Adjusting Tank Brann - 12 March

Over the first few days of Season 2, we’ve noted that Brann’s Tank specialization has been the best choice for completing Delves by a lot. While we’re excited to support a true healing-focused playstyle in Delves for players who prefer that gameplay, Brann’s new Tank specialization has simply proven to be too powerful when players hang back and just focus on healing him.

Our goal is for Brann’s specs to be roughly balanced against each other, and for the difficulty of Delves to offer a satisfying progression whatever a player’s preferred playstyle is.

With this goal in mind, we are making tuning adjustments to Tank Brann with maintenance in each region:

Delves
Brann Bronzebeard

  • Electro-Charged Gadgets damage buff now grants 30% increased damage per stack (was 25%).
  • Electro-Charged Gadgets damage buff will no longer stack with DPS and Tank specialization heal over time or passive off healing effects.
  • Electro-Charged Gadgets damage buff now has a 5 second Heal over Time/Passive healing internal cooldown for Healer specializations. Does not affect beneficial spell casts that are not heal over time or passive.
  • Electro-Charged Gadgets damage buff now stacks up to 12 times (was 20).
  • Tank Brann Boomstick Blitz damage reduced by 35%.
  • Tank Brann Boomstick Blitz deals reduced damage beyond 8 targets.
  • Tank Brann Electro-Charged Pistol damage reduced by 35%
  • Tank Brann Pistol Shot reduced by 15%.
  • Tank Brann receives 60% increased damage.
  • Tank Brann maximum health has been reduced by 20%.
  • Bronzebeard’s Brown Bear melee auto attack damage has been reduced by 80%
  • Bronzebeard’s Brown Bear second stomp damage reduced by 25%
  • Bronzebeard’s Brown Bear third stomp damage reduced by 35%.
  • Bronzebeard’s Brown Bear stomp damage deals reduced damage beyond 8 targets.
  • Pinged Augment Chip now grants 4%/6%/8%/10% maximum health with respects to its rank.
  • Pinged Augment Chip now causes Brann to lose all threat if the bot hits him.
  • Pinged Augment Chip fixate debuff will now have a large icon display.
  • An issue causing Brann to double dip on the benefits of Bronzebeard’s Brown Bear maximum health and dodge chance has been resolved.

As always, our aim is to provide a more-balanced experience that allows for greater diversity in playstyles and choices. We will be closely following players’ Delve experiences in the coming days and will make offsetting balance changes if needed.

We appreciate your feedback!

The only reason tank brann was “good” is because he was alive longer than the other specializations.

I fear that 60% more dmg AND 20% reduced health is potentially swinging the pendulum too far in the other direction, and tbh it already took significantly longer as a heal with tankbrann than it did as a DPS with Healbrann even with the reasonably high dps.

While I think it will probably still be manageable, I´m somewhat skeptical of the total package and will be providing according feedback.

While I do agree that it´s currently too easy to run him as a tank and just heal him, I also fear that the amout of time it will now take to do delves solo as a healer due to the heavily reduced DpS from numerous sources will make running as DpS with Healbrann once again the preferable choice again for people that don´t want to spend 30 minutes+ in each delve…

Brann as a Tank falls flat in T10 and 11.

lol, way to make him useless then… might as well stick with him as DPS, at least he executes stuff then.

he is already weak as a tank this is a not needed change for dps players

Oh no, fun was detected, and instead of stopping exploiters we prioritized no fun

First off fix him facetanking in ground AoE. It’s annoying as heck if you are melee based damage dealer (healer included). :triumph:

Secondly actually make him pick up aggro once he loses it. Thank you!

Whoever makes a decision like this and implements it has some serious vitamin and oxigen deficiency. I never seen a company so out of touch from their community…
Also make undercoin tradable again…

Ever tried ?? with tank Brann as a solo healer? He already dies on the spot because his AI simply doesn’t move out of the AoE.
Random pulling in normal delves and the same AoE issues there aren’t a good show of understanding how to engage the issue either.
60% less health lul

way remove of exp?

Usually I do not post, but this time I feel that I have to share my opinion since I tried Brann tank with my resto shaman since the first day of the patch.

I did a few delves with Brann tank and a few with a friend tank pally, the only difference between the runs was that with Brann alone it was a little faster but that was all, no real danger while playing with a non AI tank just q bit slower.

I can understand that maybe he was a bit too strong, but also he loves to stand in every puddle, fire and cone. The 3 hobgoblins when they charge they leave him at 15/20%, the cart in the mines the same, and there is almost nothing I can do to prevent that. With a 60% increase damage and a 20% less health that means instant death…

If you are not going to revert the changes, please consider to change the approach, increase damage received by 20% but increase his health pool so we can heal him more. You can also add a passive aura that reduces the damage of areas/special abilities that he is going to face tanks always, because if not there is no way to do the delves as healer with Brann

GREAT CHANGES CLAP CLAP

Does that mean resto druid damage will be brought up to the level of discipline and mw so different classes FEEL A LITTLE MORE EQUAL to each other? In 5 man content resto druid is dead last at average damage output by the end of dungeon BY HALF in comparison to disc and mw, and in raid the expected playstyle does not even allow you to use damaging spells, while three other classes are allowed to execute a damage rotation WHILE MAINTAINING their optimal healing output.

This won’t make delves any harder, they’ll just take forever longer to complete. Literally a repeat of the tanking yourself in season 1 with no mechanics to challenge the player other than managing to stay awake while you autoattack the target dummy boss down for 15 minutes (before you outgear it at least).

I did a delve with brann as a tank last night. Well, i say delve, it was one pack in which he died twice.

If youre nerfing that i have no words. Hes useless, so are these changes.

Did some delves with my rsham yesterday, cant say it felt like Brann was OP. Even died to a pack of those Underpin guards (the chargers) in tier 10. I was spamhealing him and he still went splat. Took me quite a while to get through aswell.

Usually i’m not one to use the phrase, “Blizzard is out of touch” but honestly with these nerfs. Yes Blizzard is out of touch, you’ve effectively killed tank brann with these changes, he already had plenty of issues related to his AI where he tanked an unnecessary amount of damage.

Yeah revert all these changes, dont let them make it into live.

do devs even play the game? tank brann is by no means OP, he dies fkn instantly on tier 8 and up

Here was me hoping Tank bran would have a new interrupt - if the plan was for Delves to be a valid play style for all healers then Bran needs a interrupt or Restro druids need an interrupt outside of shifting to cat form and skull bash. I’ve heard a cheerful ‘this is an opportunity to learn weaving’ but that smacks of ‘If I don’t like chicken tree then you shouldn’t play it either’ to me.

Good way of killing of brann… He was already struggling on higher tiers as is, so we are going back to S1 gameplay that was already annoying with the amount of face tank damage you get.

Did you even test these changes in tier 11?

I haven’t done Delves with tank Brann. Healers in my guild have tho and they said he gets killed very easily already as he stands in puddles, aoe’s and those nasty charges.

I don’t fully understand why we can’t readjust his position somehow as he is rather prone to doing whatever he’s telling us not to do, or even better, him somehow registering he’s about to facetank stuff he shouldn’t. Then these kind of nerfs no doubt would make sense but right now it just means healers are back to the situation as it was in S1.
