Has anyone mentioned that we’re murdering fanatic crusaders in Scarlet Monastery and such? We’re attacking a church in Dragonblight. Everyone is getting murdered in this game. Every religious aspect in this game gets to taste the steel. Murder in this game is inclusive.
There is already great diversity in the game even demonic worship, but in the game these concepts exist you can see them in game and use them in game so it’s not a religion is just a choice.
In real life all relegion is just fiction it doesn’t actually exist it’s just a belief system in the minds of people it’s not real.
So I would say the in game version is more diverse and more real in the context of a game.
Trolls are strongly influenced by Caribbean voodoo / South American Aztec religion. Night Elves are somewhere in between Celtic cult of the mother goddess & green man and some Afro-Asian crossover on nature religion. Draenei, Indian culture and Buddhism / Hinduism much.
Then you have zones like Uldum, clearly focused on ancient Egypt’s pantheon. SL Ardenweald, complete crossover between Celtic and Voodoo belief. Bastion, Greek mythology. Northrend, the Vrykul and literally every Titan content ingame - Norse mythology and sharpest adversary of Christianity when it comes to religious followers in modern times. Centaurs, originally Greek mythical creatures paired with Mongolian cultural attributes ingame. Naga, Hindu half-dieties. Harpyies, Greek again.
I could go on and on and I think it’s a beautiful diverse system and the one thing I always loved about WoW for I’m quite the mythology nerd. It also is philosophically interesting since war is often caused by religious differences. In a world of warcraft, it might as well just be the same. If you take this away from the game, you honestly won’t have much lore left, so congs to OP for opening one of the most stupid, short-sighted, ideo-il-logical topics on the forum…
Can’t wait that to happen and all of this religious diversity hunting down the “jolly gay dragons”
I’d pay for this to watch this insanity go down.
Well, obviously, a caricature thread (this, not yours).
In general I like various (additional) types of cultures represented.
I always thought that the human race in WoW represents medieval Europe, that’s why a lot of woke compliant things don’t make sense when applied. We’re used to many of them by now, but those are distortion nevertheless.
There could completely be room to introduce art styles from further cultures. I say further because Japan, China, Mongolia, Native American and Scandinavian culture is definitely in our face.
There are two reasons I’m approaching from an art perspective.
First, because culture is inevitably distorted and it might be annoying. Christians are educated to be laughing stock by now, however jews and muslims take it more seriously. I just learned about certain South Park episodes being censored.
Second, a faithful muslim is just not the target audience, after all depicting people is already not allowed, and female bodies must be entirely covered and neutered. Also, judging from the news during the recent Football Cup (and many more reading over the years, including academic works), they really dislike deviating from gender and generally limit women. Of course it differs from person to person, country to country. And oppression isn’t even their angle, it’s just the presentation by the left.
And thus, as a creative director I’d be staying away from islam to avoid trouble down the line. Art, buildings, clothing, sure.
Who cares about religion in 2022 lel
Why is it always a human male warrior or human male paladin that wants to wipr us out
It’s not that deep bro…
Nah I’m not doing it.
I’ll let the. Muslims do it.
At least you can fly away when they try to throw you of buildings XD
I have nothing against you
Babylon 5, quality content. 10/10
Do you mean hidden profile? Because if it is that then you can

Why is it such a big deal, that I’d like to see more influences from other cultures in wow, that aren’t enemy npcs or disrespectful caricatures? WoW stole most of their fantasy concepts from real life → it’s their own problem/responsibility. Now they either have to rewrite the disrespectful story elements, and give it different names (voodoo for trolls is a no-go), or they should make sure to neutralize the real life religion references, and build their own fantasy, like Riot did with Runeterra
Start with sentence “Christians in modern word doesn’t kill people who use their symbols even in caricature”
What happening with their most opposite religious brothers we all know.
People are getting fed up with cancell culture not enough inclusivity/exclusivity etc. Get on with it or leave the game - its really that simple! Vote with your wallet not your ideology.
Well, I didn’t say anyone should be cancelled though. I also dislike cancel culture… Just asked to have a respectful story like Riots Runeterra or The witcher 3, since those didn’t steal from real life cultures, and then made them look bad
I second that.
Religion in modern era
- Christianity - 2.38 billion
- Islam - 1.91 billion
- Hinduism - 1.16 billion
- Buddhism - 507 million
- Judaism - 14.6 million
That is a lot of people who care
Yeah, that’s also what I criticize about how blizzard dealth with genders in wow. For religious people removing “male/female” can be a disrespect.
I think they made almost nobody happy with their politics recently, even lgbtq people in forums said, that they felt like blizzard portrayed them as caricatures too. I don’t think with their current direction they’re doing something virtuous. They should start with the basics of respect first, since they dont’ have it down in their game.
