Oh my god this sounds so comical and dumb I love it
Naming and shaming are kinda against the forum rules.
For a good while i thought i was being pranked or part of some elaborate, highly coordinated trolling…until they started emoting putting some ‘magic-be-gone collar’ on my character and dragging him away in chains.
In my experience, guard guilds, just as all guilds, are full of good and bad people. However, I have very few bad words to say about CRW. Many dislike them, and I can’t understand why.
You’re entitled to your opinion, but slagging off a guild on the forums is against the code of conduct and very not cool. They are human as well.
Im all one for Guard guilds, like the Hand of Conquest, like the Watchmen (Or City Watch, the low-equipped ones). Just like the type that fit the theme and don’t try to suddenly put up and enforce laws that you’d never expect in the setting that is WoW.
That and as long as a Guard guild isn’t overly equipped to the point that the 7th Legion might blush, or that they do not target Guildless Guard RPers for not being in their/a guild. I’m fine with them.
I thought City Region Watch is cool.
At that point you should of just godmoded/powerplayed your way out with your phenomenal cosmic power and put them in their place.
People don’t like consequences to RP; they’re playing a character set in a certain position in time that never changes, e.g. the perpetual alcoholics in Stormwind that never emote cirrhosis finally claiming them :I
So the idea they may actually face IC punishment is anathema to their way of playing. It’s what makes Guard guilds great because the grim and serious crime RP has a counterbalance.
Why are these sorts of naming and shaming posts necessary? Roleplayers are perfectly capable of working out if they enjoy a guild’s RP without someone crying about it on the forums.
Were they breaking ToS? No? Then get over yourself and find some RP elsewhere that you do enjoy. Were they breaking ToS? Yes? Then report it and look for RP elsewhere.
I have no idea what the guild you have mentioned is like, I have no experience of them myself, but you need to stop throwing stones in glass houses OP.
It’s a common thing on AD to name and shame.
Hence it is no wonder that so many people decide to break out of frustration, there are always people that are just here to make you feel miserable if you slip up once.
Yeah that does happen i imagine but on the other hand you have people who slipped up 14 times and neglected all warnings et al and then act like they’re getting shunned/grilled for a single slipup, which is major snake behaviour and deserves no sympathy.
I mean, they have been mean or just rude to my character but that’s cause he tries to be a wise guy and plays music to annoy some of them.
But yeah seems like people can’t take being cuffed up and taken to a cell which of course would be warded cause yano…if not then everyone and their mother will be teleporting in and out like a club on a saturday night. As the cuffs, well we have seen cuffs that prevent magic from being used but ah well.
Let’s also throw in the being kept in a cell, yeah i’m sure they try to get one of their guys to continue to rp with people so they don’t just get left but people need to remember, if the command center becomes under attack or something big has happened course they need everyone they can get. Just abit of self rp won’t kill ye.
But yeah they are pretty swell guys and gals from what interaction I’ve had with them, even on different characters.
Tbh I think this is a necessary thing to do if you want to throw someone in jail, because too much self-rp is… Frankly boring and uninteresting.
noooo why do criminals always refuse to get caught
haha why would i interact with prisoners they can just sit there for a week
the duality of many guard RP guilds
I would like to pick that up and say…
Kudos to the female kaldorei (think it was a DK) who was sitting in the Duskwood barn jail for 1 week without ever being interacted with. The patience of a true god.
After 2 hours of any of my chars sitting in a prison and nobody comes to me despite everyone of the guild being online I would say fudge it and leave.
If you imprison someone, you gotta either RELEASE them after questioning OR keep them entertained for however long you imprison them.
This tbh. Like… If you’re not gonna rp with me while I am in jail. I will escape. That’s it.
Consequences make RP more fun.
Prison isn’t a fun consequence unless you’re planning on taking a break from that character for a while. If a guard wants to issue consequences, they can come up with something far more creative than locking a player out from RPing their chosen character for up to months at a time.
Community service, parole, having to register at the guard’s station daily, fines, even exile can create some compelling narrative. Prison can’t provide a narrative, unless there were some kind of dedicated prison guild of likeminded players. Sometimes realism has to take a backseat to practicality in order to make the RP enjoyable for both parties.
Make a Penal Legion out of them!
