I hate that fight with a passion.
Plus its the herioc drake i need so i cant do the save trick
I will poke you later atm in bed feeling pretty rottern.
I’m still pondering if is still worth playing the game or not. For the part I will still be in, it would be an easy thing to help you with Spine by providing you a clear up to and including that one, I’m one of the few actually not having issues with that fight. Learned it in 100+ wipes trying to solo it in late MoP.
Rest up!!!
I wouldn’t be so optimistic about it, I think they are waiting the subject to rot and the players to adjust.
“don’t make it too inconvenient to get from most places to most other places”
Dazar’alor harbour
This is their usual M.O. And we all get used to a lesser game, and keep wondering why the game doesn’t feel as good as it used to, and people on the forums tell us we’re burned out. And so it goes.
I still can’t figure out who in there thought this up, and why anyone else thought it was a good idea. I read the Blue post again, carefully, and still their explanations make no sense; they don’t relate to anything that is an improvement.
I propose the word “devsplaining” for explanation that is completely detached from any reality.
Ok totally going to start using this one from now on!
A new term is born!!!
We should form a new guild "devsplainers "!

hold on, did the horde just put their room full of portals at the ENTRANCE of their city? from a strategic standpoint, wtf? CITY’S UNDER SIEGE, LETS RETREA… OH THEY ALREADY TOOK THE ESCAPE ROOM.
Not in my case… I’m more likely to interact with a stranger if there are no one else around. If there are lots of people, I only see a sea of bodies moving around. Nothing separates one from the other.
Also if I’m on my way to a dungeon, I’ve set my eyes on that. And travelling there does not making me want to stop look at people in general, or to try start a convo with anyone.
I chat in /gchat, in /w with friends or not at all. Or maybe I’ll /w someone asking something in /trade, should I happen to see that when on the run. (Most my toons has hidden /trade and /general on a separate tab.)
Hehehhe. Proudly warmode off since the beginning. But my alliance main is on draenor with wm on;)
WM isn’t really realm based, we are just put into shards with other players with WM on or off depending on what we’ve chosen.
They can also just make a bigger world instead of all this artificial gating.
I’ve been doing that for 14 years. It’s not at all interesting at this point.
“Good” to see some things never change, though. Jito spouting the same uneducated nonsense as he did 10 years ago is one of those things.
Ah, great! Now my lower levels can’t use the portals any more. Had no problem with that in Dalaran…
Stop telling me how to play Blizzard.
I was going to write out this big thing, brining up points like "we havn’t had no portal to caverns and IRONFORGE since wrath of the lich king nearly 10 years ago. but i think I was just ranting so let me get to the point
Extended travel time by removing portals does not give the size of your world meaning. unless the meaning your attempting to give is annoyance. Most of the time once we as players have finished a zone our goal is to get from point A to point B with as little hassel as possible.
In newer zones exploration and content is fine. but in older zones we’ve done before all its a drag and basically a waste of our time as players. You may be thinking “breath taking landscapes” but we’re thinking we have trasmogs / pets / mounts / other things to farm or do. We’re not tourists, we’ve seen and know these landscapes and when we’re doing things like rep farming the last thing we care about is the landscape. we don’t see an expansive world full of possibilities just changes made by developers to increase playtime.
We as a community can tell your bleeding players. people are quitting all the time, i’ve seen guilds fall apart over and over this expansion as player count plummets, this expansions nickname “beta for azerite” is telling of how much the community doesn’t like the changes,
Adding additional travel time to the farmers who are actively trying to get to places to get rare drops or get pets from dungeons and raids isn’t going to help the situation, as its gonna exhaust those players even more as the weighty task they have drags on.
Your new central hub is a great idea, but you should keep the old portals. stripping your end game of features only damages the playerbase. Today I wasted 10 minutes going from SW to new dalaran to do the pet battle hub, when before It would been a quick 2 second hop. cloak to SW, portal in the keep. not SW cloak portal in portal room, flight to dalaran.
Why i am here i also wanna say what a dumb place the legion portal is in, dalaran is iconic centralised and has access to the teleport pad for the 7.3 content and all the class halls. but you guys moved the teleport from the centralised location where you can go seek out the content you wish and all the legion starting quests launch to the zone that is most out of the way of the other zones and to make matters worse the place it spits you out doesn’t have a flight path, so for those in future xpacs that go back to unlock flying (like i did with draynor) will get to enjoy the aweful travel times back to dalaran all the time. Aweful choice.
You also moved the portal to the vale of eternal blossoms, you know the center zone of mists, instead dropping us at another far point. so yeah much like the previous part come on guys… big central point… random middle of nowhere point.
Caverns of time portal removal is also kinda dumb as there’s something like 2-3 raids there and a few dungeons with mounts.
my favourite part of your blue post is the following;
We’ve processed a lot of feedback on this, especially feedback about specific locations that feel like they’re going to become disproportionately inconvenient to reach, and we’ve followed that feedback through to the conclusion that you’re seeing on the PTR. We believe that the numerous remaining means of quick access in the game make most locations quite reachable.
which reads very much like “we got feedback from the PTR players that they didn’t like this, but we believe its the right thing so we’re gonna do it anyway” which is not the message you should be sending, you should listen to your playerbase. So this I guess leads me onto a conclusion of sorts.
I didn’t just want to complain this post so here is what I’d do if I was you guys; Firstly, if a zone has a central teleport location, put that point into the teleport network. we really have no reason to start in the middle of nowhere in legion and paderia when there is a nice central point already there.
secondly, if a zone had a teleport hub put it back. Old and new dal had portals to every city, and yes you can just teleport SW, teleport borealis and then teleport to the other cities, but thats just a hassle. 3 loading screens instead of 1. You left the SW portal in these cities and removing all the others makes the area’s designed to hold them look worse by comparison.
Thirdly, the caverns of time portal should be reopened. as should dalaran crater and deadwind pass. the reason for this is ease of access. If your alliance and you want to go upto satholmn or your doing the valentine dailys in silverpine forest as it stands you’d need to fly from the twilight highlands which is a much greater distance than dals crater. for the horde side, if they want to access molten core or the blackwing raids they’d have to travel from bootybay which is a nightmare for them. as for the caverns of time. you have like a bunch of dungeons and raids there. it deserves its own portal quest or no. and if your giving it these portals you should also give it shattrath again, as no point loading screening to SW to just jump again immediately. which leaves wyrmrest the only new dal portal that I can’t see any reason to remain. It is in prime location to do a raid, but a old dalaran portal in its place would be just as handy.
fourthly, Add an ironforge portal to SW. really just have an ironforge portal. How you think magni feels that the draenei get a portal and they don’t come on guys.
and if not possible, at least change exodar to ironforge. the dwarfs have been with the alliance since the start and the city itself is one of the most visited non-capital (I personally always use there AH over SW’s)
Lastly; add capital portal to major cities. like before this patch you could teleport iron forge, dark portal, stormwind, or exodar, dark portal, stormwind. These major cities are all connected by a safe travel method be it boat, or tram and making the high level players wait to hop across cities is a pain.
I’d like to leave you with an example of one thing you’ve made so much more hassle.
I was doing love in the air this year to collect the toys. Firstly I had to go to all 4 leaders and give them a lovely charm bracelet. so first I needed charms, lower Kz Ez, Hearth dal → portal Kz.
Now I had my charms I needed to get to all the major cities. my Dal is on CD so, cloak SW → Hand in braclet 1 and pick up dailys → Portal New Dal → portal exodar → Hand in bracler 2 → portal darnassus → Hand in braclet 3 → portal to dark portal → portal to stormwind → deep run tram → braclet 4 → next onto the daily quest, cloak on CD, saving dal hearth for now → deep run to Sw → portal to dal → portal to dal creator → fly to silverpine → complete quest → hearth new dal → portal SW to hand in.
Now thats just doing the daily tokens for 1 event with the old system in the new system it gets more meaty…
Fly from SW to Kz, get tokens, fly back to Sw, hand in the kings tokens get dailys, portal exodar, hand in 2, walk to the darnasus dock and portal to there walk to the high priestess and curse the fact you got dismounted again and there on a second floor forcing the most walk time possible. (that was bothering me on the portal run as well) then turn back around walk all the way back across the loading screen to the docks and portal back to SW, go from there to the tram (which is longer to get to as you spawn on the portal room rather than the dock now) then fly from ironforge to silverpine crossing the wetlands, and the highlands in the progress before finally getting that quest done… and finally dalaran hearthing again.
Basically; new portal room looks nice, expand it or put the other portals back please.
Cough… the dalaran portal network was in Wrath before it was removed. and that IS 10 years ago… so… why remove then in the first place as they been a core feature for that long.
reaction of forum dwellers about why they removed portals
Blizzard is rewriting the Theory of relativity :
removing of portals = more time to go anywhere = more space.
