It’s not working.
What you can try is to use the command (or make a macro) after you change your device output in windows. With this command you will not need to restart the game.
/run AudioOptionsFrame_AudioRestart()

Thanks, this is not ideal but is much better than any of Blizz’s support suggestions… At least now I can get it going with 1 click instead of like 20. 
Still there, It is hard to believe this is intended behaviour.
I find it very annoying. Looks more like a bug.
It’s intended as WoW doesn’t change sound automatically, its designed for manual only, I agree it would be nice to see it made automatic. I just leave it on default and the sound comes out of the default device.
