Quel’dorei High Elves as an Alliance allied race - 2024 (Part 1)

Green isn’t really a staple colour anymore for the Alliance, so I’d put the green with the Blood Elves.
But, we can’t moan or begrudge that Blood Elves / Horde might be getting more attention…even I as a Highborne Night Elf player, I was a bit sick of Alliance-looking settings. It will be nice to be in the Blood Elf homeland.

I am happy the horde is becoming central again. I quit in Legion and now just came back to TWW end season 2.

Even I can tell there is a lot of Alliance characters, for me that’s nice to see compared to the older expansions where there were a lot of Horde representation. So going back to seeing some Horde races being central is still for a me welcome but usual breath of air

From what I can tell, the alliance are basically playing the same role as the Horde did in DF and TWW. Basically, they are being ordered by the Horde / Blood Elves. It’s fine, because we as Alliance players, can’t start moaning now about it because it’s been done to the Horde during the last two expansions now, at some point.

Some Alliance fans are REALLY unhappy about it, but…maybe it’s because I play Night Elves (Highborne), I just say, well - it’s been done to them for a few years, perhaps it’s time, it’s done to us…?

Well…close enough I quess.

Well there will be a reunion in a patch later in Midnight.

Saw there is Void elf armor further down with their old color theme for those who want to match with Void elves heritage armor and tabard.

No problem.

Hmm maybe we don’t need the staff that the Silver covenant in Dornogal have as a new HD version comes in Midnight.

Also spellbreaker weapon and shield.

I could easily see that being used for Nightborne toons as well as Void Elf toons, since both use Purple, Silver and White…more so the Nightborne as Void Elves typically go for Purple and gold

Maybe these are small things for the Nightborne being involved with Midnight? They control the Horde area of Silvermoon and Thalyssra is (apparently) being used to recruit the Night Elves as she’s in Bel’ameth with Halduron.

Well it is quest Items (thankfully, so it be easy to obtain) so it freely for anyone to transmog however people want their character to look.

Well…I quess you haven’t seen Umbric new look.

Never played Warcraft 3 Reforged. Just the OG one, but those robes are nice!

Oh yes, I so need that.

One of the classes I wish they would have added because:

  • Blood Elf
  • Void Elf
  • Nightborne

Could all be that class, lore wise. Maybe one day…

But I’ll be going for them on the Pala, for if void elves ever become paladins, if Aeonara Dawnshade is any indication. :eyes:

Perhaps quests around Goldenmist Village since that’s where Blood Elves and Nightborne have set up a wine distribution.

We’ve got 5 which are extremely Blood Elven-themed, one High Elven themed and one which is a mix between Nightborne and Void Elf.

I have to say, for Warglaives - it doesn’t shock me, that we have 1 set which looks more Night Elf/Borne because Warglaives have always been typically used by the Night Elf races > Thalassian Elf races.

Well Im not sure if Blizzard is planing on changing the Lore…again as there is this Bird (A Bird the Blood elves revere) in Midnight that is “Infused” with the Light but also corrupted with the Void that is a raid boss. How is Blizzard going to explain that when they said for years that Light and Void can’t mix as they go boom…well how do they explain the bird?? Why did it not go BOOM. Like they been saying that Turalyon ad Alleria can be together anymore because one is infused with the Light and the other with the Void.

But Also Arator personal quest might lead to something in Midnight.

The Void elves have their own Arcane golems in Silvermoon in Midnight…so maybe after the reunion patch they might train some to become Spellbreakers…I mean there will be Spellbreaker shield and sword of High elf color and Void elf color. So maybe in the future but question is…making them a full class might be hard unless they just be like the demon hunter with only two class specs. But maybe as a class spec for warriors or mages. Warriors with some magic ability or Tank mage. As the Spellbreakers were created to fight mages.

Void Elf Spellbreakers are already a thing.

Riftblade Maella her flavor text reads as follow:

I was once a spellbreaker, you know.
There wasn’t a curse or enchantment I couldn’t handle. Until… I became this.

The one spell I couldn’t break. Funny isn’t it?

So they have “former” spellbreakers amongst their ranks, easy matter of reintroducing them.

I was hoping they’d announce the spellbreaker as a new class for midnight

Oh well. Last Titan maybe ?

Maybe towards the end of it, it was my favorite unit in Warcraft III.

Same! I’d keep pumping them out as soon as I could, strategy be damned.

One day we’ll be able to play our high elf/blood elf/void elf spellbreakers. One day

I feel like they could be tanks, dps or even a support roll like evokers have now a days, based on buffing and dispelling and providing mana for the group. Basically a mana battery.

Tank with weapon and shield, dps with dual wielding weapons and potentially a support role with weapon and shield.

3 specs for the class in one go

Okay so…

Instead of the Ethereals, Satyrs, Arakkoa, Sethrak, Nagas…(and so many other DOPE looking races), you guys are still crying for just another NAME PLATE change and bishing about their addicton problems. :joy:

I support adding those races too, but the Quel’dorei have been such a long-standing race since the RTS games that they deserve added as a playable race

And besides, when they get added, I’ll start banging my drum for the other races.

The only race I’m against adding is undead on the alliance, even then, if that ever were to happen, perhaps I wouldn’t be against them being modified to be more alliance friendly

Some classes are archetypes under which multiple roles can be expressed. A rogue can be a pirate, a ninja or an assassin for example whereas a warrior can run the gamut from a Knight to a Berserker to a militarily trained fighter.

Others are a bit more specific but rely on well understood tropes in fantasy such as Shamans and Druids.

There are but two exceptions to these dominant trends. Demon Hunters, based on a Warcraft 3 hero class, and Evokers. Evokers are a class very much rooted in Draconic lore, and the fantasy behind them is to wield the powers of the Dragon aspects, but even that is arguably rooted in older fantasy tropes such as the various coloured Dragons from Dungeons and Dragons. Notably, Evokers were introduced at the very same time as Dracthyr were AND in an expansion about them.

Basically what I am trying to say is that Spellbreakers are far too niche to put on a box over something like Tinkers or Bards and that even if they were minded to do it, they would have done it now in Midnight when it made narrative sense.

Narrative sense was raised recently as one of the reasons behind their choices. If they don’t do something that is intrinsically Elven in this expansion, they ain’t doing it. And that very much applies to Spellbreakers.

As well as other things.

Again with the absolutist headcanon. They were in the RTS games. Then they changed sides.

It’s like insisting Italy was an Allied Power in WW2 because they were on the side of the allies in WW1 even though they are clearly on the other side.

Those races sadly won’t be coming. Did you notice that while Dracthyr have a new skeleton, they deliberately cannot wear armour unless using a visage form and those visage forms are based on existing models?

We got the explanation. A player race needs to use a skeleton on which the model can be built. Player skeletons are vastly more complex than NPC skeletons. It is a permanent commitment of time as every single piece of armor in the game from here till shutdown will have to be tested to see that it fits. Each new race means that process takes longer. It is why they have defaulted to adding new races with existing skeletons (Haronir are the third use of the Night Elf skeleton now).

They may introduce a new skeleton race at some point in the future but anything that would require a new skeleton is pretty much at a disadvantage when it comes to choose.

The race already exists in the game. It just doesn’t have the name you want to see on your nameplate.

I know we won’t get it. Sadly, yeah it’s just a dream. But they really need to start thinking about it, because adding overpainted or slightly altered versions of existing races under new names and customization options doesn’t solve the need for true racial diversity.

The new race coming, the Haranir, looks amazing and I’m genuinely glad to see that. But if they’re raising the bar with them, then the classic races need to be brought up to that same level too.
