Now only if we could get Turalyon or Anduin to legislate against Stormwind Harbour.
My two favorite ludicrous emote battles were when in the first one, a DK and a shaman were dueling under the tree in Orgrimmar.
Long story short the DK ended up death gripping the moon ontop of his opponent.
Another one was back when HoC used to still RP as guards in Org, i can’t remember who it was but I think it was either a sandfury troll or a demon who got jumped by like 7 guards (lok’tar ogar!!!) And they pulled out an invincible barrier.
The peons in the same RP scene then emoted digging up the soil from underneath him. To “lift” the barrier up from the ground and carry them out of town.
Someone liked Infinity War a bit too much.
has the pasta/dolmio log been posted yet?
When in doubt, always count on the humble peon to get the job done!
I thought the invincible barrier episode was that orc warlock nostradamus who would read out upcoming patchnotes (sometimes word for word) as his ‘farsight’, forget the name…
Skrauhg/Reshthul.
Reshthul! Good old Reshthul with his amazingly accurate predictions… Man, those were simpler times.
It’s not really a horror story, it’s more of a wholesome little happening, but I remember one time, I was grunting around in Orgrimmar, keeping the peace, all that sort of stuff. Then, this one warlock, I think it was a belf, strolled past with a voidwalker. So of course, I went up and said “STOP! Be rid of this demon, or I will get rid of it for you!”, and not surprisingly she went “No, actually it’s harmless, just leave it be :)”
And then, literally every single orc in the valley turned simultaneously like. “U wot m8? You’re summoning demons in our city?”
It ended with ten orcs standing in a big circle smashing the void walker to bits. Or trying, at least, the void walker refused to take any hits. Eventually the belf left because of the big beefy bullies.
I once witnessed something like this in duskwood where a night elf druid who claimed to be a powerful wizard treated himself like a raid boss, demanding dozens of people fighting him to have even the slightest chance of losing. He’d fight by posting a huge prewritten macro wall of text following up with another if anyone cared enough to read all that to counter emote.
I think we all know his name.
I’ve more stories but I’m not sure that I want to revisit every awful emote fight and awkward attempt at courtship. More out of the bin later, regardless if it pleases.
Isn’t that just every encounter in Duskwood
I presume you’re referring to good ol’ Thammaron with this one? Casue dear lord he left a legacy. What I remember him most for though, was deleting his posts everytime someone slightly critiscized him.
I command thee.
I actively resent being told what to do but I like telling stories, so fine.
An old tale it may be, but a long time ago I played a priest living in the comfort of a great tree’s shade. Many visitors would pass through daily, for this was a time before power struggles drove out most that would call the tree home.
One such visitor had come from across the sea, bringing news from a strange city of winds. Happy to learn from this foreigner, my priest travelled with the stranger for a time, trading tales and building accord.
Deciding to rest our legs and continue the conversation by the lake, I, rather innocently presumed this wasn’t a date until this delightful tourist put their hand where it shouldn’t be without explicit permission, all at the same time as a patrol of local soldiers sauntered by to witness the whole thing. Paralyzed for ten seconds or twenty years, I’m not sure, my priest excused themself and left the scene.
I’ve more tales of distressing similarity but we’re running a theme in this thread, aren’t we?
If a person you don’t know beforehand asks to go somewhere or “go for a walk” or similar, there is a 50% chance it is to try and get some of…that kind of rp.
ERP ruining RP yet again, sorry you had to deal with that.
I’ve become wary of these situations but in my stupid desire to make stories I gambled regardless and lost more often than I gained anything.
Hmm. This sounds familiar.
Oooh boi.
Is this the same person who also role-played a lich in Duskwood? I remember encountering her twice: she was a human spending hours staying idle in a graveyard. I once met her on an undead character and had a small chat. Afterwards she “liked” my character so she whispered to me and started to tell me all about [her headcanon] undead lore… which whatever, right? I didn’t even bother correcting her.
Then she went into power levels, and how often people RP excessively powerful characters and whatnot. Yeah, sure. And I was a good role-player because my character was weak or something? I don’t remember. All rather average until she started to tell me she made her character an unironic raid boss (“these rules I preach apply to others, not me” vibes).
According to her, she devised a “system” to have people engage in combat with her, a system where you needed forty people to have 25% chance of success to even beat her. And quite frankly? I was so surprised that someone would tell me anything like that with a straight face that I forgot to even put her on ignore. I don’t like to do this stuff either, so I figured I’d just not RP with her.
She then relocated in another graveyard the next day, because the previous one had “lollers” there, and started to berate my character because he did not serve her. Never seen her again but genuinely hope not to meet anything so cringe again.
some people have just never heard the phrase ‘no’ enough in their lives.
Play a hero. Meet some villains. Have fun roleplay for a while, back and forth, nice chaps.
Villains leave, because shadowlands was not fun. I bid them adieu.
decide to give being a villain a try. Make a necromancer, figure they’re evil, right?
Decide to have fun doing so, making my necromancer give their undead German Names. Still proud of them, so i’ll share:
There was Werner, the Ghoul.
Rüdiger, the Skeleton (the gigachad)
And they were working on Herbert, an abomination that got never finished.
Since Roleplay out in the zones was dead (tried plaguelands and duskwood, whilst mapscanning different locations all to yield naught) was forced to go into a big city.
Figure out a reason why a necromancer would be out and about the big city, come up with an elaborate little bit of background information, getting kinda snowflakey, but hey, I’m drifting here to begin with, wanting to be a villain…and frankly at this point I liked the character too much to abandon it like I likely should have. I had the actor, but neither stage no audience.
So to stormwind I go.
Decide to make a small flag. Name, base description, “Seemingly Civilian” as class, all fine.
Actually have fun roleplay! Being sussed by a few heroes, some sus too hard, giving off red flags, but all fine, no Horror Story there.
Let us begin.
Meet villain friend. Be villains together. Have fun.
Be introduced to villain circle.
“Yeah, we’re all warlocks here…and you’re a necromancer.”
“So? We’re all villains, and a bit of diversity is cool? I could be your Mafia Doctor, my character should know about performing operations.”
“Alright, cool, you’re in.”
get invited to secret hide out.
Get invited to get all the information about all the people there.
Get bullied.
Get to read the good tomes with the nasty spells (copied over from DnD, but whatever, flavour )
…Wait, roll that back, bullied?
Yep, appearantly it was mutually agreed upon that warlocks would look down on sickly necromancers and bully them.
…I did not take kindly to that. But fair, all IC so far. And my Necromancer can bully back.
All fine, all dandy so far…but red flags.
Hear that the elader of our circle is being hunted by the guards. Neat! Conflict RP. And Necromancers know about Illusion magic, I can help!
Get belittled for my cute attempt to help.
Ask the guy why he’s so confident to not be found out. The guards publically know his face, name, known aliasses, have figured out his backstory, and organize cooperation with mages and paladins to get the guy.
The roleplay interrupts and I get informed ICly that the guy uses like ten alt characters of the same character, all looking the same, all having just slight alterations to their name, all using three TRP profiles. One of “The Big Evil Overlord” one of “Little old man hurting nobody” and one empty one revealing a random name.
Tells me it only counts as the -real- Overlord, when:
It’s the correct toon.
It’s the correct Profile.
Any other case it’s a straw man or illusion, copy, whatever.
…I call him out for Metagaming.
He tells me it’s sadly become necessary, since, if you openly show yourself as Evil, people just godemote you to Death.
…Figure that that sentiment has some merit, so change my TRP Profile.
Now blatantly and publically admits to being a necromancer.
Gives a few hints to backstory, explaining short and precise how it’s possible to be where I am and gives a hint or two as to what I might be doing.
Make an OOC Warning label in my Info Tab reading: “BEWARE! EVIL CHARACTER!”
Go roleplay.
Find even BETTER Roleplay.
Be immersed WAY MORE.
Get whispers of how awesome people think the character is.
Get godemoted to death like…twice a month. Can always just walk it off.
Spend 17 real life days in stormwind prison cell.
Generally regarded as a well roleplayed, subtle villain IC, and good sport ooc.
Feel like I’m doing a good job.
Sudden whisper of the overlord guy:
“So we have to kill you sadly.”
“Why?”
“The way you openly admit what you are endangers everything we do here, and it’s ruining our fun, so we decided to kill you.”
“And what if I don’t agree to being killed?”
Silence.
Three new whisper windows open with the other villains, all basically trying to coax me into accepting to be told that I need be killed.
Some of the heroes whisper me confusedly that apperantly I’m dead?
I call slander.
Decide to roleplay through it.
Get an active stalker.
Can’t even log in anymore without people mapscanning me to follow me around.
The amount of tips and clues suddenly roaming around my character skyrocket.
Ultimately got revealed and publically shamed.
Felt icky and betrayed.
Logged off.
Came to Argent Dawn.
Created Liria here. Hero.
I like to sometimes, during Hallows End, log onto my necromancer still, walk in her edgiest outfit all over Stormwind and parade the public “I’M EVIL!” TRP Flag around.
