Renown quests is it a grind now?

Maybe they aren’t guaranteed, it’s just my personal experience that i got a renown from pretty much every calling quest up to renown 35 or 36

They definitely aren’t. For every person showered in renown and maxed it easily there are others that continue to receive the middle finger from the Gods of Chance. Like this chap:

How does the renown catchup work?

The system is dodgey and I don’t like it. Over the past few weeks I have religiously done the callings every day, and done approx 9 M+ or so a week by the end, as well as a few bgs here and there (and LFR wings) and world bosses each week…I would turn in my renown weeklies (souls, anima) every tuesday evening to avoid them clipping my cap. I started three weeks ago with 12 renown (after char was inactive) and I had up to chapter 3 of my campaign done. I now have the whole thing done. After all…
