Remove the wait time for restoring deleted characters or give option to pay for instant recovery

This is the WoW equivalent of a child breaking their toys during a tantrum & then regretting it as soon as they’ve calmed down

What you did is indeed silly, use it as a learning experience.

That system might also be for serving the name hogging prevention. Cleaning up old characters from the undelete queue frees up those names.
Or is there information that undeleting a character might force you to rename, i.e. the char name not being reserved while in the queue?

Some characters I undeleted (when the limit was increased to 60) had to be renamed. So the usual 30 days applies as far as I’m aware for deleted chars.

I think it’s a good system for teaching you some emotional maturity which, based on what you’ve wrote, is definitely required.

There is a comparable case with Star Citizen where every now and then people ask for the unmelt queue for pledge items to be without limitations and/or that there should be a search function and/or filter options because the list can get so long. (Although filters have actually been added.)
But there is beauty in the design: Accomplishing more by doing less. The unmelt queue is not meant as a regular feature, but a failsafe against regret. And the hassle involved in using it for unmelting pledges scales with the degree of ‘abuse’ of the system. Those who use it as intended will see no issue, while abuse of the system as far as it even allows it can still be feasible if one is mature enough to accept the usability hassle.

This works for classic? I’m thinking of deleting a toon, remaking it, then undeleting the original to force a name change.

(Remaking as in creating a lvl1 toon with the name.)

Pls tell me it does without any harm, as asking for a name flag can be risky for me.

I think they fixed that loophole when it’s on the same bnet account.

They sort of have. I made a thread at CS, and one of the local MVPs said it’s not possible, but Wrath has the paid transfer added that I didn’t know about at all, so I can use that instead for 10 bucks.

It doesn’t have an in-game shop menu so I figured these services were still absent…

So if you try to undelete a char with a name that already exists on your account, it now refuses to do it?

Either that or you have to rename the deleted char to restore it. I dont know which one it is. I think it is the first, because people could get a free name change going the “delete, make new char, get name change for free” route.

Dunno, I think it works in retail only a certain time after the character was deleted to prevent such abuses.

Someone at the CS forum said so, so I bought a name change, turns out it was added for Wrath

They plugged the free rename loophole some time ago.

And if you try to undelete a char that has a name that you already use then they tell you to pay for a rename.
