Sethrak for the Horde

I have nothing against Sethrak joining the Horde but tbh they didn’t strike me as… particularly… interesting during BFA
I think other races like Ogres and Hozen would be more worthy of a spot when it comes to joining the playable cast… we just have more story with them
Or maybe the Unshackled if you wanna stick to BFA races. They have clearly expressed interest in the Horde, to the point where they even visit Orgrimmar afterwards

They look so bad that If you put pile of real sh#t next to it that pile of sh#t aint sh#t anymore.

Indeed. Considering Vulpera were by far and a way the darlings of Battle for Azeroth. Nightborne were the darlings of Legion as well, hmm. who got those?

When I say ‘darlings’ I mean the clear favourites. It just isn’t up for debate that those two races were by far the most loved new additions during said expansion’s lifetime. Alliance got Mechagnomes, yea, because loads of people were asking for them…

It still is comedy to compare the desirability from the community at large between Vulpera and Mechagnomes. I distinctly remember thinking “Are Blizzard genuinely going to be that ridiculous and give Horde THEM, and Alliance THOSE?!”

… and no, I’m not interested in Bob over there saying “But I like Kul’Tirans.” Yes, he does-- but that certainly does not disprove the point of general popularity.

I get the frustration, the thing with the Alliance though is that they’re not likely to open up their gates to many fancy races, don’t you think ? Not saying they wouldn’t accept them but it seems Alliance membership implicitly relies on traditional ties dating back to the Alliance of Lordaeron… So Humans, Elves, Gnomes and Dwarves. I don’t see much room for very unique playable races, except like, idk, Furbolgs ? Or Broken from Outland
Meanwhile for the Horde, uniting all sorts of races out of desperation/for pragmatic purposes is pretty much the whole concept

I mean this picture speaks for itself : ht tps://preview.redd.it/so6kff7x4ty21.png?width=960&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=585c924bc65498c735d144bdd4c3c7837504f2c9

Well, the Nightborne could’ve gone either way, and no I don’t count the feeble storytelling just to force things.

I mean I understand the thinking with that, Nightborne to Horde so they get the Night Elf model, and Void Elf to Alliance so they get the Blood Elf model.

On a side note I suspect Nightborne will get a nice little bump in popularity now that they look more like the original design.

I’d say there are more races that could easily be turned by some story twist to go with either faction. Sethrak and Saberon for instance, and even Lightbound Undead. Vulpera really could have gone either way because they weren’t enemies of Alliance, and a few weeks of contact with Horde isn’t ground for full faction signing up.

I’m not sour about Horde getting those because I play Horde. It’s more a case of Alliance having lots of bad Allied Races, rather than Horde having all the good ones.

There’s also the matter of using existing models, for simple economy (Undead and Worgen were not used). Though it is somewhat odd the only race they decided to make a brand new model was Kul’Tiran, you know, the LEAST played race, with me being the LEAST surprised person to see that is the case. People generally don’t want to play an overweight version of an existing race. Kul’Tirans would skyrocket in popularity if they gave them the original Human body shape as an option, and I think that is beyond obvious. What a waste of resources that was…

I wouldn’t care really who got a possible Lightbound Undead or Saberon. The point is for me they’re both good options so it makes no odds who gets which.

Why not for Saberon, after all we’ve got a bunch of them in Kalimdor now, as they came with the Mag’har teleportation spell. Thinking about it, considering how likely it is that we will meet again with Yrel and stuff, Lightbound Orcs (the traitors the Mag’har were talking about) could be an idea for a new Alliance race

(You’re right about KT Humans, and that’s a shame because they could’ve easily made them quite interesting, by making them the Human/Drust half-breeds they should have been for instance, and giving them an actual Vrykul legacy)

Those are great races too and I hope they become playable at some point, however this is the sethrak thread. And I think sethrak would be pretty cool since they would be the first playable reptile race. We even have sethrak appear in Dazar’alor if you’ve completed the vol’dun storyline.

Sethrak is certainly a fitting race to have - after the faction merge.

Vulpera and Sethrak aren’t in good terms with each other like Orc vs Humans…

Not with the faithless sethrak, however, they are on quite good terms with the devoted sethrak which Vorrik lead. They even work together at the end of the Horde questline in vol’dun and even the most violent vulpera known to date Nisha says she enjoyed fighting alongside Vorrik and hope she gets to do it again.

If race is not sexy, good looking most people will not play it.

So they need to add some BOOBA, pretty faces and such and make snakes looking like some humanoid just with tail.

Or it will be played as much as fat kultiran and pregnant kul tiran.

Ever race is not for everyone, there are several races that’s not traditionally “sexy”. It would not hurt if we got another, especially since we don’t have a reptile based race so far. Also a race with no sexual dimorphism would also save a ton of resources as they would not have to create a second whole model, and they can even spend that time on more customisation for the race (in this case sethrak) while still cutting down on their artists time they spend on it.

Why add not played race like yours instead of something pretty and more played.
Simple really.

Just deciding to link this post from the US forums.
The opening post is very good and have a lot of great ideas.

Just make Naga and that Tiger race playable, I don’t care how they work it into the lore.

Not sure about nagas but game could have more cats

Saberon are cool, and they did escape to the barrens from AU Draenor, however this is a thread about sethrak so I will keep supporting the sethrak in here, but feel free to create a thread about the saberon. :grinning:
