It doesn’t, it’s 3am, and I’m not a native speaker. The device does 1->N, not N->1. It does so on a hardware level tho, which the policy update does not cover. The intention is clearly that it should, but it’s not how it is worded.
People will beg for multiboxers return in couple of months when everything becomes expensive,so you have to go to farm instead of simply buying in AH dirt cheap.
I’m not saying multi boxers will vanish, it’s the automation of input to multiple accounts at once which they are cracking down on.
You can still VM and alt-tab between processes, you can still have multiple accounts on different PCs set to follow.
As regard the last point I already covered that. A background process won’t normally know if a key is pressed unless some extra software set is done. Automation is automation no matter how you try to rationale it. You having VMs set to grab inputs when they shouldn’t is software based just as the ixboser.
You best get used to alt tabbing and learning to press keys manually again if you don’t want to go through a lot of hassle. Anyway, you want to think you can avoid it by telling support “I don’t use isbox.” By all means do, because your automation will land you at the mercy of customer support eventually. Best of luck with that, later.
Wrong. You can give VMs direct access to devices, and they will get all input from there, even if they’re in the background. From WoW’s point of view, it’s simply running in a VM. There’s no extra software running apart from that.
Yeah, but that’s not what the policy says. The policy clearly, and explicitly says software based input brodcasting, which isn’t the case I outlined.
They don’t grab inputs. They have direct access to different hardware devices. As far as the OS knows, those could be 8 different keyboards, it can’t tell whether it’s one being mirrored, or 8 different ones synced.
I have a single account, so whatever. All I’m saying is that those who do want to multibox, can still get around the current wording. If Blizzard really wants to stop these people from doing their harmful activities, the current wording is not enough.
Can you explain this then?
In electronics, a multiplexer (or mux; spelled sometimes as multiplexor), also known as a data selector, is a device that selects between several analog or digital input signals and forwards it to a single output line.
In fact, now that I’m thinking about it in different context like video editing it has the exact definition as stated above and probably originated there, it takes a container that contains video, audio and subtitles and merge them together to a single output so the general term sounds like the opposite of what you’re saying but okay.
Yes, I used the wrong word. Cba going back to edit it.
Long needed change. Start reporting multiboxers now!
Fair enough.
I’ve always been self sufficient. I realise not everyone wants to do that but Multiboxers were a big hinderance in that process. I went from being able to make my own items to struggling to find nodes that didn’t insta deplete.
Those that like to buy up the cheap herbs will obviously feel the impact. Some have already expressed their dislike because they don’t want to gather themselves.
I am not multiboxer ,but i was dependent on them during BFA. Basically what i did was simply buying herbs, yes buying in AH not farming and then transmuting cheap herbs into anchor weed on several characters.
So yeah i will miss multiboxers
A pretty reasonable response from Blizzard. Stop multi-boxing or face the consequences.
There will obviously be players who ignore this warning and continue to automate multiple characters, either through alternative software, macros, or a by finding a hardware solution. I can’t imagine Blizzard will be so reasonable with them once they are caught.
It will be the same as it has always been with cheating, people will always find a way to cheat and find loopholes.
We can only hope that Blizzard will enforce this and really crack down on automation.
Did… did you just listen to your playerbase?O_O
They could have, if they wanted, just publically announced (and in the updated rules), stated something like… that the following gameplay is now bannable while using "insert multiboxing software / feature(s):
Herbing.
Mining.
Skinning.
Farming mobs that instantly respawn (AKA: “stand still farming”).
PvP arena and bg’s.
This way, people that are actually enjoying multiboxing doing the various other game content, could continue to do so. And, you know, also continue to pay those monthly subscriptions.

* Is multiboxing allowed?
- I want to report a player for multiboxing
Multiboxing, or playing multiple World of Warcraft accounts at once, is not a violation of our Terms of Use.
Still not banned .
I opened the champagne
I know what’s coming though. I log my 3 accounts to do random solo stuff and I get 40 whispers “reported!!! multibox not allowed!” links to this thread. While I’m tabbing into the 3 screens typing /follow with no software. Rushed, busy and copy paste gm sees 40 reports against me, Can’t be bothered looking into it properly.
!ban.
Banned for 6 months without doing anything against the rules, Wait 7 days to appeal a wrong ban and have the stress from worrying about it.
Thanks Blizzard for the very detailed post. This thread proves it. Look how many people who think multiboxing is banned when it isn’t, it says it all. As soon as these people see a character on follow they will flood with reports.
So you are allowed to buy and pay subs for up to 8 wow accounts on your battlenet account, and “multibox” them, … without using software which make it possible? Yea this is gonna create a lot of revenue for them… not.
Unless… we are allowed to use hardware based solutions?.. the policy only mentions software…
They as always target wrong people .
Target the BOTTERS not BOXERS totally different ethics and systems but good luck trying to tell people on the forums the difference you just get called a shill and mocked .
I hope you do not get hassle or wrongly banned as i like you .
