Is it FUN to break and wait 20 times for a soulrock and collect a soul?
No.
Is it fun to get the Jailer eye level 3 after doing it despite having like 10 more quests in the zone?
No.
Is it fun to be forced to wait a whole day to do something you could have done all together in the earlier expansions?
No.
Is timegating everything fun?
No.
Could Blizzard have made the Maw into a Tanaan jungle-kind of zone where you could use mounts but had to look out for danger in that zone like falling meteors, assassins in the shadows and shadowy figures coming at you and strangling you giving you 10 seconds to kill it before it kills you, the more out in the zone you are, the more dangerous it becomes but youll find chests for rep and so on making it fun to explore?
Yup, this weekend we went into the maw (Fae quest led us there) and thought of giving it another go. So get 20 fricking souls (slowly), to end up with level 3 only being able to do one more quest comfortably or without gaming the system (because less powerful alts).
We got reminded how daft this design is with stopping us from spending time on content. Said at the time: letās do the rest tomorrow⦠tomorrow came and the interest wasnāt there. We also canāt play together every day, so this idea of doing it multiple days in the week⦠doesnāt work (nor would I call it fun).
Itās not a fear of missing out that is in place, its eventually not really giving a damn about certain content and that might even turn one away from the game with time.
Now if 9.1 was ready 2/3 months later, one could argue for the maw being ādreadfulā because youād see progression⦠but half a year and more of this eye of the jailer nonsense⦠nope.
I personally think the biggest issue with the Maw aside from the Eye mechanic is that thereās really not much to do there. The achievements only require you to kill all the bosses, rares and events once, and the toys have a solid drop rate (fortunately). Outside of that, whatās the point of going there after oneās maxed out the Veānari reputation? Farming sockets and conduit upgrades? I donāt think most players even remotely care about something like that.
The zone had potential, but as usual that potential was wasted.
One thing about the Maw/Thorghast that I didnt see being answered was - how come we wouldnt be getting anima there (and lots of it)? Isnt it the place where much of it went?
Itās likely because if they did indeed give lucrative amounts of anima people would feel forced to grind the Maw and Torghast in order to get any serious amount of anima.
Just got to deal with it. This game has a lot of major issues, the daily pseudo GTA star system, isnāt the most important one. The entire Maw/stygia/thorgast relationship is wrong to begin with. Itās too big of a problem to be fixed in a .5 type patch.
This will be dealt with in 9.1, and itās going to suck until then. Removing the eye now, or making the final stage less deadly, would barely solve anything as the content itself is terrible. Iām not even sure what people want to actually do in the Maw! Stygia is basically already dead unless youāre a min-maxer and want to push keys over 15 and mythic raiding.
It could be a hotfix, as simple as tweaking the numbers. Not that I expected them ever to do it (because slow and stubborn), but it should be expressed that 9.1 comes too late (even with nothing being done about it).
You were after all going on about people not being aware with its removal in 9.1⦠Iād say quite a few know and voiced that.
And yeah the entire deck of systems of Shadowlands have problems⦠and I highly doubt they are able to fix half of them in 9.1 so weāll see how SL turns out in the end. My guess: a promising start that fell apart or maybe even gets abandoned pre-maturely. Iād love to be wrong on both those guesses.
This is what happens when gold generation goes out of control.
Gold Sellers have become so efficient at generating gold that they dont need to hack accounts and clean the account from all valuables like they did in WotLK.
A lowly TESCO blue collar from UK earns about £10/h.
Ā£10 gets you 200k if you know where to look.
Someone who fails at Torghast would rather go do 2 hours overtime/week and cover his Soul Ash grind for his non-tank main.
Time to boost at 100k/wing to finance my weekly Denthrius heroics.
