It always seemed to me that end game was just trying to mimic the feeling of levelling.
In Vanilla you have progress, you feel stronger every 5~ levels, you can choose zones, you can get boost by some1
In Wrath you need to do 80% of quests in 4-5 zones to level, i already hate every of this zone
Thatās definitely not true, I was level 77 when I left Dragonblight.
Do one zone even have thats many quest for 7 levels?
To get the achievement, which isnāt all of the quests, itās 105 quests completed for Howling Fjord. Itās 150 quests for Borean Tundra and for Dragonblight 130.
Also with Vanilla, particularly 40+ there is no skipping zones.
I see what people are saying regarding the length of time it takes but that wasnāt the point I was making.
The biggest problem is that this content is void of anything meaningful. Mobs just fall over, with minimal gear. It is absolutely tedious levelling with no semblance of engagement outside of:
āPress button, enemy dieā
Itās so boring when there is zero risk.
You are right, I never understood why WOW went this way. Like, there is a long chain quest to kill some boss in that arena, and then you will see a monster as big as a house running on you, and boom, 2 hits and itās gone. Why is there no danger? It is like playing a rpg on very very very easy setting. Who enjoys this? No challenge, no death. And it is even worse in cata. There will be the same feeling even in dungeons (while leveling). Vanilla was best.
Well when I was a kid, FFX was a really challenging experience for me and learning everything took time.
Now if I play FFX, I overkill literally everything and rarely have 1 party member die, nevermind struggle at any time.
And obviously other games, my first video game was Ocarina of Time and I got it when I was 4 years old and didnāt complete it until I was 5. Now I can do it in half a day.
Edit: hold on that was true what I said but im just realising how crazy it is. I didnāt just beat the game, I somehow learned to read from it.
Edit2: Im thinking back and remembering the exact night I played it for the first time and maybe I didnāt just learn to read from it but I always knew how to read somehow without any teaching.
Hope you donāt have high hopes in heroics, they are just as cakewalk.
Is questing content? I think it could be if it is done right. The way it is now, is go kill xyz and maybe or maybe not pick up some items after you kill them. Rinse and repeat, like 80/100 quests are like this all the way to 80.
How is that content? The zones could be explored with half the quests in the game and the quests could do a better job of telling the story.
150 quests in BT, 140 in ice crownā¦thatās just massive overkill. No zone should be more than 70 quests. Its just horrible design.
Its tedious, booring, easy. There are like 10% of players who rly love iy for the lore.
The rest of wannabeās eho defend it did their best no life it in 4 man dungeons because they know how booring it is .
God forbidd u try to point endgame content can be completed with 1 hand:)
Im lev 73 almost and i have never beeen more bored in wow for like 10 years.
I even prefered leveling classic and tbc.
Its worth it tough, for people who never played wotlk back in the day.
My char may forever stay lost in wotlk mid 75, who knows:)
Do you read the quests and follow the story of what is happening while you quest?
If you just grind without reading them, it is repetitive and without meaning.
There there boys, Dragonflight will be out soon. There atleast you can pretend you didnt know what was coming, unlike the discovery of hot water in this thread.
Quests are fine. The baseline principles (Kill, Gather, Explore) are used with greater variation than ever before in WOTLK. The zones offer more mix of settings than ever. The system of āopen hubsā both offer different storylines and options in which to do them. Questlines both offer good lore stories and a couple of items on the way to the next place.
Find a MMO from 2008 that did it better.
In less than a week of average playing, one will be done with leveling and questing (apart from dailys) for the upcoming 2 years. On what planet is this āalotā? Most people will have spent more time lagging in WG than questing a year from now.
The 70-80 journey isnt supposed to be a hardcore challenge. Kinda hard to set the difficulty bar right when its supposed to be available to 10 classes in a mix of gear-sets, not just people who farmed the nerfed Brut-set and now complain that its too easy (really Sherlock?).
Its a tour of the new places, storys and systems used in the expansion.
How is any of this news tho.
Questing is not boring.
I think this is mainly caused by Characters having full 3.3.5 abilities ect. We did not back in OG Wrath.
The Quests themselves are not bad, some are even interesting, surprising, new and fun, but as you said:
We need some sense of danger, some āstanding on our toes to reachā feeling to have fun
Dragonblight is where the real adventure lies people!
The place is a death trap! Freaking massive sheer drops everywhere!
I have died more time falling off cliffs than mobs I think when reading my map or quest log window and not being paying attention to where I going
sadly im not one of those flying gnomes
Too much xp requiered to lvl up 10 lvl.
Ridiculous XP by dungeons quests.
And some idiots droprates or spawnrates.
I supose the general of the replys in here males me think that people when they asses for nerfs in Boss and duns Back then now says it becomes to easy if it was like or wow leveling people complain they Took to much time consuming ā¦.
Real game starts at max lvl
Maybe not play a game you donāt like instead of wanting to ruin it for players that do like it, idiot.
