Remove gear brackets based on Rating (maybe it will reduce boosting)

Absolutely my story, 33% games in 1.4k-1.58k range were vs obviously overgeared people, and often one overgeared glad boosting lowbie. Hit the absolute wall at 1.58k many times, now back to 1.45k, thinking of changing class to something less gear-depending, maybe would work better. Would have reached 1.6k easily by now if not for amount of boosters.

Boosting in PvP is less than 10% games according to stats. It’s PvE players and newbs who think that they need full honor gear and PvE items. 50 k hp people fighting each other below 1400 cr. Right now we have an ironical situation that people above 1600 are less geared then these below.

“who exactly was unhappy with a non-rating depended gearing system?”

U misunderstand. The main problem is that no1 playing PvP. U forced to suffer for hrs in LFG and play 0 games, and ofc including suffer in undergear. U can go M+ PvE get fun, play even at late night, find grp to almost any key lvl, pretty fast. Then you will get full versa gear 246-252 in like 1-2 month and just smash casual PvP players like cockroach on the flor. And what u get in PvP? Sit in LFG, get smashed cuz u don’t play, but wait in LFG. And even u find - you will be frustrated, faced with mad/insane, brain damaged screaming players. People leave after 1 lost game e.t.c.

Now you are just making it up. I played on my low gear DK alt to 1400 who is something like 215 ilevel and everyone was the same. Maybe bit better but like by 5 ilevl.
Getting to 1.6k is basically babymode. If you struggle to get there even with fully upgraded honor gear I would say wow pvp is just not for you.

I got 1800 on my Ele in one day 2 weeks ago and it was easiest in my life. Then yesterday I helped my BM friend on my R Druid and we met 1 team where 1 player was below 40 k hp. I’m 41 k hp on my Druid but I’m Tauren so approximately I would have 39 k as NE and my BM friend was 35 k since it’s a new char. We were outplaying enemies but 1-2 sec of warrior connecting to him meant cd has to be used. It was Darri on his alt - one of the best rank 1 monks. Maybe it was the weekend but I have different experience mate. Basically it’s season 1 all over again dude.

I have 5 different casters. Ele (main - not this one but horde), Mage, Shadow, Druid and Warlock.

P.S.:

BM hunter is multiclassing multi glad ex-TBC-Wrath tournament player veteran. There is something wrong. Last week it was still normal but from Friday playing 2s is madness.

People who cared about rating, obvously. Why push when all gear is given on the plate through capping conq points? Wod system was thrash and people got bored fast.
Thats another “you think you do” issue.

well to get to wod gearing its simply removing all the upgrades on honor + arena gear and instantly have it on max upgradet state. Then just reduce the pve item lvl a bit more.

But seems like that is to complicated for them.

Yep, just let the casuals gear up 10 toons in bis pvp gear so they won’t even play the game in the end.

You know, devs need something to make their players stay in the game, right? If everything is given to you on the plate, you lose motivation to continue playing >>> unsub till next large content drop >>> they lose money.

bm rdruid with low gear is the easiest way to get rating in 2s. Bm can kite every class and even does insane dmg with low gear. I helped a bm friend with a fresh char too and we are 1800 after 60 games. He never played hunter before.

I dont think gear is that big of an issue right now in terms of fairness because less boosts are happening and rating isnt deflated like last season so 1400 and 1600 should be achievable. But later in the season when everyone is 260 maybe that changes.

Bigger Problem is costs for upgrading and no conquest catchup so people stuck at these low itemlevels for such a long time because the grind is terrible.

Look what are you saying: People who care about rating prefer the current system because there is no reason to push if all gear is given, which means that they care actually about the rating only when they have gear advantage and this implies that they dont really care about being good to have the rating.

M+ - people don’t care about gear and push hight keys since Legion, cuz wowprogress score, raider io score and now M+ rating. People even raging if they need for example do raid for gear to push key. Who cares about gear buy loot runs in PvE, but never ever will tryhard in PvP. PvP community is so tiny, even devs thinking about PvP in the last time right after pet battle guys. Most of players in PvP are PvE players in casual BGs or casual PvP players who have no time to suffer in ranked LFG. Scaling and equallity in gear is a way to go.

Never felt bored in MOP. Tons of alts.
Now I got 2 alts 60 level and they will stay gearless, I won’t grind all this BS

I’d be in favor of removing gear brackets and replacing them with PvP sockets so we don’t need to farm pve nonsense. At each rating bracket you unlock a new socket type (head, neck, etc.)

That’s all I counted into overall gear factor.

Dont forgett that every match against a booster has a weak point, the boosted

if you wanna homogenize remove racials aswell so anyone plays style choice

Something like this would be great, give the better players a slight advantage like maybe a some extra socket slots they can unlock for being the highest rating but why does it need to be such a drastic difference between ratings, it just limits peoples ability to climb of their skill alone.

People always say that yes a good player should be able to get past it and they most certainly can but i think some people think i just want the best gear for myself. I truly believe this will help retain newer PvP players, because if your learning and are going up against a pretty significant gear disadvantage it can be disheartening, i mean jesus i’ve been playing for 13/14 years and its disheartening for me sometimes.

This is also a great point, maybe i could forfeit the idea of removing rating lock gear, if it took maybe a 3rd of the time to actually get your gear up as this could allow it to feel like less of a long grind.
Love these types of comments that argue my point without saying “WoW is just a PvE game stop crying” or “You just want the best gear so you can quit and complain still”.
Geniunely appreciate this comment my dude, and definately something Blizz should think about.
