being here after 20 years is proof that they can deliver.

Housing could be cool feature for 2014 game. Buy not fot 2024. Especially with no content coming till next dlc

Why not? Player housing is part of the content coming next dlc. We will have other stuff coming in the meantime

I rather will have a wait&see approach. Want to know more details about this.
Will this be individual instances… aka garrisons 2.0, then its meh for me.
Will it be FFXIV style houses with bidding and stuff then yeah…may the guy with the most gold caps win.

Really want to see how they will actually implant this…
