I mean sure if you pretend the lore of basically warcraft 2 till wow didn’t happen
me personally I like continuation of story
The only way they could solve this problem once and for all is to create a neutral High Elf race which lets you select your faction as well as your preferred sub-race or “racial talent tree” (Void, Blood, etc.).
Introducing a new High Elf race on top of Void and Blood would cause a mass exodus among existing races, and a lot of pissed off people (feeling like their race is undermined).
Just adding new customisation to Void and Blood wouldn’t be enough. Particularly Void Elves would still feel like it isn’t enough. They’d turn blue, they wouldn’t have Silvermoon, the name feels too edgy for some, etc.
Let’s face it, overhauling the Allied Race system is way overdue. There are so many problems arising from it. Dwarves, Elves, Trolls, Humans, etc. are all over the place.
This is a great opportunity for Blizzard to introduce another exciting layer of character customisation for everyone. When you create your character, you select between a few core races (I guess species is the correct word, but Blizzard uses “race”, so…) such as Humans, Trolls, Orcs, Quel’dorei, Kaldorei, Gnomes, etc.
Then once you’ve made that choice, you have an Elder Scrolls-like choice between interesting sub-species of that race. Are you a Kul Tiran human, or from Stormwind? Is your Kaldorei from Hyjal, Bel’ameth, or Suramar?
Lastly, you might have an origin story choice, like in Cyberpunk 2077. Did you abandon Silvermoon to undergo a Void Elf ritual? Did you follow Kael’thas to Outland? Did you dwell in Quel’Danil Lodge among the Wildhammer Dwarves?
I disagree, I don’t mind splitting high and void elves into seperate races but high elves would not be welcome in SMC, nor would void elves. There is no lore that has changed that other then all thalassians who aren’t void are allowed to perform a pilgrimage to Quel’danas, but that’s the extend of it all.
The split was never about faction either, the blood elves and high elves split off before the blood elves joined the horde, if you look up lore most of it had to do with Kael’thas not having been there during the scourge invasion, they refused to answer his call to assist in rebuilding and protecting what remains of quel’thalas and thus were exiled. The factions having a truce has little impact on how high and blood would treat eachother.
A high elf that is SMC loyal is just an incorrectly defined blood elf, the whole high elf thing is that they are exiles from their home because they refused to answer the call of a prince that they believe failed them. Undo that and high elves lose everything that sets them apart from blood elves and at some point I do have to ask.
Do you want to play high elf, or do you want to play blue blood elf?
There is no lore that has changed that other then all thalassians who aren’t void are allowed to perform a pilgrimage to Quel’danas, but that’s the extend of it all.
What do you think Midnight is for?
Also, Blood Elf is literally just a political distinction. “My homeland went up in smoke and I feel bitter about it, so now I’m giving myself an edgier name.”
At any point in time, say for example if Alleria and her followers help liberate the Sunwell and push back the Shadow, could elves be welcomed home and simply change their names back to High Elves.
When will people get into it their heads?
High Elves will not replace nor delete Blood Elves. Blood Elves and Void Elves are here to stay. Nobody will be renamed or deleted.
This is why I am the only true High Elf fan because I’m aware of how to make the race playable. Everybody else is just wishing for Blood Elves to be deleted or faction changed. Get it through your heads - what you want isn’t going to happen.
And then?
You know that the elves don’t exist in a vacuum right?
Bloodelves are part of the horde. Do you think the other horse members would be big fans of a bunch of alliance people in silbermoon?
Especially the forsaken. The only other horde race in the eastern kingdoms right next to the elves and incredible vulnerable to the magic of the sun well and hated for existing by all alliance races.
Don’t you think that could maybe lead to conflict?
I really really really hope classic + gets high elves and then all high elves fans move there behinds there and that whole discussion is over
HE fans will also want them available on wow retail.
What if classic+ had high fidelity remastered graphics
Then Highelves sound better already
But you have them.
You are already one. There is nothing highelves can give you that you don’t already have by playing a blood elve.
Except for the word high on you character.
That’s literally the only difference
Midnight will be available before this potential WoW Classic +…
Elven reunification ![]()
![]()
No
Alliance already has way too many pretty races.
Horde is forced to play fugly characters or cows to be shamans or druids.
if anything, give humans or worgen to horde.
The horde already has a pretty race (blood elf) and a cute race (vulpera).
And you already have the elves you so much desire.
But hey take the desert rats and give us kultirans as an exchange
Forest trolls (Amani) and high elves (Quel’dorei) for the Midnight expansion would be perfect as new Horde/Alliance races.![]()
Oh yay more elves and trolls instead of something new. Oh the joy…
And please tell me what high elves being a stand alone race would give you you don’t already have
And to be honest even if the would make high elves they would probably be for both sides. I don’t think blizz is going back to making faction exclusive races again
High Elves for the Horde and Alliance, like the Dracthyr and Earthen.![]()
This would make sense, as there will be an Elven reunification.![]()
Well if that makes sense is another question.
It’s not like there are legions of high elves hiding somewhere.
But again what would we gain?
It would just be a rebrand of blood elves we already have.
We should demand more new races not just recolours just so we have the labe “high” at our char screen
