Safe Haven Cinematic Discussion

everyone is talking about rogues actually going stealth.

but no one is pointing out that the SOUND of a rogue going stealth is also canon.

I’m curious as why Thrall set home on Outland, nagrand. Or how. Thought the Dark Portal was destroyed. But, this does clear up a few things as the dark portal could return to it’s pre-WoD version I suppose.

It still would’ve been much better than Warcraft movie with its 160$mil budget

Please don’t argue with Sawblaster she once made a WoW cinematic with her minecraft club in highschool

The Draenor (WoD) portal was destroyed. Afterwards it’s safe to assume our Dark Portal resumed the link with Outland’s.

Yeah! Which is great. Changes some things if people ever want to go to Outland again.

Number of problems for me.

Firstly, how did Thrall manage to get a prime spot of land of that size on Outland, a world full of refugees and that is falling apart.

Secondly, would Sylvanas really risk assassinating the former and highly respected warchief? I know she thinks she’s beyond reproach but that seems mad even for her.

Third, what about the Alliance? This is the third cinematic this expansion focused on the Horde. Feels like Anduin’s role was a cameo just to let Saurfang out of the Stockades.

Fourth, I think the cinematic only serves to highlight just how desperate Blizzard are getting. “Lets get that guy back that used to be popular because we’ve written ourselves into a corner, again.”

It is just lazy writing. Characters should react according to their character not to further the plot. Sylvanas is going mad because it serves to further the plot not because it is concurrent with her own story.

Saurfang apparently can sneak around Azeroth and through the Dark portal with relative ease, just cause.

Finally, this looks like the perfect opportunity to have Thrall lead the Mag’har from Outland to Azeroth which would have made for a better introduction than that time travelling nonsense we got for the Mag’har from Draenor.

Obviously. But as much as I would love to see it I do not think it is feasible to make.

It isn’t just a concern of ‘throw more money at it’. Your artist may need weeks to complete a detailed character model regardless of how much he is paid, and hiring a second artist to work on the same model is not necessarily going to make it faster.

What is that supposed to mean?

I mean, friend, last time we’ve seen Saurfang was in the Swamp of Sorrows, which is next to the Blasted Lands, a place that last we saw of, had some of it’s alliance and horde fortresses destroyed to some extent.

With the exception of presumably what remains of Shattrath, Outland is almost abandoned as it’s mostly incapable of sustaining life and only the Garadar Orcs are still settling Nagrand.

Pretty sure it was mentioned in some interview that it takes longer to create CGI cinematic so Sawblaster isn’t wrong. Though I reckon given the time passed it’s not unreasonable they started working on it around/a bit after Blizzcon.

“Hey where should I bring my family of wife and two children to live”
“how about the planet that is literally disintegrating at a molecular level?”
“GENIUS!”

If Saurfang knew there was assassins about, why did he risk Thrall’s family by asking where they were?

Back at GDC 2013, blizzard said it could take a year to create an expansion cinematic.

Thrall is a nostalgia-merchant only able to define himself in the frame of past glories.

better question, why didn’t thrall seem to worry about his family? like is he just assuming that there were only two assassins? what if his children were being killed while he casually finds his axe?

It’s a nice looking dumb as sin cinematic

Thanks Blizzard

He knew about the budget constraints and that his family will remain safe while off-screen.

I’m speaking of a more recent interview. It’s probably less than a year now seeing as we’re in the year 2019 a solid 6 years later. Technology gets better and faster as time goes on.

It’s been six months. That fills your arbitrary criteria on whether Blizzard actually lied to Metzen during the Q&A panel or actually secretly planned it all along and just hoped Metzen would agree to do the voice acting when they were half way done I suppose.
