Dodge Bugfix and Algalon Tuning

We recently discovered a bug causing tanks to benefit from roughly twice the intended amount of Dodge from the Dodge Rating statistic. In order to avoid seeing raid groups skew toward maximizing for this, we’re going to fix the bug. This fix will not change your Dodge % displayed on your character sheet, as the bug was invisible to players.

At the same time, early Wednesday during scheduled weekly maintenance, we’re going to deploy a second hotfix that will reduce Algalon’s melee damage by 10% in both 10-player and 25-player difficulties. We feel that the increase in pressure on tanks and healers from the bugfix will be manageable in other encounters, but this one needs a compensatory tweak.

April fooooools!

This will actually make Algalon & the rest of the raid harder than it is now. 10% reduced damage barely compensates. /Golfclap blizz

I personally think that fixing this mid tier is an unnecessary headache for tanks and should be considered to be fixed when the next phase releases. Nerfing Algalon’s damage should have happened weeks ago in my opinion, since he just hits too hard, and can global a full healthed BIS geared tank still in 2 seconds, on 25 man there are options to deal with it, but in 10 there aren’t as many options.

Algalon isn’t the only hard hitting thing either, what about Yogg 0 adds for example, where the current strategy is to just have the tanks tank all the healed adds?

Just seems really unnecessary to do this mid phase, if it was that gamebreaking to the Ulduar phase then it wouldn’t have taken 10 resets to even notice it.

Please delay this until the ToC phase.

Well, its supposed to be working as it did in 2009! So why should they make it easier? Are you really asking for that?

Algalon had 20% less health in 2009, and hit the tank considerably softer than he does now, so doing that kind of comparison is a bit obsolete now.

The boss-fight is in its pre-nerf state, so nah. They have not done any custom tuning to the Ulduar bosses. Even if that were the case, its a good thing since players are more prepared now as the raid has been out for 13 years. Asking for nerfs are cringe af

This is a buffed state, not a “pre nerf” state. There is no such thing as a “pre nerf” state since Algalon never got nerfed throughout original WoTLK. He got intentionally buffed for Classic release, get your facts straight.

Well, many other bosses are in pre-nerf state. But you are right about Algalon. But my point still stands, its a 13 year old raid which people have figured out mechanics for long ago. And gear has been buffed, so it should NOT be nerfed!

Blizzard announced “pre-nerf” numbers but then went and changed a lot of stuff anyway, it’s not pre-nerf, it’s a mix of pre-nerf and custom changes. XT was unkillable due to the custom changes, which is why it got nerfed.

I don’t agree with the whole “it’s a an old raid and people figured out stuff” because even now we find people coming out with new strats and builds.
