How exactly am I being an elitist? Do you know how often I use the AH? What I use it for? Stop speculating. Oh wait, this whole thread is you speculating.
The market doesn’t change to fit your dreams, it changes to fit its users. You don’t get what’s “fair” on the Auction House, you get what you put it up for. Or alternatively, don’t get. Pricegouging is part of the game (sadly, I guess. But people get ganked all the time. How about we undo PvP and WM to protect them???) , how about you try selling through trade chat then? Can’t undercut you if you sell via advertising. Or would you rather just have all the ease of X Y Z without any effort -and- have the Auction House cater to your particular needs?
Doesn’t bother me either way, I barely use the AH because my alts have different professions. Stop trying to control every aspect of the game lol, sheesh.
And Blizzard isnt respossible for your mindless actions on the AH. Even in rl stupid people what do no double check their economic actions get scamed. Smart people will always feed on stupidity.
That’s a way of screwing with these TSM botters, buying their absolute bullcrap low prices and then participating in the auction house later when the prices have become more stable.
Just think about it: If you buy their dumb 1 gold ore then they can’t scam others because less people will fall for the trap, and you also get very cheap stuff that you can at a later date make a profit off of.
Honestly, what’s a big L from Blizzard is to not have moderated the use of auction house addons by now, it was pretty obvious that these have been a big problem through this entire day.
4000 people scanning the auction house and doing very fast automated buying/selling, surely the servers handled it soooo well and it was soooo enjoyable to experiment.
This whole day has been irrefutable proof of why auction house addons are unhealthy and become forcibly mandatory to even participate in the selling of 20 potions at a decent price.
Nobody but market manipulators and/or farm bots with giant amounts of resources value their time/profit at literal 1-3 gold per material sold, it’s literally faster, easier and less stressful for common players to farm raw gold in current world content.
I have hopes the market will get less strangled in the coming week, but if this continues, Blizzard should realize that they had ostracised many players from participating on an aspect of the game in favor of market oligarchs and even potentially botters.
Your whole point is crying about earning less because the price of mats is lower. Who’s benefitting from that? Don’t hide behind pricegouging as a shield to make yourself some grandstanding philanthropist lol. (Also lol, apparently saving gold by farming your own mats makes you an elitist. You heard it here! Buy from this guy or you’re an elitist!)
You’re forced to use the market???
Dude at this point just stop using the Auction House because I’m afraid you won’t be able to sell mats at a premium anymore :'(( oh no
people were going to bait
prices were going to tank
blizzard were going to screw up the implementation
gold duping was going to happen
it was going to be impossible to buy high volume mats
It also has very little to do with addons if the default auction house doesn’t work properly and can’t cope with the increase traffic from 92 realms
So in the real world there are two pizza stores. You look at their menus, OP, and they each sell a large pizza with the same toppings. One sells it for 10 Euro and the other one sells it for 15 Euro. Do you think the store selling the 15 Euro pizza goes around telling that “next door is a scammer.” Of course not, they’re each entitled to sell their pizzas at the price they see fit. Interestingly, each store has a queue of 30+ people at the door at 11pm after the pubs kick out so they’re both selling decently…
Just because the person decides to compete in the price they’re listing something at they’re NOT a scammer. Undercutting is economic behaviour that’s both valid and appropriate.
The AH will find the middle ground that works for everyone. Dragonflight will make crafting a thing so the market will find a way to be as competitive as it can be and maybe there are people out there who don’t see charging less for something as bad. Maybe it’s the people who charge at 3-5 times more than what is decent who are the problem…
Oh, and I don’t really use the AH unless it’s for the odd item here or there so this has not effect on me either way.
But usually in a market you won’t get a sell-order of (for example) TSLA for $0.01 listed because it would instantly be cought by an existing buy-order at around 900 USD. For manipulating the value significantly you’d have to kill lots of buy-orders.
However in WoW we don’t have buy-orders. Only sell-orders. So the corrective function that the buy-order usually serves is not available and the apparent price is only visible as the price of the lowest sell-order.
No derivatives necessary for the long/short-game.
The long position here is “keeping the commodities for better prices”.
The short position is “triggering the commoditiy-owners to sell under value”.
A market-player trying to trigger panic-sales of stock is the textbook-example of a long-squeeze. Granted in WoW there is no real defense against it due to missing buy-orders.
So for example: In the real world, if you see a jacket you want cheaper in one shop than all the others, you would avoid it and choose to pay more because it’s a scam?
That makes no sense
Actually the undercut scammers are pricing things at about 5 - 10% value
In a real world analogy it would be similar to an inexperienced seller of something, lets say a used car… if you go to a car lot and they tell you its worth 2.500, you sell it and they then sell it for 25.000 because thats what its actually still worth, but you didnt know better in that situation, thats not a scam?
And people also need to realize that not everyone that is playing this game is over the age of 18 and has some sort of experience with markets, pricing, etc. …
I dont get why people are against implementing changes that might not directly benefit them, but benefit those that are less experienced
Holy moly how inept at relating to others can someone be?
I have still been making profits from my mats (sure its less), but im not just advocating for myself. And my main concern is the amount of undercut-scammers not just the pricedrop
You seem to fail to realize that not everyone has a bunch of ALTs to farm their own mats, to then use them in other profession, etc., so YES, by you not being able to realize any of this you are an elitist, since you seem to think that everyone plays the game like you
And that also means that people are in a way forced to use the AH, since swapping professions to farm mats to then swap to a crafting profession isnt a viable option on one character
