I got the armour after about 50 boss kills. I’ve never done this event before, and am still waiting for a mount drop after nearly 150 kills. I agree that making all rewards super-easy devalues the game, so I’m happy to keep farming even if I don’t get the mounts this year.
It is stupid, esp as the Pirates Day saddle could just be bought for Gold!
IMO these saddles that are related to World Events should just be added to the list of toys/pets/etc that can be bought with whatever the Holiday currency is.
It never should of been a random drop.
It dropped for me after 4 attempts on a single character, I don’t think it’s that rare and you’re just super unlucky!
Actually it is super rare, under 1%
0.4% as per Wowhead
The first try of the day is inflated chance and the rest are 0.4% seems believable but I have no idea how wowhead works out those stats. The statistics can’t possibly account for the inflated luck on first attempt of the day.
I have no idea.
Who cares?! It’s a digital item in a game.
Value plays no role in it.
I’ve never understood the need by some to feel something is only worth having if they can lord it over others. There are obviously a minor number of commemorative items that come out during specific events that make nice keepsakes but they are available to all at the time.
Some were upset when they increased the drop rate of the love rocket by boosting the first try of the day. I think it was long overdue. Same for the Pandaria rares. I don’t care if everyone has the ones I already farmed before the changed.
As this is dragon riding related you’d have thought they’d have put it on the vendor.
Completely agree.
Its less about lording it over more it feels more unique or cool if its rarer. Would invincible been as epic if everyone had it?
Yes.
It’s about the aesthetic/appearance of the reward itself. That is what makes it cool.
I will say though that it’s not cool to see everyone use the same mount for instance; but that’s for immersion reasons. Like at this moment everyone is using that small selection of dragonriding mounts and I hate that; everyone looks the same (even with the customizability), which is boring.
But, if people OWN a mount; I couldn’t care less. That doesn’t make it any less cool to me.
Of course, it’s ultimately subjective: I don’t think Invincible is ‘epic’. It’s quite an ugly mount imo.
items should be more rare in the game
this brings value to the item when you finally get it
i dont want to see everyone with Corrupted ashbringer from vanilla for example
The fact that everyone can GET IT, doesn’t mean everyone will USE IT.
There’s a big big difference there.
the fact that everyone can get it, makes it redundant and not worth the time
if you want people to engage in the event the item has to be somewhat rare, an item held by many has no value
Pure and utter nonsense.
It has value if you like its appearance.
And that’s all the value that matters for an item in a game, frankly.
I got this manuscript today - on this very char. Who have never been on the Dragon Isles and should have no clue about manuscripts as a DF expansion concept. On an account which haven’t unlocked dragonriding yet.
we will have to agree to disagree,
effort and time and a bit of luck is the essential part of loot
- to quote the film the Incredibles
Syndrome said “And when everyone is super, no one is ”
Doesn’t everyone have it?
I think everyone should have a prancing pony!
Okay, so I’ve done the fight on multiple characters every day.
Effort and time.
Bit of luck? BIT? A BIT?!!!
Your argument is inane because the effort is the same for everyone. This is not something prestigious. You queue, you kill a guy in a few seconds and that’s it. So basically only the ‘super lucky’ get to have this?!
This is a stupid reward for a stupid mount that will be obsolete next year when this event rolls around again. So it’s stupid that the droprate is so incredibly borked. This is NOT the type of reward that should be rare.
some things are harder to get than others, try again next year or buy it on the BMAH
I certainly won’t. I don’t even care, because I don’t like dragonriding anyway. I can finally use MY mounts again in 10.2 instead of these ugly forced ones.
But it’s the principle of the matter. Blizzard gets away with tonedeaf, braindead decisions too many times. Because again: This is NOT the type of reward that should be rare.
