Did the Legion expansion automatically added transmogs of quest rewards aquired in Vanilla tho?
yes at some point it must have been legion or bfa I suddenly had the goggles mog and other ones (cloth from shimmering flats) from vanilla to wotlk questlines that I never picked as reward same as for all AQ scepter items and likely more I didnt notice.

Currently, PTR/beta do not award the appearance for having completed the quest; whether this is an oversight or intentional is anyone’s guess. If you have any pieces left over, those specific pieces are moggable from day one.
However, lookalike sets for both the dungeon set and the questline upgraded version are available in Cata through Darkmoon Island, and Blizz have said that is arriving on May 20th with the opening of the Cataclysm zones. So I think you’re good to go with Cata!
Replica Wildheart Vest - Item - Cataclysm Classic (wowhead.com) etc. - your transmog UI will show you this appearance as acquirable like any other.

It was added the same time Darkmoon Faire Festival was updated (as in, being on its own island), which was in Cataclysm.
You could potentially make a ticket about getting the items back, since they can see if you’ve completed the quests.
Appearance tab was added in Legion.

Remember that the pieces are BoE, so you can use multiple characters for tickets to then send the items.

But a GM should be able to see that someone finished the Quest and thus can easily restore the Item.

GM’s won’t do this per developer policy. The ticket lines will get likely overrun with transmog requests if they do.
Generally way back when transmog was first announced they said they would retroactively grant it for transmog held in your bags and not help with any requests. They still put down a few vendors in the next years after but not that many.
Despite that, players still ticketed and I’m quite sure average ticket times went up to 3 weeks at a certain point for Cataclysm launch.
